Project: Adriatic Ace
Wang Lee Chi Chi for ACE
Ace is an old man, he's short, stocky and cheeky. He was eighteen when he enlisted into the Italian air force in 1910, and after the great war he returned, changed. Now Ace finds playful bliss in almost everything, and whenever someone asks about his experience in the war, he bursts into a dismissing laughter. Ace is often getting into trouble, being prone to poke fun at things that most people would consider distasteful, but no matter how bleak the situation is, he always leans on a bright disposition, even if only a dim one.
Direction Notes: Marco is asking Ace to sacrifice his own life, for those in the city, including his own family. Both Marco and Ace know what's being asked, and Ace is trying to play it off with gallows humor. He's not worried about himself, he's worried about how his daughter's going to handle it. Mattea, Ace's daughter, is in her room down the hallway, and she doesn't know what her husband, Marco, is asking of her father, Ace.

(Marco delivers the bad news over the radio. A group of planes have gotten passed allied air defenses, and are targeting a nearby city, one is carrying a nuclear-esk armament.) ACE: “Hm… Needing another bailout from us old codgers, aye?" MARCO: “Ace… I’m sorry.” (Ace smirks, while looking down the hallway.) ACE: “It’s not me who’s going to have to face Mattea, mate." (Ace lets out a reassuring chuckle.) ACE: "Besides, I find steel and gunfire far less frightening!”
I encourage you to reaudition with the updated lines and context. King Regards, Rouce.
Sure, I can give it another go.
