In the original: Al is a sweet, naive kid who follows his brother on their journey and cares about helping people. He usually plays second fiddle to Ed but sometimes motivates him to do the right thing. Also, he's a suit of armor.
In ours: Al is still sweet but less naive. He's the straight man to Ed's insane antics and often the voice of reason. As the series progresses, he slowly begins to tolerate his brother less and less and eventually comes into his own and starts to take a stand.
