Detective Herman is an investigative officer in the middle of New Orleans, investigating the disappearance of dozens of people - all due to the corruption (an invisible force driving people to madness and murder) that is terrorizing the population. Unbeknownst to him, he himself has been affected by the corruption, and is slowly losing his grip on his sanity.
“I wake up to the sound of flies.. It’s the same thing every morning. But.. there are no flies here.. I must be losing my mind.."
Conversing with the woman reporting her husband missing: “That is.. Very unfortunate, but I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do. (Notices people around them) Uhm, miss, we’re starting to draw a small audience here - are you sure you want to talk about this in public?”
Feeling the effects of the corruption taking over him: " *gasping* I.. I see it.. *gasp* The river!”
