Project Overview

This is a casting call for a manga dub of The Promised Neverland! It's a fan project that aims to turn the Goldy Pond arc from the manga into a 10 episode audio drama, as both a compliment to the manga and a project that can be enjoyed on its own.


What I'm looking for:

*Clarity. Good enunciation and projection are important. Any good story can lose its effect if it’s not being understood. This is also where mic quality comes in.

*Honesty. A fancy word we used in my acting classes for “act natural.” I would rather have someone give an audition in their normal speaking voice with a performance that's natural and genuine than an elaborate voice that they're not comfortable with. I also think finding the right level of inflection is important, because you don't want to sound monotone, but you also don't want to sound forced or over emphasize words.

*Confidence! Sounding comfortable and confident in what you’re doing makes a huge difference. If necessary, fake it ‘til you make it.


Multiple auditions are expected and encouraged.

The age and gender listed for each character is simply a quick reference for what the voice should sound like, and doesn't reflect on any restrictions for actors.

  • Audition Update/Change Log

    Thank you everyone for almost 80 submissions! I’ve had a great time listening to everyone’s auditions. Here are just a couple things I wanted to discuss and clarify! One role has been cast, but no other roles will be closed until after the deadline. To those considering auditioning, please audition! We still need plenty of voices. To those who have already auditioned, don’t feel discouraged by not being contacted early! There is currently no plan to extend auditions. Multiple people have left their Discord information, which is appreciated but not required! If cast, everyone will be informed through this casting call first. That aside, I’ve made a few changes to the audition page that I think are worth noting: *A couple people asked what I was looking for in general, so I added a section in the project description describing that. *Specified that multiple auditions are expected and encouraged. *Added an audio editing position! *Updated Mister’s voice description to something a little more specific to what I'm looking for. *Reordered some of the characters so some of the antagonists and certain Goldy Pond kids are more visible and might get a little more love! *Added specifics to some character voice descriptions. *Changed Mister and Lucas' age range to "young adult" from "middle aged" to improve search results. Late 20s. Gruff, grouchy, and a little smarmy. Oscillates between indifference, threatening, and regretful. Should be pretty low in pitch. I have trouble describing what I want for this character, and the best way I can describe it is Dub Law from One Piece and Leorio from Hunter X Hunter had a baby and it’s just gruff Matt Mercer who’s a 12 year old trapped in an adult’s body with trauma and a drinking problem but there is no alcohol so he’s just depressed. Do with that what you will. Needs to have energy!

  • When I finally reached this place, Minerva wasn’t here. I waited for him a long time, but he never showed. No way around it, the man’s a dirty liar. I gotta hand it to him though, this place has food, water, electricity, and a whole lot of valuable information, so cheers to that.

  • Shut up! I don’t want 15 bloody corpses in my home! I could care less about you brats. The next one’s not for show. Leave, or I blow your heads off!

  • Change what? How? No matter how much I regret it, I can't change the past. And my dead friends won't return. Distraction is good enough. As long as you all disappear. You're right. You are just like me when I was younger, you can't save anyone. And you think you can help me? What a joke.

12. Determined and sometimes intense. She can be cute, but I'm not looking for a particularly high voice. Something that's a little more middle range and natural would be preferred. Needs to be able to be thoughtful and emotional as well.

12. The oldest of the Grace Field kids. Sometimes a bit deadpan when trying to act cool and collected, but he deeply cares about his family gets emotional when they're in danger. Probably needs to be the lowest voice of the kids under 13, his Japanese or English dub voice is actually a good reference. 

  • Then calm down and listen. If Minerva is going back and forth between worlds, he won’t always be on this side. And if humans just stood around out in the open like this, they wouldn’t last very long, right?

  • There’s no way we can just leave! We’re in the middle of a wasteland. Where would we go anyway? Just wander around aimlessly? It’s too dangerous, especially with the kids. And giving up and leaving this place would sever our one lead to Minerva. We can’t afford that. But… Emma!

  • Lemme go! Let go, you-- Damn it! We were being so careful! Damn it!

18. Strong and skilled, he's usually the one to put himself in danger to protect the others. As a result of his own injuries, he's become adept as a medic. Looking for a lower voice with the ability to have a soft quality, in contrast to his more rough and tumble actions.

11. One of the four oldest children from Grace Field. He is often left in charge of the younger kids, even if he is sometimes childish and goofy himself. Looking for something that sounds "older brother" ish but doesn't have to be super low.

17. The leader of the Goldy Pond kids. He is one of the physically strongest. He's often shown trying to keep the other kids calm and focused, although sometimes he still shows his anger and despair at the situation. His voice needs to be the kind that would carry across the room, but isn't harsh. He might would sound a bit like Lucas in tone.
