Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today!
Calling all singers, actors, and cartoon enthusiasts to audition for M.W.C.A. (Musical Without a Cool Acronym), a Phineas and Ferb parody musical that features animal agents, a giant floating baby head, and an incredibly persistent teenager determined to bust her little brothers once and for all.
This will be a virtual production incorporating both live and pre-recorded elements. Most of the scenes with just dialogue (no singing) will be performed live on stream on a specific show date, while songs and action sequences will be pre-recorded, mixed, and then played as videos during the livestream. We are currently aiming to perform on March 13, 2021. This production is purely for fun and entertainment purposes, and will not be paid or monetized in any way. Rehearsals will be held primarily during weekday evenings or weekend afternoons. If you are cast as a lead or supporting character, you can expect 1-2 rehearsals each week lasting a couple hours each, as well as about 1 song recording session each week, which can be scheduled on your own time. If you are cast as a minor or ensemble character, you can expect just a handful of rehearsals over the course of the production, as well as about 1 song recording session each week.
Musical Without a Cool Acronym is a parody of Phineas and Ferb that features an original plot, but draws inspiration from and spoofs miscellaneous Phineas and Ferb episodes, movies, and specials. It primarily centers around Candace Flynn, and aims to answer the question of what would happen if she discovered the source of her misfortune. It features a combination of songs from the cartoon and songs from famous Broadway musicals with re-written lyrics. The songs in the show are as follows:
ACT ONE
1. "Today Is Gonna Be a Great Day" from Phineas and Ferb - performed by Phineas & Company
2. "Omigod You Guys", parody of "Omigod You Guys" from Legally Blonde - performed by Candace, Isabella, Stacy, Jenny, and the Fireside Girls
3. "Doof's Lament", parody of "Alexander Hamilton" from Hamilton - performed by Doofenshmirtz
4. "Ya Got Evil", parody of "Ya Got Trouble" from The Music Man - performed by Doofenshmirtz, Norm, and Chorus Girls
5. "Big Fun", parody of "Big Fun" from Heathers - performed by Phineas, Candace, & Company
6. "The Room Where It Happens", parody of "The Room Where It Happens" from Hamilton - performed by Candace, Doofenshmirtz, & Company
ACT TWO
7. "O.W.C.A.", adaptation of "Y.M.C.A. (Phineas and Ferb Remix)" originally by Village People - performed by Monogram, Carl, & Company
8. "Doof's Lament Reprise", adaptation of "Doofenshmirtz Does the Ham4All Challenge" by Dan Povenmire - performed by Doofenshmirtz
9. "Summer Nights", parody of "Summer Nights" from Grease - performed by Phineas, Isabella, Candace, Jeremy, Ferb, & Company
10. "Busted" from Phineas and Ferb - performed by Candace, Vanessa, & Company
11. "Sincerely, Me" from Dear Evan Hansen - performed by Isabella, Phineas, & Company
12. "Therapy" from Tick, Tick... BOOM! - performed by Jeremy and Candace
13. "Not So Bad a Dad" from Phineas and Ferb - performed by Vanessa
14. "Summer Belongs to You" from Phineas and Ferb - performed by Phineas, Isabella, Candace, & Company
Songs and script may be subject to change throughout the rehearsal process. A full script will be shared with all actors after casting. To get an idea for the tone of the show, you can check out the original 2019 production as it was performed at UMBC, though there may be some changes between the two productions.
To audition, please submit a video below of you acting as a particular character, saying/singing the lines listed for that corresponding character. For songs, sing along to the accompanying backing track linked below the lyrics. You are welcome to improvise additional lines or songs in character if you are inclined to do so. Casting Call Club doesn't allow large video files to be submitted, so on this website, just submit an MP3 file in which you state your first and last name, age, and role for which you are auditioning. Then, in your audition notes, include a link to the audition video itself, which can be uploaded to either YouTube or Google Drive. Please see the Candace audition submitted by bravoalmara as an example to follow! We would prefer if you uploaded just one video per character, though you are welcome to make cuts in the video in between you saying/singing the different listed lines. Microphones of high quality are preferred, as is the ability to change the background of your video, either with a green screen or other video software (i.e. Zoom). These are not required for auditions themselves, but if you are cast, we will need to work out a way to get high quality recordings of your voice and change the background of your video. If cast, you will also be asked to use any costume pieces you have available to help you look like your character, though we will also be able to help supply you with some costume pieces if necessary.
All roles are currently open, with the exceptions of Major Monogram and Candace, who will be played by producers Andrew Grabowski and Taylor Castle, respectively. For reference, you can view sample auditions we submitted for the two characters. Characters' ages, genders and nationalities will be presented the same as they are in the cartoon, though anyone is welcome to audition for any role regardless of age/race/gender/ethnicity/etc. Specifically for Baljeet and Stacy, we are looking to cast People of Color appropriately. The script has Candace and Jeremy kiss as well as Phineas and Isabella, though how this will be pulled off virtually is TBD. Baljeet and Buford also share some mildly intimate interactions. All roles will require singing, with the exception of Perry the Platypus, who does not sing or speak. The show is generally family-friendly, with exactly one curse word, said by Buford in the second act. You will have to submit an audition for each character you would like to be considered for, with the exception of "Ensemble"; everyone who submits an audition for any named character will automatically be considered for ensemble roles/bit parts unless they request otherwise.
The biggest priority of this show is having fun, so try to let loose and have a lot of fun with your audition. If you have any questions, feel free to message me. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing your auditions!

