The Promised Neverland: Manga Dub

Project Overview

(Explainer video coming soon!)

Hi! I'm currently looking for people to help voice characters for a manga dub of The Promised Neverland. I'm currently trying to get chapter one out at the moment, and as we progress, more chapters and characters will be added, so if you don't get a part, don't worry! I'll update this as time goes on!

Some things about this project:

It'll be edited into video format and put on youtube. I'm aiming to try and add a soundtrack too (trying to see how copyright strike might affect me using the anime OST, but we'll see!)

Everyone is welcome to audition, but since the manga itself is pretty dark, I'd really rather everyone be over the age of eighteen.

We'll be using Discord as our prime communication platform, so make sure you have a discord account! You don't need to put it in your audition description (mainly for privacy concerns); rather, if you're notified about a role, I'll ask for it then!

Feel free to retake lines and put those variations into the audition, but please don't put any more than two takes per line. Feel free to also add any singing clips! It's not necessary at all to the audition itself / won't affect it in any way, but if there's a cover you're really proud of, definitely put a clip of it in if you'd like!

You don't need the best / most amazing mic, but I'm looking for at least good or passable mic quality (otherwise it's just hard to listen to.) If you have a mic, but don't have access to it at the moment, please let me know in your audition description and I'll have you rerecord your lines at a different date once you have mic access!

Mama (Isabella)
open
Unpaid

Isabella worked as a caretaker in Grace Field House, taking care of the orphans that resides within. Although initially appearing as a loving and affectionate mother towards the children, she actually has a twisted nature and shows much detachment to their tragic fates.

Isabella is a fair-skinned, tall woman with a pair of deep purple eyes. Her dark brown hair is tied into a bun that hangs down onto the back of her head. She wears an attire which consists of a black dress with a white blouse underneath it and a white apron over it. She has the number "73584" tattooed on the right side of her neck.

The present Isabella is a sharp-witted, ruthless, cold, manipulative, and deceiving woman. But in her Mama persona, Isabella is capable in putting on a motherly, selfless, and kind-hearted facade whenever she is around the orphans in Grace Field House, and hence was able to earn the trust and love from her foster children.[9] Isabella's behavior is very mercurial, capable of switching between seemingly true affection for the orphans to extreme loathing and threat of violence towards those who defy her. Isabella was unhesitant in taking down those who stand in her way and root out the children that knew of Conny's death, both emotionally, verbally, and even physically.

  • Splendid job, you three! You each got 300's again! Perfect scores!

  • Why would you? I love that side of you.

(Emma: The five year old side of me?!!)

No, the side of you that's considerate and mindful of everyone in the family.

  • (To the demons) Understood. Worry not, and leave it to me.

(From Wikipedia)

Ray is a model student of Grace Field House, who consistently gets perfect scores during the daily exams. He is also known for being an avid reader with high intellectual abilities, blunt skepticism, and cunning. Despite his distant disposition, Ray is able to interact well with the orphans and is fiercely loyal and caring to particularly Emma and Norman.

Ray is a slim boy of average height with somewhat messy short black hair, parted to the right so that the longer, chin-length clumps on his left obscure much of his face. Around the sides, it appears to spike upwards, following the shape of his head, and he also has triangular forest-green eyes with noticeably small black irises.

Ray is 11 years old at the start of the manga.

The lines come from various parts of the first chapter, but feel free to have fun with them! You don't need to read through the chapter and act according to the context; I mainly want to see what you can do with your voice acting skills!

  • (Quoting Mama) "Do you all understand? The gate and the fence marking the boundaries of the forest are extremely dangerous, so you need to keep your distance." ...She's clearly full of it.

  • You managed to avoid capture for... 10 minutes. Hey, that's a new record.

  • You're absolutely right that he's no match for you when it comes down to physical abilities. But he always uses his head, so defeating him is never straight-forward. Furthermore, tag is a game which allows a tactical to shine the brightest.

Norman

Norman is a math prodigy and a model student of Grace Field House, with intelligence that surpasses his peers and even adults. He is also known for being a genius strategist and planner, as well as unbeatable at the game of tag.

Norman is a young boy with short, tidy white hair (platinum blonde in the start of the manga) that's worn parted to his left, a prominently longer piece curving upwards on the side of his head, resembling a horn of sorts, and narrow, inward-tilting blue eyes. The most distinctive physical trait of Norman is his thick eyebrows. He wore the standard orphanage uniform- a white shirt and trousers along with plain shoes. His Grace Field House identification number "22194" is tattooed across the left side of his neck.

