He endured the tragic loss of his wife and child thanks to the game's villain. His grief manifests in survivor's guilt and deep depression, punctuated by moments of levity thanks to his formality grating against his allies or his lack of experience with technology. He wields a courtly manner of speech resembling middle to early modern English, full of thees and thous, sirs and ladies, and can seem a bit like a fish out of water. He possibly has a slight European accent of some kind.
