The Soulmate Quest
Project Overview
The Soulmate Quest is about two princesses* with a potential soulmate bond going on a quest to kill a dragon and put a stop to their kingdoms’ war. They meet friends and allies along the way, learning about identity and choice (and falling in love).
Short episodic scripted audio drama. Fantasy Adventure and Romance.
3 episodes about 2500-4000 words in length each, about 20-40 minutes per
Recording is remote and asynchronous. Communication will happen via Discord.

Emma is the main character, the princess of Pheba. She dislikes the soulmate names because she doesn’t like men, and her soulmate’s name is James. Emma journeys through the Badlands with Jam on a mission to kill Tegot, the dragon. Her specialty is sword-fighting. Emma narrates at least part of every episode.

I’d gone on so many soulmate quests, I couldn’t even keep track of them all. All of them were completed. None of them made the names on my hands turn gold. None of them were my soulmate.
Right. Defeat the near-godly dragon. On our own. (sarcastically) Would you like anything else while we’re at it?
I'm Emma. (pause) (awkwardly) Right. Likewise. Er, the pleasure is all mine.
Jam is the other main character, the prince(ss) of Astar. She is non-binary, and gets misgendered a lot in the first episode. They dislike the soulmate names because they don’t like what they were named at birth. Jam journeys through the Badlands with Emma on a mission to kill Tegot, the dragon. Her specialty is niche history.

Roela lives in the Badlands and has rejected the soulmate names entirely. She is the leader of the Badlander village of Fatefall. She accompanies Emma and Jam to fight the dragon.

Firinn is a mystical hermit hiding out in the Badlands. He has strong offensive magic but avoids using it in order to stay hidden from Tegot. He is pessimistic and grumpy. Firinn accompanies Emma and Jam to fight the dragon. Firinn narrates part of an episode.

If we fight Tegot, we will end up as just another magical notch on his belt. He will only grow stronger from our defeat.
Ainn is a monster (bugbear) with magic. She lives in a cave in the Badlands and accompanies Emma and Jam to fight the dragon.

Tenor is a monster (naga) living in the monster town of Spelldrift. They are wary of humans and very passionate about their life.

What you meant was that because we are monsters, you don’t think our lives are worth living anymore.
Baidro is the leader of the monster town of Spelldrift. He is blind, and a centaur.

Tegot is the dragon, the creator of soulmate magic and the main villain of the series. He was not always a dragon, and has some lines as a human; the human vs. dragon voices should differ slightly.

(as a dragon) Foolish mortals! You dare venture into my lair!?
A human who was alive during the Era of Magic. Had the power to transform people into random monsters. The villain to the villain.
