Okay, here we are. The first day. On the precipice of your novel, we're looking down on the unknown. It’s quite a view. You have always admired great authors who stared out with the same mix of wonder and trepidation at that small verdant speck on the horizon called The End. This is your time. It is a beautiful day, the birds are singing, and there is an unmistakable smell of victory.

Does it get any better? Maybe. 

For a month, 50,000 words seems about right. Each day, that's 1,667 words. Almost anyone can do that in an hour and a half, even if they have full-time jobs and chaos at home. Also, fifty thousand words is long enough for a writer to do a whole story arc within them.

Be careful getting back home. I've already lost two umbrellas to this weather.
