Randal Wung

Howzit, I'm a local boy from Hilo on the Big Island now living in the Bay Area, who grew up on TV and movies and learned how people elsewhere sounded and acted from them. In college, I planned to pursue a career in voiceover but got hooked on the stage and graduated with a B.A. in speech, attended acting school in NYC, and ended up a professional children's and classical theatre actor then eventually a large-group educational presenter for a university science museum, traveling to schools all over Northern and Central CA and beyond for two decades. I've also done radio commercials and audio drama I'm quite proud of, and am now in the process of building a dedicated VO career.

     As for what I can do, in both stage and voice acting I've sometimes referred to myself as the "leftover guy." Others are cast for whatever roles they're appropriate for but whatever is left? "Give it to Randal—he can play anything." While that's clearly impossible, I'm willing to give it a shot because I pride myself on my versatility, adaptability, and aptitude for direction. Attributes I developed through theatre and even more so from teaching and presenting science to thousands upon thousands of kids, as well as working with parents, teachers, principals, and school staff, year after year after year.

     I was sometimes asked if I really enjoyed what I was doing as much as I appeared to, and I'd always say, "I get paid to have FUN. When it stops being fun, I'll stop doing it." For personal reasons and, y'know, the pandemic, I did stop doing it, but the work itself? It never stopped being fun. NEVER. And if I'm fortunate enough to work with you, I sincerely hope that fun continues. A big mahalo in advance should that happen.
