TMNT Anime Fandub - Theme Song
Project Overview
The mid 90's saw the release of one of the most peculiar iterations of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise - 2 episodes of an anime OVA based on the hit 1987 cartoon show. It featured most of the characters from the show and boasted a similar art style while also introducing common anime tropes and "SuperMutant" transformations. The episodes have remained in relative obscurity for English speaking audiences (although English subtitled versions can be found online), and an official English dub has never been produced. This has left a gap that this project intends to fill.
In addition to our efforts to create an English dub for the episodes themselves, we are also going to create an English version of the show's opening theme song that will be unique to this project. The song, titled "Power Up Turtles," was originally performed by Japanese singer Hironobu Kageyama with lyrics written by Yukinojo Mori (you can have a listen to the full-length album version in the video at the top of this page).
For our purposes, we will be creating an English version of the "TV Size" version of the song (roughly half the length of the album version). Taking inspiration from the original, I have written all-new English lyrics (making sure to keep the requisite cheesiness and hyper-optimism intact) and have the necessary music track ready to go. This all means that we are now at the stage where you come in! We are looking for a vocalist to perform the song who can capture the exciting and energetic tone of Hironobu Kageyama's performance while adding their own flair to it.
