Russell “Cog” Cogburn, 40s African American, is a scrapper and captain of his ship, SteamPunk. A veteran of the Rim War, Cog was once a promising engineer until he found himself on the losing side. A mistake which took the life of his wife and his platoon. Now a recluse, he operates in the fringes of space. He can be a bit cranky, but carries a heart of gold underneath that tough exterior.
