(CASTING CALL) Cuphead the Musical

(CASTING CALL) Cuphead the Musical

Project Overview

Based on the 2017 indie game, Cuphead, Cuphead the Musical is a free project that brings the beauty of Cuphead, through assortment of songs, and a colorful story that further delves into the story of Cuphead, Mugman, and the colorful and toony people of Inkwell Isle.

For many of those of you who don't know the story, the story delves into two toons by the names, Cuphead and Mugman. As they gallivant throughout all of Inkwell Isle after their dozens of warnings from their wise and just caretaker, Elder Kettle, the two soon stumbled upon the Devil's Casino, where they meet with the nefarious King Dice and the Devil himself. The two were gamblin' and having a time so swell...until the Devil intervenes and raise the stakes putting the two cup's souls on the line. When Cuphead rolled the dice...he lost it all, and now the two are forced to pay up their souls. Taken by fear, Cuphead and Mugman pleaded for their very lives to do ANYTHING to keep their souls...even if it means putting everyone else's well being for the sake of theirs. They made the deal with the Devil: to collect the contracts of the Devil's pasts debts, which means an adventure awaits the two boys as they journey through Inkwell Isle to search high and low for the debtors.

In the past we have made countless casting calls, and for now we shall put the rolls into one with the necessities we need MAJORLY for the musical. For any questions regarding this project, private message krokotopia101 on this very website.

To audition please heed these following requirements.

-A decent mic. Your voice must be clear and audible, and you cannot add any sound effects to your audition.

-You must be 16 years of age or older to audition. Cuphead is no kid-friendly game, so do not expect it to be a kid-friendly project.

-You MUST have a Discord. The script, and the remaining cast are there, and any communication SHALL be on the discord. If you do not have a Discord, then make one, in order to participate in this project.

-There will be...sensitive material throughout the musical script, so heed this as a warning.

-You must of course be familiar with Cuphead as a series. I will NOT waste time with people participating in a series they know NOTHING of, nor do they want to know.

-This is an unpaid project, and a long term one at best, so in order to be apart of it, you must dedicate yourself to the musical.

Goopy Le Grande

Goopy Le Grande is a kind, yet crude blue ball of slime who is one of the Devil's listed debtors, and the FIRST debtor of Cuphead and Mugman's journey. Goopy Le Grande is the kindest debtor of Inkwell Glade as he easily gives Cuphead and Mugman his contract with no trouble at all, as well as training them and cheering them on throughout the story. Goopy is envisioned to have a sarcastic and assuring tone in his voice. (Think Bugs Bunny if anything or Cheshire Cat in 1951's Alice in Wonderland.). Goopy Le Grande's song, Ruse of an Ooze is fast paced, and only he sings the song, along with backup from the chorus.

  • Recommended Voice Type: Baritone, Range: G2 – G4

Baritone is the most common male voice type.

  • (Rolling his eyes, whist maintaining his smile) "Old Fire-Pants really scraped the bottom of the barrel with you two, didn’t he?"

  • "I’m not making any tricks here, slime’s honor. But the others, well honor’s thrown straight out the window. You give them the same approach as you did me, then you’ll end as nothing but cup shards."

  • (Assertive) "They ain't the little twigs you broke before, Devil. We're sure of it!"Line 4: *Sing a song of your choice, Cuphead related or not*

*Or you can sing Goopy's parts to the Cuphead soundtrack, Ruse of an Ooze. (Mind you there are many fast parts) lyrics to the song can be found here.*

Role assigned to: Cdrivera02

Beppi or Beppi the 'King Clown' is the main attraction of Inkwell Park. He is a debtor that sold his soul away for the attention he so rightly deserves. Just like Clip-Join Calamity, Carnival Kerfuffle is a bit slow-paced, but you will be shot a fast-one immediately when the song begins. Beppi will have a total of 3 songs in the musical, Funhouse Frazzle, Carnival Kerfuffle, and Funfair Fever. Beppi has a wild and goofy personality, but very crafty and cunning.

  • Recommended Voice Type: Tenor, Range: C3 – B4

Tenor is the highest male voice type you will find in a typical choir.

  • “Cuphead, Mugman, and Baroness von Bon-Bon. WELCOME to the FOOL'S FRIVOLOUS FUNHOUSE! HAHAHAHAHA! Oh, and by the way, I do hope you enjoyed our little performance, today.”

  • (Covering his ears.) “LALALALALALAL I CAN'T HEAR YOU! LALALALALALLALALA! I can't hear him. The sound of the one who sold his soul to the Devil and is now trying to hunt me down is too unbearable to listen to.”

  • (In a defeated rage) “Give me...back...my contract...you porcelain punks, and LET ME KILL YOU OFF, MYSELF!”

Line 4: *Sing anything of your choice, or sing from the Carnival Kerfuffle, Funfair Fever, or Funhouse Frazzle soundtrack to the lyrics here.

  • *Sing anything of your choice Cuphead related or not.*

*Or you can sing to Dr. Kahl's parts of the soundtrack, Junkyard Jive, using the song's lyrics as used here.*

King Dice (Singing Vocals)

Role assigned to: KamiArchVA

As we have a role for King Dice already, this King Dice only plays the singing parts of the musical. Sing something beautiful (ANY song of your choice that is appropriate, Cuphead related or not. Any vocal range required). King Dice is one of the game's major antagonists, and the same role applies to him in the musical as the Devil's right-hand man. King Dice is sleazy, and cunning, and can smooth talk out of anything. Think Oogie Boogie, Hades, or Dr. Facilier. Once again you are auditioning for King Dice's singing vocals, as we already have someone for his speaking vocals.

  • Recommended Voice Type: Tenor, Range: C3 – B4

Tenor is the highest male voice type you will find in a typical choir.

  • "Yes siree, them clownies are comin' to town. Plenty of fun goin' on over there, and plenty more marks for you to lean on, am I right?"

  • "So... Cupface...what's the plan? You're so antsy in seein' the boss. Makes me wonder...is there another angle to this...than fightin' him?"

  • *Sing one song of your choice, Cuphead related or not.*

Or you can sing King Dice's parts to the songs: Cuphead (The soundtrack's Introduction song), Don't Mess with King Dice, or On a Roll by RecD. Lyrics to the song Cuphead is shown here,

Despite the fact that I have made the lyrics to the songs throughout the musical, we are in a dire requirement for a Music Writer. Someone to help make the music scores and sheet music to the songs so that all our singers can sing to the flow of their respective songs. Music Writers are a major recommendation to this project, and we would like to open up auditions for them. To participate in this role you must match the following criteria and must do the following:

-You must learn the basic understanding of lyrics and Flow.

-You must understand how to write music, of course.

-And finally you will need to provide and example of your work, regarding music sheets and music scores. I will NOT except anything less.

-Dedicate yourself to the musical. The Cuphead soundtrack has an abundance of songs both difficult and easy to follow the flow. You MUST dedicate yourself as the Music Writer.
