Project Overview
The project is
The silk road is an indie visual novel in development by VolticGlitch, this is a passion project that I have been creating as a novel for the past 3 years but have decided recently to adapt it into a visual novel showing the key parts of the story to help reach a wider audience and gather feedback! This will be my first time putting together a visual novel but I’m an experienced writer from other works!
When will it be released?
In terms of the VN it is in very early development stages, the story is ready, the characters and design is almost complete! However I have just started to put the building blocks together, as such this might be a slow progress. The art, sprites and VN adaption chapters need to be written up. So please bare in mind if you are cast it could take some time and this is in VERY EARLY STAGES. It may take a while until I require lines from you!! I am hoping to release the project to itch.io upon completion.
If chosen, what should I expect?
As listed above the visual novel is in early stages, it could take some time until I require lines! I will be working on a chapter by chapter basis. When chapter 1 is ready, the voicelines will be sent out to the VA’s involved with said chapter and nothing else will be required until chapter 2 etc. As this is a passion project and not going to be made for profit I will be extremely lax and easy-going with deadlines. And will be able to work with you if you need more time etc

So. About TSR / Important backstory
The story takes place in a city named Sluving.
Sluving was originally a land used for oil rigging, set about in the middle of the ocean away from civilization and completely isolated. It’s original purpose was to house criminals on life-sentence to carry out their sentences working on this small chunk of land. However overtime the city has become unkept, dilapidated and fends for itself with little interference from the outside. No new people are sent there, it’s inhabitants all descended from those criminals who were forced labour all those years ago. The reason for their isolation? Sickness. The city has been terrorised with a series of never-ending disease and plague that never seems to clear up, it’s been deemed by the rest of the world as too dangerous to be involved with. Heartlessly leaving the denizens to fend for themselves, those with the most power being born from those wealthy oil barons of years past. Or the infamous company that occupies the very centre of the city. TSR. A company seemingly dedicated to creating and selling numerous protection and cures from the unending plagues.

Accent - Open to either British or American
Corvo has had a rough upbringing, being raised by an abusive drunk father. Corvo had to kill his abuser as a teenager as a means of escaping, taking to life on the streets. He has been through some of the worst instances imaginable being a ‘street rat’. Before the story takes place he’s a petty pickpocket thief looking for ways to make ends meet. Despite this he is extremely optimistic and hopeful for the future, he knows his way around. And holds important networking/people skills. He is a sunshine-coded individual who is a stark contrast to G. He’s extremely feminine in design.
Voice inspiration-
I imagine Corvo sounding soft but confident, comes across as friendly and dependable but can stand his own in a fight when push comes to shove, with a little attitude showing here and there. Looking for a lighter (Not deep) male voice, with a happy go-lucky attitude for the most part.
I’m open to interpretation with him but here’s some voice inspirations I can imagine him sounding similar to Izaya (durarara)

Vince is a conniving attention-seeking scumbag, a mischevious soul with many false faces. He's a social butterfly, having mastered the way to get what he wants from people. All he wants is to gain more and more power and influence over people, there's no better feeling for him then being idolised or worshiped by his peers. Extremely self centered and only ever looking out for No.1, he would sell his own mothers grave for a profit. He is the partner of the CEO of TSR and is extremely charismatic yet unhinged. The drugs he’s on causing him to act pretty erratic at times, coming across as a sociopath. His skill is socialising and being able to wrap nearly anyone around his finger, the only thing he truly seems to care about more than himself is Elmer Arrison. Vince used to be an enforcer, being one of the gang like thugs who would go make citizens ‘cough up’ who hadn’t paid their debts yet, and is now in a rather cushy position since dating the CEO. With as much spending money and depraved side activities to keep himself busy instead, additionally he acts as Elmer’s spokesperson as part of their situationship. He will be seen at every meeting and so on, essentially doing all the socialising on behalf of Elmer.

I have always imagined this voice but just a little less “gremlinfied” and a bit more smooth! But with the same unhinged mannerisms on occasion. He is the closest headcannon voice I have. I definitely want his voice to be one of the more ‘fun’ sounding of the bunch. He must sound extremely confident and sure of himself.

