New Project
As promised, I am here to share that I have opened another project seeking male and female voices in the same universe. For anyone interested, it can be found here: https://cstng.cc/projects/paid-audiobook-script-read
Hello! I am searching for a voice to fit one of my long time characters in a very small, one time project.
This project would involve the reading of a short story / script as if you (the character) were speaking directly to the person it is about and thinking about the impact they’ve had on your (his) life. The script is written in first person and is my first attempt at this POV, so it is still under intense editing as of this moment. It is looking to be around 1,600 words, subject to change.
Please know that it deals heavily with an abusive (non-romantic) relationship between the main character and the witch being spoken to, as the story itself is his attempt to move past what happened and heal. There is nothing graphic but it is certainly there.
Taking place inside a world from a role play, this project is a personal one and would not be shared by me to a very large audience, however you would be free to share your work as you see fit.

Rhalasca’mar, or Ras, lives in a world where magic users are considered a plague to be wiped out. Ras, unfortunately, made a mistake that ended up costing him his whole life.
Ras found himself turned into a chimera, rather than the human he had once been, and was stuck under the control of the very witch he had sought to kill.
As of the time of this story, he is somewhere between 19 and 23. Officially an age has not been chosen.
He does not have any particularly strong accent nor is his voice extremely deep or raspy.
“Why? I had never done anything to you!”
Notes: This line is intended to be read with anger or frustration. This is Ras demanding answers.
“Your appearance was only a facade. Like the magic which you controlled, your mere presence was enough to draw others to you like insects to a flame. And oh how they praised your very name… almost as if you were a god.”
“My failure was in not preparing Naoli for what might happen. She and Ishlamar assured me you could never come back, and I trusted them, but I should have known better. Trusted myself. Naoli did not know what you could do…”
Notes: The name “Ishlamar” is pronounced as Ish-luh-mar rather than la. Also be careful about the “was in not” portion. This is not a typo. This line is Ras stating that his failure was not preparing Naoli. “In not,” while uncommon, is a proper way to say that.
This audition is only for voice actors who were listed on my update regarding the callback list and is optional. Auditions outside of those nine will not be considered for the role, however I appreciate your interest.
This story centers around Ras and a sorcerer whom he refers to as a witch named Estelle. She is the reason he is no longer a human. Though Ras eventually managed to break free of the magic used to control him and kill her, she later came back as a ghost to try again, reopening old wounds that had just been starting to heal.
Ras is terrified of her.
She hates him and relishes in the fact that he is afraid of her.
The person who is accepted for this role needs to be able to express both fear and anger through their voice when appropriate. They also need to have a good grasp on a steady narration vs emotional outbursts and dialogue.
It was brought to my attention that I was a bit confusing on what I am looking for regarding steady narration vs emotional outbursts and such. I hope this answer below can help. As well, feel free to send me a message here or on Discord (Nicole#1742) if you have any questions.
Yes, of course there is emotion with the narration. However there are times where it would be a bit more flat (thus what I meant by steady narration) vs an outburst. We’ll use the first sample as an example.
And then you would always say the same thing.
"I hate you."
Why? I had never done anything to you.
The first line isn’t going to be something where he’s super distressed audibly. By the time that why roles around, he is.
And then you would always say the same thing.
"I hate you."
Why? I had never done anything to you.
Notes: I have added more to this sample in order to provide further context for what exactly he is saying "why?" to. This entire project is a story narrated by Ras, taking place entirely in his head through mental narration, however occasionally there is dialogue that he is remembering, some his own, some others. I am not asking you to perform multiple voices; Ras would not do that. What I AM asking you to do is make it clear whether he is simply narrating or quoting dialogue with your voice. In this case the dialogue comes from the witch the entire story is about, Estelle.
“You never let me,” I had tried to say.
Notes: In this scene, Ras was being confronted by the ghost of Estelle (which is actually the casting call's main image). He was trying to verbally defend himself. This dialogue comes from Ras.
You can try to swim against it, but in the end there is no escape. And then, when you do eventually resurface, you are just a shell of who you were before being dragged under.
Notes: This is entirely narration. Ras is discussing a spell which Estelle uses to basically eat away at his mind until he is more like a puppet than a person.
