SpongeBob SquarePants is the main protagonist of the self-titled animated series, characterized by his optimism and childlike attitude. He resides in a pineapple with his pet snail, Gary, in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. He works at the Krusty Krab fast food restaurant as their best and only fry cook. It is a job he excels at and thoroughly enjoys. He attends Mrs. Puff's Boating School, where he hopes to earn his boating license. However, every time he has to drive a boatmobile, he gets nervous and drives recklessly. SpongeBob has a heart of gold, doing things with the best intentions even if they lead to dire consequences. He really loves to hang out with his friends, especially his closest companion, Patrick Star. His other friends include his next door neighbor, Squidward Tentacles, and his land mammal friend, Sandy Cheeks. Other relationships include Eugene H. Krabs (his boss), Sheldon J. Plankton (the show's main antagonist), and his superhero idols Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, among many others. His common interests and hobbies include blowing bubbles, going jellyfishing, anything involving Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy and their Rogues Gallery, and going to the Glove World theme park, among many others.

We understand that the voice of SpongeBob is hard to pull off. Please try as best you can to give a similar portrayal to that of Tom Kenny.

  • [One of SpongeBob's signature quotes is his "I'M READY" mantra. This quote has appeared throughout various episodes, especially in the early seasons. Typically spoken as a chant, in a singsong sort of way, with pure excitement and optimism. There are many variations of this mantra throughout the show's run, so whichever variation you would like to use, go for it] (shouted in excitement, both words briefly elongated) "I'M READY!" (chanting) "I'm ready! I'm ready! I'm ready! I'm ready!"

  • [From the episode "Pizza Delivery", when SpongeBob and Squidward find a rock they can use to drive to the customer's house. Squidward, of course, dismisses it as a big boulder, but SpongeBob, happy as a clam, is overjoyed to see this rock. While the line is spoken joyously, he audibly tears up and weeps a little.] (joyful, tearing up) "It's not just a boulder! It's a rock!" (weeping joyously) "A rock! A rock! It's a big, beautiful, old rock. Oh, the pioneers used to ride these babies for miles!" (still excited, but now in a calm voice) "And it's in great shape!"

  • [This line is from the episode "Can You Spare A Dime?", where SpongeBob takes Squidward in after the latter quits his job for falsely being accused of stealing the first dime Mr. Krabs ever earned. This is where SpongeBob confronts Mr. Krabs after being driven to his wit's end for Squidward's snobbiness and laziness, telling him off in no uncertain terms whilst choking him. It is rare for SpongeBob to be this angry with someone, but when he is, he is not someone you should mess with.] [For this line, most of it is spoken in utter anger, but the very last line immediately switches to SpongeBob sounding calm and collected.] "Listen, you crustaceous cheap-skate! Squidward's been living at my house, driving me crazy! (shaking Mr. Krabs violently with wide open and bloodshot eyes, screaming angrily) And you're not gonna hire him back all because of a stupid dime?!" [once seeing a prehistoric dime fall out of Mr. Krabs' back pocket. SpongeBob suddenly calms down] "What's that?" ||| WARNING: If you don't know how to do the scream, please don't try it, it can do damage to your throat. Also, please lower gain. "GARY! YOU ARE GONNA FINISH YOUR DESSERT, AND YOU ARE GONNA LIKE IT!"
