VA 201 - Class 1 Homework Portal

VA 201 - Class 1 Homework Portal

Project Overview

Homework:

- 10-20 minute exercise routine (including breathing, cork, doggy pants, articulation etc) . New exercises to be introduced periodically.

- NOTE:  JUST 10 CCC Auditions Per Week (as we can see those ones), but WHEREVER you audition as long as you average 1+ per day over the week. I'm not grading or checking up in you but you should want to keep trying something every day or two. Sometimes I do 10-20 a day with the sites I'm a part of or pay-2-play so if you're doing twitter, BTVA etc that's cool too

- Monologue Homework Assignment - TWO OPTIONS THIS WEEK TO PICK ONE TO CHOOSE TO PERFORM/RECORD. Don't feel you need to get it all in one take - practice it and record several takes and choose the best lines from each and send me one final take - but if you are still too green in editing, your best take will do!

Please choose ONE script below and record and upload via the homework link.  Get used to following directions and naming your files properly as follows:

FirstnameLastname_Script1_Class1.mp3

FirstnameLastname_Script2_Class1.mp3

Just copy and paste this script into a new document to make it easier for you to read if you'd like, and to make notes on it etc.  Always feel free to change the fonts size, color arrangement, style etc. to suit your reading needs.

SCRIPT1

I've been sending this show all over the freaking country. And you mean to tell me I did all of that for nothing? I've got the chance of a lifetime here – you too! You may never get another opportunity like this one. Just because you hate it - what gives you the right to punish me, to take this away from me? I mean, come on! Do you think anyone would have produced the show you wrote? It was so... gooey. Sappy, sentimental, cheesy, corny, and Hallmark. Lifetime-made-for-TV-movie, Bridges-of-Madison-County, Oprah-book-of-the-month-club gooey!

[PARTNER collects belongings and starts to leave. CHARACTER panics.]

No. Wait, don't go. Please? You're holding all the cards here, okay? You've got me right where you want me - desperate, okay? So, I will listen to whatever you have to say. And I won't be hostile. I promise. Just, please... Sit back down, have a drink with me, and tell me what I have to do to work this out. Please, come on... This is my one shot to actually use my ridiculously expensive Theatre degree. I really don't want to end up teaching high school drama and English. Don't you see how badly I need this? Can't you at least sit down and talk to me? Please?

SCRIPT2

Don't you dare walk away from me! And don't tell me you're sorry! And don't tell me to forget it, and don't you dare tell me to "let it go." God knows, I'd like to. I wish I could, but I can't! I can't forget that we had something, and you're running away. You're running away! Don't you see? You're running from what I've searched for all my life! Why, because you're scared? Well, I'm scared too, but you and I - we have something worth fighting for. We could make it work, I'm not saying it would be easy, but I care about you. And I know deep down, under this (Spitting out the word) 'bravado', you care about me. And that's what it's all about... don't you get it?

It's the human experience. You can pretend all you want, but you're only lying to yourself. You're denying the simple and wonderful fact that you are emotional, and vulnerable, and alive. Can you honestly stand there and tell me that I mean nothing to you? That everything that happened that night was a lie? That you feel nothing? (CHARACTER is crying or close to it. The following is a painful statement that they makes not to attack or threaten PARTNER but rather, to allow them self closure with the situation.) I feel sorry for you. I'll move on. I'll find someone else. I'll be all right, because I will know that I tried. That I did everything I could. But someday you will look back, and you will realize what you threw away. And you will regret it always.

Also here is my email - [redacted] or [redacted] (they both end up in the same email box)

And here is a link to that FANTASTIC education tool I may have talked about - The Ultimate VO Survivor - https://getmicd.com/UVOS and you can watch all previous episodes here - https://getmicd.com/recorded-episodes/

I also have a sister company https://getmicd.com that has tons of great upcoming and downloadable products and services that are worth GOLD in our training/store section - we are two wild and crazy gals, giving away all the top industry secrets....our next one coming up is Self Direction and once I announce it - we will sell out immediately as this is a much needed skill set - rarely taught.

And last but not least - the song that I wrote called "Just A Word" - I think you'll really like this one so have a listen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4ypFzYAPEg.  (this and 6 of our other songs are available on spotify - BOOTLEGGED is our band name)

Big hugs everyone

see you next week
