Project Overview

Hello, everyone! I'm SweetPeaDG and I am holding an audition for some characters in a comic dub focusing on the backstory of one of my favorite Street Fighter characters: Juri Han! This is a chapter coming out of the Super Street Fighter Volume One: New Generation comic book published by UDON. This comic dub will only focus on the pages involving Juri that are written and drawn by Jim Zub and Omar Dogan with lettering by Marshall Dillon.

As I've stated before, this is Juri's backstory.

We're going back to the time where at the age of 15, Juri was the preeminent practitioner of Tae Kwon Do. Her father was a lawyer in charge of prosecuting organized crime operations such as Shadaloo. This is a very powerful and deadly criminal organization that is responsible for dealing with biochemical drugs and arms and is led by M. Bison and his three highest minions, Balrog, Vega, and Sagat within the Street Fighter universe. These four men are so known as the Four Heavenly Kings ( the irony). Juri's father had started targeting Shadaloo which resulted in her parents being killed and the loss of her left eye. She swears revenge.

This is my first fandub.

I thought that I would give fan-dubbing a shot with this comic. If you would like to see what the result would potentially look like, here are a couple of examples on my YouTube channel for comics that I've drawn and voiced with other voice actors.

I'll voice both Juri's younger self and her adult self.

  • I would prefer USB and XLR mics for this project. But as long as the audio isn't too static-like and there is little to no background noise.

  • This project is being done for fun, so please have fun experimenting with the character voices. I will give references but that does not mean that you are restricted to them!

Juri's mother is a strict yet loving mother who wants the best for her daughter. But she seems to be more disappointed in Juri's current state in her Tae Kwon Do training and her way of encouraging her is reminding Juri of how expensive these classes are. The mother is aware of her husband's quest in busting the members of Shadaloo and understands the danger of the situation. When Juri asks her father what Shadaloo is about, her mother shuts her down as a way not to worry her about such a mature topic.

    Your training is very EXPENSIVE, daughter. Why should we spend so much money on Taekwondo if you are not able to show IMPROVEMENT? Is this how you THANK us?

  • (Upset that her husband is busy on the phone and likely didn't see Juri's match with the instructor)

    Stop talking on the PHONE, will you! Did you even SEE the match?

  • (Juri asks her father what Shadaloo is but her mother shuts down her question with a smile)

    It's not important, Juri. Do as your father says.

    I don't have time for this, Anae. Do what you think is right.

  • (After he explains to Juri what Shadaloo is, Juri calls it dangerous. He agrees but tells her to focus on training harder)

    It may be, but it is important and is also my duty. In that same way, it is your duty to train hard and not embarrass your family. Do you understand?

  • (Their escorted car gets attacked and he is trying to protect his Anae and Juri by trying to keep their heads down)

    Keep your head down!

    (Juri's head wasn't down in time and the father sees that she has been wounded by a bullet as well as his wife)

    No, no, no... Please, no!

Seth is the leader of an organization called S.I.N. Two words can describe this guy's personality: God Complex.

Juri sees Seth as a pawn in her attempt to get revenge for the murder of her parents, despite the perverse joy she displays in working for them and brutally dealing with the enemies of S.I.N.

  • (The lab assistant tells Seth that Juri's body is strong and that they don't detect any organ rejection during her surgery; Seth is very pleased)

    Excellent.

  • (The lab assistant reassures Seth that Juri is in a state of sedation after he admits that he is troubled by her calm look; Seth gets annoyed)

    (Tanden is pronounced Tun-den)

    It was just an observation, you fool. I don't require you of all people to explain the Tanden process to me.

  • (Juri's eye surgery is complete and Seth asks her about her current state)

    (Juri is pronounced Ju-Ree)
