Pokémon: Battle Club
Elijah S. VA for Alvin Hawkthorn
Alvin is studying the evolution of Pokémon over time. Not just Pokémon evolution through means of gaining experience, by how different species are connected to each other and separated to different Pokémon throughout history. He is trying to get a loan by the region to create a lab and jumpstart his career as a professor, but he is having trouble securing the loan. He spends more time with his research than he does with his family and it has put a strain on his relationship with Brooke.
Alvin is a hard worker. He is passionate about his project and his family. However, he is also short-sighted.
[Alvin had a hard day where his research was denied because of inconsistencies. He has been trying to get funding to build a lab but no one is trusting him and his studies. Brooke comes down to check on him but he is occupied with trying to figure out where he went wrong] (distant, focused)
Alvin: I'm going over some data. I- (Alvin stammers a bit and when he speaks again his voice is downcast) My data was off today. I need to be airtight for my next presentation.
[Alvin is having a conversation with his wife, Lisa. It is late at night and they are speaking in a hushed tone to not wake up Brooke who is already listeaning] (hushed, serious, almost desperate)
Alvin: I don't want to, Lisa. If I don't get the funding soon, we're screwed.
[Continuing the conversation with Lisa late at night. Lisa suggests she takes more hours working at the Pokémon Center] (hushed, serious, a bit discouraged at the suggestion)
Alvin: No! You shouldn't have to work any harder than you do already. I- (Alvin stammers and when he speaks again he is disappointed) I wish I was more of a man for you, Lisa.
