Thank you for your interest in the Tonikaku Kawaii Fandub by AniClash Studios! Tonikaku Kawaii is a Romance, Slice of Life manga series produced by Kenjirou Hata. The production of this fandub is mostly for fun and to show support for this great series!
AniClash Studios is working on a commercial visual novel currently in development called Zeta Wolf Chronicles. If you would like to check out our previous/ongoing work, please check our twitter or previous works video above! We have worked with several VA's exclusively from Casting Call Club in our works. As a side project, we wanted to try our hand at dubbing Tonikaku Kawaii, a great slice of life series with a unique (and rare) bond between our two protagonists.
This fandub project is mostly under wraps for now, but scripting and sequencing of the first episode is nearly complete! We're just missing your voices and acting ability!
To summarize the project, we are working with the English translated manga pages and giving our own unique performance to it. It allows you a clear and concise picture of the character and line being said, much like dubbing a comic book. Images of your character during said lines will be provided to you in your own personalized script when your lines are due. The voices and sequencing of the manga will be complied into a youtube video for each chapter.
- Main Characters (Nasa and Tsukasa) can expect 300-500 words per chapter
- Supporting Characters can expect 100-300 words per chapter
- Minor/Extra Characters can expect 100 words or less per chapter
There is no NSFW content in the Tonikaku Kawaii manga/fandub, but you can expect some suggestive content, flirting or innuendos present.
Some Additional Tips for the audition:
- It is "ok" (actually encouraged) to post process the audio after recording raw. If you need to apply noise removal filters or some EQ, it is likely to produce a more pleasing result to the ear. The first impression really counts the most! Don't rush your submission. We usually cast for all roles very close to the deadline. No excuse not to listen to your audition and self-critique (or grab a friend).
- General knowledge of voice acting in the anime medium is recommended. A quick search of Funimation or Sentai Filmwork voice acting on youtube is a standard to aim for.

Noise Removal! - Really can't stress this one enough. Please check your audio for background noise in a program like Audacity. Background-anything can really bring the quality of your performance down.
Casting/Auditioning
You are encouraged to audition for multiple roles, but if selected, you will only be cast into one role (some exceptions could be made for minor/extra roles). If your main role audition is superior to the other auditions AND you auditioned for other minor roles, you will be selected for the main role.
Credits:
Each VA will be credited for their role in the fandub, so if you would like to share your social media or website, it is encouraged once you are contacted.
Duration:
This has the potential to be a long running series. While there is little to no script to write, there is still the production side of the fandub with video editing/scripting and voicework/direction. If for some reason you cannot continue your role, it will be recast. Advance notice will certainly be appreciated in such instances.
Deadline:
You will have a month after receiving your lines to submit them. The reason for this is to allow cast members flexibility in completing the work since this is intended to be a long term project. If you are not heard from within that time frame, you will be recast. If there is some dire circumstance, but you would like to maintain your role, please contact us. Note that some roles do not show up for later chapters, but will be still sent their lines in advance. Nasa and Tsukasa will be sent their lines per chapter, after the initial batch of 5.
Payment:
Only Nasa and Tsukasa are paid roles. These two main roles are paid $5 per chapter. You will be given the script for the first 5 chapters at audition close and will be paid for each completed one. There are a total of 40 currently translated chapters, so you can earn approximately $200 for a main role, long term. However, $25 is a more realistic short-term payout, as that is the script that will be sent to you immediately. Note that chapter length is approximately 300-500 words per main role as described above. Pay reflects a fan-based non-commercial work.
Voice Direction:
You will be provided a full script with reference images for the lines you are set to record. Generally one take per line is preferred, as long as you maintain the quality evident in your audition. Use your discretion based on the line and reference image you are given.
- Pay in USD (Paypal)
- Communication: Email/Discord. Email is the priority for a more direct and professional interchange between directors and cast members. However, opening a group discord is a possibility if enough of the cast are interested.
