Project Overview
Hello, my name is Keiko! I am the owner of MLA Entertainment and CubeDubs. I need to find voice actors for an English dub of the first episode of the anime CLANNAD.
ABOUT MYSELF
I have been writing, directing, and producing successful original projects for my youtube channel, MLA Entertainment, for over 10 years. In total, we have garnered over 300,000 views.
I started voice acting seriously in 2015 and also founded CubeDubs. We're known for our professional quality dubs.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
CLANNAD is my favorite anime, however, I wasn't pleased with some of the casting choices made for the English dub - particularly Tomoya.
Therefore, I am producing my own dub. For now, we will complete the first episode. However, we may decide to make more.
NOTE: We're known for our high quality audio and sound effects wizardry at CubeDubs, but for this project, I am considering omitting 90% of the sound effects to reduce production time and possibly allow future episodes to be made with much greater ease and speed. Majorly important sounds will likely remain.
NOTE: Sticking close to the original product is always a priority at CubeDubs, however, we do remove or alter any content that isn't suitable for all ages. Be aware of this.
NOTE: You will receive the completed episode through a link to cloud storage which you will be able to share with your friends and followers!
BEFORE YOU AUDITION
1. Have a good microphone or you won't be cast.
2. Don't audition with no intention of following through with your recording. Have an interest in the project. If you're too busy, please do not audition.
3. Be easy to communicate with. I don't want actors I can't easily contact.
4. READ the description of the role you're audition for.
5. Above all, have fun!

Tomoya Okazaki is the male protagonist of Clannad. Due to his habit of always arriving late to school, skipping classes during the day, and staying out all night, he has been labeled as a delinquent, or a young person who defies authority. He is very dissatisfied with his life. However, he has a dry sense of humor and pulls jokes on his friends to entertain himself. Underneath it all, he's very devoted and caring.
VOICE: Do your own thing! I want someone who has warmth, authenticity, and a great acting range.
(neutral, unhappy) I hate this city. It's full of all the memories I want to forget. Go to school every day, talk with friends, and then return to a home I'd rather not return to. Will this ever change? Will that day come?
(shouted, light hearted) Hey, Yohei! Compared to Tomoyo's kick, which hurt more?!
(sobbing, it builds to a yell) No, I don't want this... Nagisa, please save Ushio. Nagisa! Someone... someone save Ushio!!!!
Nagisa Furukawa is the main female protagonist of Clannad. She becomes Tomoya's love interest and wife. She is extremely kind and shy.
VOICE: I want someone who can sound genuine and extremely kind. Focus on sounding like an actual person rather than focusing on doing a high voice. I am open to your own interpretation.
(kind, slightly worried) Do you like this school? I really, really love it. But nothing can stay unchanged. Fun things, happy things... they can't possibly stay the same.
(light, curious) I didn't know you were there. What's this hand for?
(talk louder, happy and carefree) It's the big Dango family! Recognized by any Japanese, and they're incredibly popular nationwide! A family of 100 seems like such fun, I envy them! If they went to an amusement park, I bet it'd be chaos!
Youhei Sunohara is Tomoya Okazaki's best friend who is also a delinquent. He is hilarious and crazy and definitely provided many of the show's funniest moments.
VOICE: Full of energy and confidence. Be able to yell and scream a lot. You can do your own interpretation or go by the English dub. You can listen to the episode in the project description.
(confident) Just wait until graduation comes and I can pay them back in full. When the time comes, I trust you to watch my back, Tomoya!
(upset) Mrs. Sagara, come save me earlier, please. Darn that rugby club...
(angry and terrified, yell) AAAHH!! Are you trying to kill me?!! You're so heartless!!
Kyou Fujibayashi is a close friend of Tomoya in the same year. Kyou is the older and more well-known one of the Fujibayashi twins. She was Tomoya's class representative in their second year, and has maintained a steady friendship with Tomoya. She is very confident and strong willed. She is tough and a gives Tomoya a hard time. She can be very funny in the way there is always a shady and threatening vibe she gives off.

(angry, determined) You've got some nerve to pick on my younger sister! You loser!!
(pleasant, overcome with her pet's cuteness) Isn't it just adorable? It's a baby boar. Her name is Botan. Isn't she so cute?
OPEN Our first actress isn't responding so this role is actually open for auditions. Feel free to submit!
Ryou Fujibayashi is Tomoya's classmate and his class representative. She is the younger and less known one of the Fujibayashi twins. She is quite shy and awkward but very sweet.
VOICE: I'd like to hear something that fleshes her out a bit. Don't just do a high and shy voice. Personality is most important so focus on making her really sweet and awkward but dimensional. Be yourself!
(shy, awkward) Tomoya? You came in late today too. Um, I think you should come to school properly every day.
(worried, trying to calm the situation) Kyou! He wasn't picking on me or anything!
Tomoyo Sakagami has a reputation as a tough girl who beats up troublesome delinquents. She is very confident and proper, and she keeps to herself. Though she fights troublemakers, she herself only wants peace.
VOICE: Strong but proper and graceful. Do you own thing!
(very confident and strong, but proper) I don't want to cause an unnecessary disturbance. Get lost before you get hurt. You don't want to deliberately ask for pain, do you?
(fighting) Haaaa!!! Ya! Tomoya, open the dust shoot!
Nagisa's mother who runs a bread shop. She is very kind to everyone and always smiling. However, she becomes very upset and distressed whenever her bread is insulted.
VOICE: Warm, kind, motherly.
(greeting a customer, happy and hopeful) That's this week's new release. Please, try one if you'd like.
(very upset, crying) So my bread is... it's only natural there would be leftovers!!! (sobs)
Nagisa's father. He is very confident and sure of himself. He gives Tomoya a very hard time. He's tough and a bit intimidating but has good intentions. He loves his daughter.
VOICE: A strong, tough, adult voice. There is a warmth to his voice. Be able to yell easily.
(very intense, angry, and scary) Hey. You said what you shouldn't have said. You should have kept eating and said it's good. Say what you're supposed to say!
(happy, confident) Should've told me earlier, idiot! He looks dumb so I bet he forgot about it already.
Misae Sagara is the resident manager at Youhei's dorm. She guards her dorm like no other and can seem strict, but she is actually quite kind and just doing her job.
VOICE: Attractive, in control, womanly voice.
(intense, fighting people off) Break it up already! For crying out loud!
(strict, chiding) I'm the one who has to deal with complaints from the neighbors. You're the one at fault, aren't you? Why don't you learn your lesson?
NOTE: Whoever voices Naoyuki can also voice the male extras! Let me know if you're interested!
Tomoya's father. He struggles with alcohol and doesn't work anymore. His wife died in a car accident which is why his life has gone downhill.
VOICE: soft spoken, tired, maybe raspy.
(very soft spoken, waking up) Uhh... oh hi there... I guess I caused Tomoya some trouble again?
I need someone who can do a variety of voices for the male extras in the episode. These include high school students, punks, and some burly rugby players,
