Maria is introduced as a tenacious warrior and servant of the Gilded Army. She brims with anxiety about her fated battle with Rebulus. She also reveals a deep love for a playful cavalry soldier known as Ernesto Dal. Later, after the birth of Tim, Maria softens only slightly as she becomes a mother and a civilian in Antium, capital city of Alaya. The anxiety she carried for her own future has pivoted to a near constant worry about the fate of her child and the dangers that corner him. The drive so elemental of Maria is still recognizable in the manner through which she later protects Tim.