Age : (Is on the slow-ageing drug he created, but is frozen around the age he took the drug. He should sound in his early/mid twenties)
Professor Elmer Arrison is Sluving's biggest prodigy, he were a boy full of promise and hopes for the future of tech advancement, His IQ was unmatched and he was able to come up with inventions the likes the world had never seen before. Son of a rich oil-baron he grew up in privilege but extremely alone.He is a name in history textbooks and seemingly nothing more. When alive he was known for his ill-temper with a cold and rude attitude towards pretty much anyone. Elmer had grown to absolutely despise the human race, seeing them no better than disgusting insects that were cluttering up the earth. An absolute unforgiving nihilist with a sour attitude that causes people to be severely uncomfortable in his presence. Behind closed doors working for the infamous company The Silk Road while being Sluving's ‘mad scientist’. He is the one cooking up both virus’s and cures under TSR’s orders, with very little care for anything. That is aside from Vincent, as time went on him becoming almost like the other’s shadow. Letting Vince speak for him in meetings or uncomfortable situations as part of their deal.
His attitude comes from great trauma.
Whoever gets his role will also be voicing his AI voice (same voice but with an effect added)
Voice guidance -
Elmer should sound southern american, he should have a very strong twang to his voice. Extremely moody sounding and just a little deadpan at times. Extremely argumentative in nature with a short fuse, he should sound extremely bitter and sour as if he REALLY does not want to be dealing with anyone or anything. With rare moments a more human side to him peaks through.
I can also imagine him with a bit of a croakiness to his voice where he's so fed up.

Vienna is the current CEO in charge of all things going on at The Silk Roads HQ. Her and Vincent are seen as the "celebrity couple" of Sluving, With Vince having to be able to gain alot of social status all from simply dating her. She's extremely confident and headstrong much like Vincent, like her pre-decssors is always looking for ways to manipulate the most power from her situation, wanting to keep a tight control over Sluving and it's people. Is very bueatiful in apperance and looks 'picture perfect' alongside Vince, she's determined to have him truly fall for her... Vienna isn't a fan of Elmer, has said many times his dark blue lifeless eyes give her the creeps. And hates the fact he always seems to be in Vince's shadow…
Voice direction:
My original concept for her was to present almost as a femme-fetale type of character, to others appears extremely elegant and sure of herself. Looking for a young adult female voice that shows calm and confidence, a voice that would be stereotypical for a “pretty” character. She can have a British OR posh American accent.

“Cute. If it wasn’t for me nothing would get done now, would it? Vince is always preoccupied these days… Not that I can complain much. At least he’s doing his job… (sigh) for the most part.”
A former street-urchin. He's been put in charge of the youth group set up by Vince, All responsibility falls on him to make sure the job gets done. Or he usually faces the brunt of the punishment. Displays a rather cold and quiet exterior, Only feeling he should speak when necessary. He's been looked after by Sabrina and Diego for sometime and is learning to have a more cruel outlook on the world around him. Zach has given up with hope of ever getting out or leading a normal life and has submitted to TSR's will, All defiant fire being snuffed out long ago. Vincent can be extremely cruel to him in particular often leading him to cover up, The sight of him seems to make Vince think of somebody from his past... But he can't quite pin it down. All he knows is the mere sight of the boy makes him angry or feel guilty half the time.
He will have the most important role in the Side character category, having a redemption line and gradually growing to trust others. Would want the VA to be able to display that emotion as the story continues.

(Frustrated)“I TOLD YOU. Quit askin’! You’re gonna get us all into shit, there’s only so much I can do to-!... (exasperated sigh, calming himself a moment.) I need to keep you safe. You’re my family. Not them.”
“You heard him, let's get this done.”
A member of the youth group set up by Vince, works alongside Zach and Diego. The loudest member of the group, with people mainly having to deal with her in a conversation. She's been there the longest and has long since become accustomed to the way things work around there. Her bigmouth can usually get her into trouble, usually having to boss the lessers around. But is also able to take an almost motherly role, in the end she is just trying to make sure herself and those around her are surviving by whatever means. Even if it requires being the more boisterous, in your face type. Compared to the others her skin is a sickly shade, more ashy. Exposed to a series of things she shouldn't of been. Her passion is cats, usually getting into trouble with Vince from stray cats she continues to feed and take care for. Even going so far as to make her own inspired clothes. Surprisingly hasn't had many negative interactions with Sparky... The bot seems to enjoy the odd cat or two she brings to him.
Voice direction: I want her to sound playful, rowdy and hyper.Open to accents.

Age 17
The oldest member of TSR's youth program. Working together with Sabrina and Zachary to organise the distribution of virus's. He pretty much seems to live in sabrina's shadow and will follow her and back her up on anything. Known for being a bit rowdy with a craving to fight, Is the most physically capable of the bunch and does most the grunt work. Originally a lost wayward soul until meeting Sabrina, With the two forming a co-dependency almost immediately. The others don't like to start fights with Sabrina for this exact reason, Diego will be around. The towering height compared to the rest of them usually stopping anyone from so much as raising their voice to Sabrina or Zach.
