Project Overview

Want to be a part of the very first Detective Story?


Murders in the Rue Morgue is a classic tale written by Edgar Allan Poe. Its story has inspired authors such as Doyle and his Sherlock series.


This classic murder mystery will be adapted into an audiobook for Youtube and Spotify and will be a part of a continuous series exploring Poe and other mysterious tales.


Murders in the Rue Morgue is told from the perspective of an unknown Narrator who is friends with Detective Dupin, a world class investigator sent in to solve a grisly crime. Two women, a mother and her daughter have been murdered in their home. The only witness is their neighbor, who refuses to give answers. Who or What could of caused this unforeseen killing? Only Dupin can find the truth.


I am hoping to finish this first episode in time for Halloween, so I am looking for a quick turn around. The episode will be max 30 minutes but could be shorter. Every role is paid depending on amount of lines. If you have questions about pay please dm me. You will also receive credits on IMDB, Youtube and Spotify. Returning Voice Actors will get legacy pay for each future episode.

    Hey,

    It’s been only a day, and I’ve already received so many incredible auditions! 

    It’s not like I don’t WANT to wait a little longer. But like, why would I? I can already see the end product, and it’s fantastic! I have gone ahead and shortlisted auditions for each role. This will be a hard choice, and I might message you here or on Discord to talk. In the event you are not chosen, don’t fret. If I took the time to talk with you, I see you in another role and would like to keep in contact for future availability. I am planning several series that will begin the audition process this month and the next, so be on the lookout.

The Narrator is the most active role in the story. You are retelling the mystery once told by your friend, Detective Dupin. The Narrator will both Narrate and have some speaking lines in this series.

  • It was New York, Summer of 1930. There I first met that strange and interesting young fellow, August Dupin.

  • When we had finished reading the newspaper’s account of the murders neither Dupin nor myself said anything for a while. But I could see in his eyes that cold, empty look which told me that his mind was working busily.

  • I said. “A madman!! A madman!! Only a madman could have done these murders!”

Detective Dupin is the investigator trying to solve a grisly murder. He has powers akin to Sherlock Holmes that give him an edge. 

Voice description:

  • When something more than simple hard work is needed, when a little real method is needed, the police fail. Sometimes they stand too near the problem.

  • The strange thing here is that when an Italian, an Englishman, a Spaniard, and a Frenchman tried to tell what the voice was like, each one said it sounded like the voice of a foreigner. How strangely unusual that voice really must have been!

  • Let us now take ourselves again, in our thoughts, to the room where the murders were done.

Yes... An Orangutan. Believe it or not YOU are the murderer. Spoiler. Simply put, make monkey noises. Screams, anger, blood curdling noises work best. Maybe try something distorted, that may not be first established as ape noises but as human noises.
