Original Text Adventure {NEW PAGE IN BIO}
Oliver the Anomollie for Yan (Prospective) *CLOSED*
*Due to this character being in the Second incomplete chapter of the story, the payment shown is the minimum payment based on current amount of lines. This *may* increase depending on how the Chapter continues*
*We may also have an actor lined up for this character, but we'll keep these open in case of.*
Yan is one of the primary characters in the Second Chapter of the Text Adventure. He initially appears as polite, considerate and as a somewhat typical 'boring' hero type; a hopeless romantic, more noble than his upbringing, and (slightly too) willing to die to help the people of the land with their problems. He's very intent on upholding a good moral compass & noble image, though as you get to know him, his sheltered nature and true, genuine (and somewhat infuriating) kindness and occasional poor attempts at humour show through. A lovely guy at heart, Yan can be somewhat naive and stubbornly blind to the dark truths of the world, and how difficult his goal might be to acquire.
He's in his mid-late 20s, and well spoken- not necessarily 'posh', but we're not ruling it out. Accent is open once again, and vocally we're thinking mid and warm sounding. We're open to interpretation as always!
If you'd like more information on the character, please ask on here, discord or email and I'll clarify - I don't want to spoil anything for the players, as this chapter is still ongoing!
Yan is giving a speech to a hall of civilians.
Our world is skewed. Skewed in that we live in a world ultimately out of our control, out of our rational beliefs. Many of you would and have said that I'm here purely of fate, purely of serendipity or misfortune, depending on your impressions of this process. Though I am a great believer in carving your own destiny, I...would have to agree.
My years of training and loyalty to our past king did not bring me here, and believing that's so would be blind. To believe that I'll survive as long as the last is equally naïve, much as I'd love for it to be true. What I can assure you of, though, is that I will have a meaningful reign, however long, however much you believe in me.
He drops to one knee, bowing his head.
It will be my honour to serve you, and I will serve you all until my blood runs cold.
Replying to his partner, who's just started an argument with him. Could be yelling, or trying to talk them down- open to interpretation!
We always said we'd make it through whatever came our way, right? This is the same sentiment. Come now, let's go and prepare for tonight.
More tenderly, almost whispering.
Please, I know you're upset. I know this news changes...everything, and that in itself is a large understatement. But I'm here, and I will never let anything get in our way, okay?
A sweet scene of some respite. Aary is suggesting something to relieve Yan's stress, though Yan isn't picking up on the bigger picture.
Aary- "You know, your girlfriend could help you to loosen up more, too"
She could? How so?
Aary raises an eyebrow, smirking. Yan doesn't get what she means.
We do enjoy coming here for walks in any spare time we have, and the waves are certainly relaxing...
A long pause. He continues looking blankly back at Aary, until it finally hits him.
OH, you uh, you mean...
He speaks very quietly, but genuinely
...sex?
Aary stares back in shock. He gasps a little, suddenly aware of how what he said might sound.
Aary- I never expected you to just SAY it!
Yan stifles a rare laugh.
I do apologise! Gods, that must of uh, been a little unexpected, to say the least...
Perhaps I've loosened up a little too much.
Yan bursts out laughing.
Hey Oliver, thanks for your audition! Don't worry about being nervous- for me, the nerves never go away, you just find a way to channel them into what you do. I know when I feel nervous, I know it's because I care, so I try to channel the nervous energy into the other emotions I'm portraying, as well as the acting itself! Not a bad audition at all- have faith and confidence in yourself! :D
Thanks for the tips! I'll be sure to keep them in mind, thanks for being so nice haha. After finally submitting it after like 10 minutes of just hesitation it felt really good since the nerves just disappeared. Anyways I'm glad it wasn't as terrible as i thought it was and once again good luck!
