"No Matter What, He's Mine" Student Written Original Script

Project Overview

Hi HI!!


It's great to meet you! My name is Kay and I'm writing a play! I want to propose it to my school's drama club so we can preform it next year. However, scripts are a little hard to read through while also taking into account stage directions and emotions. They're also a little difficult to pitch. So, I'd like to make it visual and I'll need some voice help to do so.


The base plan to adapt the stage play into a visual novel style video. Something akin to Doki Doki Literature Club's style. The "narrated" bit will be the stage directions and your voice may be one of the characters. There will be intermittent images depicting more intricate scenes as well.


Play Description: 

20-40% of divorces are caused by infidelity. However, Paul Yates would never cheat on his wife. He's loving, considerate, and arguably too accommodating of Kelly Yate's anger issues. He's so accommodating, in fact, he has taken charge of almost every responsibility in their home since the disappearance of Kelly's best friend (Madison Hubert). Driven by guilt, Kelly seeks out an experimental form of hypnotherapy to quicken the grieving process. Through the play, Kelly participates in a one-hour "Speed Grieving" session to get back on her feet after her latest bout of anger and suspicion. Or will she?


If you are interested in Voice Acting, here's what you need to know:


  • This play is student written and still in the editing process. So, if you are cast and while recording you feel your character may say something different or emote differently than written in the script, you are allowed to recommend the change. Changes to the script via me are also not out of the question.

  • Content disclaimers include: Brief mention of military brutality, depictions of violence/death, and mentions of cheating.

  • This play portrays a fictional form of hypno-therapy referred to as "Speed Grieving." During which patients will undergo one hour of travelling into their subconscious to confront the subject of their grief directly. That being said, the portrayal is fictional, and it is not meant to be a realistic treatment.

  • All recordings submitted need to be clear and comprehensible. Little to no background noise is requested.

  • Character designs are subject to change based on who gets cast. What I have now are bases on how I interpret the characters, but I'd like to design them according to their voice actor as to have a "theater" feel to characters. So, anyone can audition for anyone as long as you can vocally perform the role accurately.

  • All contact between cast members and me will be done either via email or Casting Call Club's messaging system. This may leak into discord depending on ability for everyone to join.

  • I ask that all who audition are at least 15 and older. Your age does not disqualify you from roles, either. As long as you can vocally perform the role accurately, I implore you to audition.

  • This project isn't intended to spread farther than my current theater group to propose this play for the upcoming school year. However, depending on the project's outcome, the product may be published on YouTube. This is not for certain and will depend on the comfortability of individuals involved.

  • Characters below are listed in order of appearance, not in order of importance or exposure.

  • You will mainly work on storyboarding and character design. I'm no pro-artist and I hardly know color theory. You'll come in as primarily a consultant

  • Character designs are subject to change with voice actor preferences.

  • This project, depending on the outcome, may be published to YouTube. This is not for certain and will depend on individual preferences

  • All contact between you and me will be done either via email or Casting Call Club's messaging system. This may leak into discord depending on ability for everyone to join.

  • Disclaimer: There is a murder in this production. If I decide that blood may be used, it will be minimal.

  • Three people will be chosen for this position and payment will be discussed upon hire. (Done via Cash App)

    I posted this project as an Unpaid Project as I wasn't sure how I was going to pay those I cast. Recently, I discovered a way that I could: CashApp. Upon this discovery, I rested on rates for Voice Actors and Artists

Doctor Amanda Lee Ferguson is eccentric and ready to take action to make the world a better place. Her means of doing so may seem odd and her comparisons morbid, but she really means well. This character should be cheery and vaguely assertive throughout the entirety of her lines.

The stage of anger is comprised of two roles: Anger 1 and Anger 2. I've named them much like The Cat and the Hat's Thing 1 and Thing 2. The difference is, these two aren't really separate beings. They are just two sides to the same coin. Due to this, you will need to be able to coordinate with another voice actor for lines in which you speak in unison. While they are both angry characters, Anger 1 is calmer. More level headed. Consider how you feel when you're calm enough to not yell but still angry enough to want to punch the subject of your anger. This role needs to be able to embody a calculated kind of fury that taunts the individual to progress into Anger 2.
