THE POLITICIAN:
A politician and a blusterer seeking the vote any way he can get it. Thinks he’s slick, charming and can talk his way out of a paper bag. It’s all about him. His aide, Gerri, is more politically savvy than he, but he’ll never admit it. Voters are just a means to an end, namely, getting elected as mayor. Won’t be pinned down on any topic.

Tries to defuse a situation when his aide was caught trying to take grapes from a vine for him. DODGER: Whoa, now, fellas! We’re all friends here. No cause for violence. … It’s only a bunch of grapes. … . A simple misunderstanding. No disrespect intended.
He lays it on thick when soliciting the vote. DODGER: With the help of you good people, I’m going to win. … Now, don’t mind those jackals in the media. Already writing my obituary. We’re marching to victory! I’ve got plans. Big plans! New homes. New roads. New schools … New everything. Taxes down. Property values up. Jobs for everyone. You get a job. You get a job. And you get a …. Well, you’re a little young. But there’ll be one waiting for you when you’re ready.
He won’t get pinned down on specifics, despite his previous bluster about stamping out a problem. DODGER: We will do plenty. I assure you … Yet at the same time, we mustn’t charge in half-cocked. Haste makes waste. We must scrutinize. Prioritize. We will form focus groups, committees and sub-committees. We will need commissioners, deputy-commissioners, chairmen …uh, pardon me … chairpersons … stenographers, [sten-ah-gruh-fers] and cartographers [car-taa-gruh-fers]. We will require inspectors and spellcheckers, secretaries and refectories [ree-feck-ter-ees … and dozens and dozens of boots on the ground.
