This Magical Girl is a B⭐tch
Project Overview
Oblivious to the adoration of her classmates, Tabbie, grade 8, believes that she is a social outcast; the victim of relentless bullying, especially by a particularly brusque, Halloween-loving classmate.
To add to her problems, as the school's Fall Festivities roll around, Tabbie has a terrifying life or death encounter with an unexpected monstrosity. In her moment of need, three magical pixies appear before Tabbie, granting her power beyond her wildest dreams.
While her tiny handlers expect her to use her powers for good, this newly minted magical girl has other plans in mind: revenge!
This game takes place over the course of 3 acts. As a jam title, our focus is solely on the completion of Act 1. Auditions will open for roles in Act 2 and Act 3 once the Spooktober 2023 VN Jam is over.

Tabbie is a social outcast. Introverted, rude and prickly, she’s been pigeon-holed into this status of unpopular and unlikable through her own lack of self awareness. She has very little tact, easily holds grudges, and habitually blames her issues on other people. The main object of her blame and ire is Eden, a reformed bully who she believes to be targeting her for no reason whatsoever.
In reality, Eden’s brutally honest nature just doesn’t jive with Tabbie’s crippling self-centeredness. She sees him as a threat who constantly tries to tear her down… all the while, he simply tells her about herself in an effort to get her to stop being such a b*tch!

"They're always sneering at me. Like I could never be part of their little cliques. Like I'm less than them. Less than human." (Sullen, brooding)
"Ugh, I can't believe this! I can't believe you guys think it's all my fault!" (Exhasperated)
"That's more than a misfire, you weirdo! You were the one responsible for that crazy monster?" (Snappy, sarcastic)
A popular and well-liked student who keeps mostly to himself. Beneath his calm and amicable surface brews a seething hatred for Eden, his former bully-turned-friend as the years went by. Seeing Tabbie’s constant conflict with Eden gives him the idea to team up with her, using their joint hatred and newfound powers to try and make Eden’s life miserable. Unfortunately for Tabbie, Calem’s grudges and ire are both easily earned, making him able to flip on her if he feels threatened.

"...You have my apologies. It would seem as though my plans have slightly... misfired." (Calm)
"The answer to that is ambiguous. Yes, and no. Both can be, and indeed are, true." (Cryptic)
"He's a menace. An annoying, terrible menace." (Upset, disgusted)
A reformed bully, and the main object of Tabbie’s hatred. She sees him as a rude and hateful person, constantly picking on her and trying to tear her down, when in reality he’s just brutally honest, outspoken, brash and socially inept.
Despite his brash nature, he's very well liked amongst his peers. Unlike Tabbie, he goes out of his way to try and do decent things for others whenever possible. Similarly, unlike Calem, popularity is never his main goal.

"Listen, are you gonna move or do I have to move you?" (Frustrated, mistakable for anger)
"Hey, no prob! Saving the best for last, right?" (Affable, joking/lighthearted)
"Sorry, Teach, Tabbie just wouldn't move–" (Awkward, apologetic)
Strength is an energetic pixie who's always ready for a good time! Bubbly and eccentric, people often have trouble matching up with his groove. Most would easily classify him as the idiot type; all brawn, and no brains. But you'd do well not to underestimate this little guy. He's a lot more perceptive than others realize.
(The age shown in Strength's voice has yet to be fully determined, so feel free to do a younger/child take as well as an older voice range!)

"It sounds like you just didn't stand up for yourself. You gotta be more headstrong to get the things you want!" (Inspiring, motivational)
"...Aw. How did I know?" (Disappointed, a little sad)
"NO! Are you crazy?! Tabbie, you're not gonna BLAST some random kid!" (Panicked, reprimanding)
Magician is a fun-loving, playful pixie. He loves to show off his magic tricks and make people smile. At least, this all USED to be true until a series of unfortunate events befell him. Now he wishes nothing more than to leave this line of work, or better yet, get revenge on those who wronged him. (Kind of like a certain other girl we know!)
Magician's age is not yet set in stone. Feel free to attempt a younger-sounding or boyish voice as well as a more regular pitch!

"Looks like there was a lot of destruction." (Deadpan observation, matter-of-fact)
"As fun as it would be to vaporize every annoying person on earth, there are other ways to get revenge on them." (Convincing, sly)
"The real strength happens when you want to move heaven and earth for a certain cause, right?" (Questioning, matter-of-factly)
Mr. Teacher is fairly nondescript. Staying true to his very odd last name, he works as the main gang’s homeroom teacher. His corruption in Act 1 made him the first victim of Tabbie’s powers, and as the game progresses he accrues more and more bumps and scrapes along the way.
He’s easy-going and tries to be as fair as possible for the kids, but hates how some of them are immature little monsters. He has a habit of being stepped all over due to their bad behavior, and has to talk himself down from outbursts.
This character is faceless (similarly to the adults in Peanuts), and has a monster form. As a result, expressiveness and an ability to do monster sounds are both highly encouraged for this role!

"Your turn, Eden. Sorry there's only a few left." (Patient, encouraging)
"I'm okay, I'm alright! I just— okay, ow. I think that might be a broken rib. Give me one moment—" (In pain, comedically injured)
"C'mon kids, class is almost starting. Why are the two of you still loitering around?" (Frustrated, a little impatient)
This group consists of Stu, Den, and T. They're all normal, regular 8th graders without faces and with many opinions on the happenings in the school.
They're also all extras. Any voices are fine for these roles, so have fun with your audition!

"That Tabbie is somethin' else. Did she seriously have to ruin our decorations?" (Upset)
"...Did they ever find out who let that skunk loose?" (Questioning)
"Good morning, Tabbie!" (Polite, outgoing, lighthearted)