Partially Cast!
Hello everyone. Thank you for your patience regarding the casting of M.W.C.A. (Musical Without a Cool Acronym). At this time, the show has been partially cast. For most lead or secondary roles, we have either cast an actor or decided to hold callbacks to further evaluate our decisions. If you auditioned for Phineas, Ferb, Perry, Doofenshmirtz, Isabella, Vanessa, Jeremy, Baljeet, Buford, Carl, Stacy, Norm, or Jenny, you should have received a message saying either that you have been cast, that we would like you to send in a callback, or that we would like you to read for another character. If you did not, you can assume you are no longer being considered for that role. Please know that we had over 150 auditions, more than there are days of summer vacation, from over 100 talented actors and we were unfortunately not able to cast everyone in a prominent role. The roles of Linda, Lawrence, the Fireside Girls, and all ensemble bit roles are still being determined. Please continue to check back for updates. Thank you so much! -

And that’s a really big deal! So I invited Stacy and Jenny over to help me figure out what to wear to the dance, but then Phineas and Ferb built this really big laser tag colosseum with cannons and lava and mechatronic bugs, so I had to put my life on hold to tell Mom what they were doing but she didn’t believe me so I ran here with this blaster thing to prove everything, but when I tried to fire it off, it just-- Okay, it didn’t do that. Please tell me you saw that!"-Singing Lines-
At the 0:46 mark of "The Room Where It Happens", sing the following (chorus should be an octave above Burr):
"A triangle and a rectangle sit in the backyard
Brothers way younger than men, ten
They emerge with some blueprints for inventions that haven’t been
thought of since the pen, then
The adolescents build one with unprecedented constructive efficiency
An escalator that can take you to the moon
Or a rollercoaster spanning the town built in a morning
But then it’s gone that afternoonNo one’s ever in the room where it happens
The room where it happens
The room where it happens
No one’s ever in the room where it happens
The room where it happens
The room where it happens
No one really knows how the gadgets here
Which are quite severe all just disappear
And Mom assumes it never happened
Because she’s never in the room where it happens"

One day he will propose!Omigod! Omigod you guys
Candace Flynn's gonna win the prize
If there ever was a perfect couple, this one qualifies

Teal-colored pet platypus of Phineas and Ferb who lives a secret double-life as Agent P, tasked by the O.W.C.A. to thwart the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Agile, skilled in combat, devoted to the job. Loves his host family and cherishes his limited time with them.
This is a non-singing, non-speaking role. We are looking for someone with good facial expressions and physicality. Ability to puppet is a bonus.
Record yourself making the platypus noise.
Record yourself breaking out of a trap. What this trap can be is entirely up to you. You could crawl out from under a desk, maneuver out of a cage, climb over something, etc. This is a chance to show off your creativity and physicality. Have fun here.
Play the Perry the Platypus theme song. For the duration of the song, record yourself striking action poses, kicking, punching, doing cartwheels, flips, etc. - anything that could be shown on camera during fun action sequences and transitions in the show. For a better idea of what we're looking for, you can watch the Perry the Platypus theme as it was originally performed in the 2019 UMBC production.

