He is humble, confident and loyal. He once had an arrogant view on girls as a child, but was shown that girls can do anything boys can do. He is the second Braun child, Marta’s husband and father of Hans and Hannah. Able to sing. He is in his 20’s. He is able to speak Russian but doesn't have a Russian accent when speaking.
Since we’re not technically military, we don’t know the full story, but from what rumours I’ve heard, after the tsar’s abdication and with the government formed after it, morale within the army has been so low that soldiers are refusing to fight and antigovernmental protests have been all over Petrograd. So even though we’re still at war with Germany, we’re not really fighting them anymore and we got sent home as other soldiers are being sent home.
I tell you, Marta, I’ve never seen Gideon act like that. To know that there are people eating other people is just awful. I feel so bad for Gideon that he witnessed that.
Yo, it is hard. Following God’s Word and going where he wants us to go involves many sacrifices and is never easy. But remember, even far back when the Mennonites began, they left everything behind and fled the Netherlands. We regard them as heroes for leaving, we don’t view that as not trusting God. And I’m sure our descendants will look back at our decision to leave and thank us for it.
