INTRODUCTION
Welcome one and all! This casting call is for a short family-friendly original audiobook/drama called “The Traffic Light Trio”, centering around 3 bickering siblings who happen to be, well, traffic lights. Specifically, we’re looking for an array of voices to play the roles of a narrator, Mr.Red, Ms.Yellow and Mx.Green (the lights).
All roles are in the English language. We are excited to be working with y’all and remember that even if you don’t get the role, we will have many other stories in the future!
CHARACTERS
Narrator: A witty yet wise character, whose voice you would commonly find retelling classic fairytales
Mr.Red: The grumpy, easy-to-anger sibling with a gruff voice (30-40yrs)
Ms.Yellow: Your typical sarcastic, emo teenager (16yrs)
Mx.Green : An absolute cutie pie with a voice that radiates innocence (5-6yrs)
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US!
‘Our Tired Tales’ is a storytelling podcast founded by a two-person team, X and O, with episodes based on original stories and retellings of classic fairytales (with a twist!). Our aim is to give our listeners a story they would not soon forget before bed, with morals they can implement in their lives. New episodes can be found on Spotify, Anchor, Apple podcasts and other podcast players every month!
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is February 16th, 2022, however this date is flexible to extensions. We will notify those who have been cast in the roles by February 19th and scripts will be sent immediately after we receive a reply from those sent! All lines/recordings will need to be sent to us by email by February 24th. Note: this is a tight deadline! So if you’re unable to record between February 19th - February 24, please refrain from auditioning!
EXTRA NOTES
Have fun! We’re excited to have people who are passionate in their craft and we hope to do you guys justice!
Please submit clean recordings (a.k.a. No fans, air conditioners, random noises in the background – noise reduction is okay but pls take note that that too much of it might reduce the quality of your voice!)
Adding on to that: pls limit clean up on your voice! Let us handle all the technical stuff <3
Feel free to do more than one take and cut your lines to your best/favorite takes!
Please submit your recordings as one .mp3 file to our email address, which will be provided to you after casting. If the file is too large to submit via email, try sharing your file through Google Drive!
We might ask for line re-dos; HOWEVER we know that your guys’ time is valuable and so we won’t ask for anything we can’t work around in edits.

The cars, however, could not find this appearance as amusing as the lights did, as it often caused quite a ruckus. Why, one time, Mr.Red had caused a ruckus so large that you could hear the honks of thousands of cars from all the way across the world!
“HEY, you three! Stop your bickering! Do you see the mess you have made?”
And so, from that day on, the three lights vowed to never make such a mess as they did that day. The rest of the world, I don’t have time for your problems. I quit, get a new narrator, goodbye!
(annoyed & exasperated) urgh would you stop that god-awful noise? Yellow!! Do your job and shut them up already!
(furious, trying to explain to Green) THERE IS NO RUDOLPH, AND THERE IS NO SANTA, YOU MORONS!
(borderline crazy from dealing with the other lights) I’M RED. RED! RED RED RED RE-
*sickeningly sweet* Of course, there is Red! You’re shining so bright Santa might as well be here in seconds!

*sarcastic cheering* Santa, Santa, Santa!
*crying. literally just crying*

"HEY, WATCH IT!"
(exasperated, angry and tired of traffic) "OH MY GOD!!!"
(tired of traffic, relieved the road is open) "GOD, FINALLY!"
