The Voice Actor Compendium Entrance Competition
NatalieBAnderson for Akame
I do not own this character. The Dialogue is for auditioning purposes only. The audio does not go anywhere.
Personality:
Akame appears to be a very serious and coldhearted person which stems from her hellish training that the Empire forced her and her sister through, but it is eventually revealed that she is just socially awkward. She cares about her comrades very much and she is always worried that one of them may not make it out alive due to her first-hand experience that war always has a high mortality rate. After Tatsumi fought Ogre, she stripped him of his clothes to check his body for wounds and Akame rushes to Mt. Kageboshi to aid Hinata who was about to be killed by Yomihime.
(Cold. This is a bittersweet moment. I'm not looking for a totally flat delivery. Get a feel for the character and give a delivery you think is right.)
As the living it is our responsibility to carry out the wishes of the ones who are gone.(Now this is a totally emotionless line. Add a hint of confusion.)
I'll kill you if you get in the way, you know.
Hmm... I see...
(Menacning)
Then I'll eliminate both of you.(More emotional. You've lost a friend and the weight of their death has pushed you over you threshold for acting cool-headed.)
No. This was Shere's favourite meal...
Since we work in the shadows... Shere's name will never be recorded in the history of the revolutionary army.
So I have to remember more things about her than anyone else.
She may have done many foolish things... But she was the kindest one of us.
If I may ask where are you from natively? Your Scottish accent is beautiful! I’ve got Scottish blood, but my family has been in America for several generations now so I have a plain old midwestern American accent. For theatre roles I’m always trying to improve my accents and dialects, and Scottish is my favorite and can’t quite get it down yet though.
I've got Scottish blood too, but I'm from Utah. I've got a love for learning new dialects and accents though. The International Dialects of English Archive (IDEA) is a great place to listen to specific accents, and I'd suggest finding news outlets to listen to. The best way to improve is to listen to native speakers.
I love IDEA! I used it recently to improve my Texas accent for a western audio drama I did. And you’re right, finding clips of native speakers is the best way to improve! You’ve obviously done well with it, I thought your accent was native! Well done!
