Caleb is an angsty teen boy with internal turmoil. He falls in love with a girl named Ellie, but falls out with her due to him treating her coldly. He was betrayed in the past by his friends and has trust issues too.

Ellie is a young and sweet girl who fell in love with Caleb when she met him. Although confused by Caleb's cold treatment, she still tries to be kind to him. She is emotional, but a rather quiet person. However, she can be confrontational when pushed too hard. She is sweet, caring, loving, and tries to be helpful. Her aim is to resolve things between her and Caleb

Danny is Caleb's calmer and more level-headed father. He works hard to provide for the family and isn't around as often as Marie. Nevertheless, he still tries to be active in his family's life. Despite his calmness, he still can get impatient with Caleb.

Kelsey is Ellie's adopted mother. She isn't in the movie much, but when she is, she shows where Ellie got her loving personality from.
(friendly) I love your dress, Marie.
(worried) What's wrong, sweetie?
(reassuring) Honey, when people are mean for reasons you may not understand, it's their problem, not yours.
Caleb's cowardly ex-friend who longs to become popular and accepted by everyone. He ended up ditching Caleb, because of Caleb's lack of popularity. He has grown a bit by the end and ends up being able to face Caleb when confronted.

(haughtily) Yeah, Caleb sucks anyways. All he ever does is sit in corners like a damn weirdo. Oh wait, he's a damn weirdo, ain't he?
(sorrowful and scared) I know you stuck by me and I know you sort of stood up for me once, but it didn't matter all that much to me at the time. Looking back, I guess it mattered after all
Caleb's ex-girlfriend. Carolina is a pushy and bratty young girl who doesn't respect Caleb's boundaries. However, she's also quite timid in confrontation though.

Rose Gold is a singer that Caleb becomes a fan of and listens to. Any female vocal range will work for her. However, I'd prefer that the same person who voices Ellie will also be Rose Gold's voice. Caleb is drawn to her due to her ability to sing softly and lightly.
