LOTTERY EPISODE #5
Mel Rose for Gertrude - Minor Role
Maggie and Grace’s co-worker. Mid-40s. A tad naïve. Maggie and Grace have kept her at a distance, yet she’d still love to be part of their “gang.” She is jealous of their friendship and their plan to open a business together. She particularly annoys Maggie. Tries to avoid confrontation but will get snarky herself if pushed against a wall.

Gertrude is trying to enter a ladies’ room which Maggie and Grace have blocked from the inside to have a private conversation: GERTRUDE: Hello? Hello? Who’s in there? Something’s blocking the door. I need to get in. MAGGIE (calling out): Go away, Gertrude. Use a bathroom on another floor. GERTRUDE: But I work on this floor. I want to use this bathroom. MAGGIE: Well, you can’t! Just get lost, Gertrude. GERTRUDE: Is that you, Maggie? What are you doing in there? You can’t block the door.
Later, Getrude is exasperated she tries to explain that the alternate bathroom Grace sent her to also was out of order.: GERTRUDE (calling after Grace): I wish you people would get your stories straight.
Later on, Gertrude is peeved when a panicked Grace asks if she saw whether a maintenance man emptied the recycling bin for the area: GERTRUDE: I don’t know. He doesn’t report to me. … There a problem? Aren’t you and Maggie cozy with Maintenance?