47-year-old self-proclaimed evil scientist from the country of Drusselstein. Plots diabolical schemes to avenge wrongdoings from a neglectful past. Eccentric and clueless, theatrically villainous but not genuinely evil. Cares for his daughter and nemesis.
Songs Sung:
-"Doof's Lament", parody of "Alexander Hamilton" from Hamilton (Lead Vocalist)
-"Ya Got Evil", parody of "Ya Got Trouble" from The Music Man (Lead Vocalist)
-"The Room Where It Happens" from Hamilton (Shared Lead Vocalist with Candace)

-"Summer Belongs to You" from Phineas and Ferb (Featured Solo Line and Ensemble)
Vocal range: D3-E4 (A4)
-Speaking Lines, from the cartoon-
"Back in Gimmelshtump in the days of my youth, the Doofenshmirtzes were a proud family. But those were lean times for my father and our beloved lawn gnome was repossessed.""Behold, my Make-a-Mountain-out-of-a-Molehill-inator!"
"Curse you, Perry the Platypus!!!"-Speaking Lines, from the musical-
"So you see, Perry the Platypus, my work will be cut out for me! Literally! All I have to do is aim my Poolinator at a bunch of citizens’ backyards, shoot some lasers, wait for people to inevitably install swimming pools, charge them inflated prices for chlorine, make copious amounts of money, run for mayor, show up my brother, and BEGIN MY EVIL REGIME OF THE TRI-STATE AREA! It will be unpresidented! Because I won’t be president; I’ll be mayor. You’ve got to start out realistically. I’m a realist."
-Singing Lines-
After the jingle at the beginning of "Doof's Lament" (Alexander Hamilton), sing:
"How does a duck-billed, beaver-tailed mammal always wearing a fedora
Thwart all of my schemes with such aplomb and with persistence
Consistently reduces my net gain to zero
Who is this teal-colored hero?
A monotreme who came from south of the equator
Became a crusader, a real instigator
A tiny gladiator, and eleven minutes later
Here I am, and he’s destroyed all of my -inators
Every day he gets his mission, never asks for my permission
To be fair, it’s not a dif-dif-difficult decision
It says “Evil” on my building, so I’m always under suspicion
He just shows up with a music sting and beats me to submission
You think it’d get me down, but I’m not placing blame, man
Sitting here all day was really getting kinda lame, man
Vanessa comes to visit, but it’s really not the same
I think I’m really glad you came
What's your name, man?
Perry the Platypus
His name is Perry the Platypus
And there’s not a lot we can discuss
But that’s okay
That’s okay"

"Hey Mom… yeah… yeah it’s tonight. Dad gave me his keys… I don’t know, something evil… No, I mean he’s actually being evil. I heard him test fire a laser earlier… He’s calling it his Pool-inator, sang a whole song about it… No, it’s evil! He thinks he’s gonna take over the world, or… You don’t believe me?... He does this every day. I don’t know how you didn’t notice when you were married to him.... I’m not being dramatic, Mom. I gotta go."
"[pointing a weapon at Monogram] Not so fast! Step away from the evil scientist."-Singing Lines-
Sing the entirety of "Not So Bad a Dad":
"You were a substandard dad
But the only one I had
I grew up hearing your evil scheming down the hall
But when I look at this thing
It makes me wanna sing
Maybe you're not so bad a dad after all
At my first ever swim meet,
You stepped on the other team's feet.
At my recital you clapped louder than you should
But when you taught me how to drive
We actually made it home alive
I guess it's possible not every part of you isn't good
I know at times I would cringe
Like when you wore all that fringe
And when you went out of your way to catch that foul ball
But this piece of plastic in my hand
Makes me finally understand
Maybe you're not so bad a dad
Not so bad a dad after all"

It's time that we partied down"Backing track - https://drive.google.com/file/d/14ttIwBzvk9HmF0XuduHDGhNy5OZehMR9/view?usp=sharing (copy and paste link)

Sir?"-Speaking Lines, from the musical-

"I am a woman of science! At least that's what my horoscope said."-Speaking Lines, from the musical-
"Candace, where have you been? Red team was down a player when you ran off. We probably could have won! Instead it ended in a stupid tie... I’m not a huge fan of the 'everyone’s a winner' mentality. It’s conditioning our youth to be unaccustomed to failure."-Singing Lines-