Norman is a calm, level-headed, kind, and gentle boy who presents himself to have figured things out because he wants to appear as a reliable person to people around him. At the same time, Norman is a complex individual due to his conflicting morality.

  • (Happily, going along with a joke) No problem. You won't catch me anyway.

  • Let's bring it to her. Although it's probably just better to ask Mama to send it to her later...

  • It's no problem. A lock like this can easily be opened without a key. There's a trick to it, like a small wire puzzle. I wouldn't do this if the circumstances didn't call for it, but... but right now we just have to. We'll just share the blame together later!

Conny

Conny was a young girl with fair skin and oval-shaped blue eyes. She had short blonde hair tied into two pigtails at the back along with short, messy bangs. Like all the other children at the orphanage, she wore the standard uniform; a white shirt and skirt along with plain brown shoes. Her identification number, "48294", could be seen on the left side of her neck.

Conny was a kind, soft-spoken, and gentle girl who loved her family deeply, including Emma, Don, and Isabella. She was also compassionate and caring, as she aspired to become a mother like Isabella once she left the House, and never abandon any children in need.

Emma described Conny to be an absent-minded and blur person, evident when the latter forgotten to bring her own beloved stuff animal, Little Bunny, when she departed from the orphanage. Conny also had intelligence that was average for her age, if not lower than average, as she was one of the youngest orphans to be shipped out of Grace Field House. Conny acknowledged that she wasn't as smart as her other siblings, but she was determined to work hard even after she left the house.

(Spoilers:

Conny does die this chapter, so that means that anyone chosen for the role of Conny will also be kept on to voice other characters that come up as the comic progresses!)

  • I'm giving it my best even after I leave the house.

  • I'm not bright... and I'm not so amazing like you guys... but I want to become a mother just like Mama when I'm all grown up!

  • I'll be fine! After all, I got my Little Bunny with me!

Don

Don (ドン) is a 10-year-old orphan who formerly resided in the Grace Field House. Being one of the smartest children after Emma, Norman, and Ray, Don is considered as one of Grace Field House's "good quality goods". A cheerful but impulsive boy who cares greatly about his family, particularly Conny, he is brought into the escape plan alongside Gilda after the truth of the orphanage is revealed.

Don is a young boy with a slender appearance, dark skin, and a rather tall stature, towering over all the other children at Grace Field. He has short, messy black hair with an undercut and brown eyes. He wears the standard orphanage uniform- a white shirt and trousers along with plain shoes. Like all other orphans at Grace Field House, he has a number tattooed onto the left side of his neck, in this case, the number "16194".

Don is perceived by others to be a cheerful, energetic, happy, and social boy who is always friendly towards everyone.[6] In contrast to Gilda, he is very careless, rowdy, less inclined and talkative. He seemed to hold a rivalry with Norman, where he displayed acts of pettiness and childishness. However, he also seems to be fairly intelligent, coming around 5th place in the everyday tests after Gilda.

Similarly to Emma, Don holds a great deal of love towards his siblings and is fiercely protective and cares deeply about them. For example, he swore he would rescue Conny and the rest of the orphans when he was told they were sold off. He also wants to be seen as a person whom his siblings can rely on, so he is always determined to help out and hates keeping secrets within the family.

Don and Gilda don't hold much of a speaking for the first few chapters but they grow in significance as the comic progresses!

  • What the-? You've all been caught already??

  • So basically, they're monsters, monsters raised right in this house! But we normal people have a way of fighting too, just watch!

  • Norman, this is revenge! Let's play again! This time, everyone except Norman is it! How about that?!

Gilda (ギルダ, Giruda?) is a 10-year-old orphan who formerly resided in the Grace Field House. Being one of the smartest children after Emma, Norman, and Ray, Gilda is considered as one of Grace Field House's "good quality goods". A quiet but firm girl, she is brought into the escape plan alongside Don after the truth of the orphanage is revealed. She has a quiet, mature, and gentle personality.

  • So far, I haven't gotten a single letter from any of our siblings that've already departed. I'm sure they've forgotten about us and are living it up every single day!

  • Uuugh! I wanna hurry up and go outside already! I wanna try on all kinds of outfits!

  • You're already eating the same food! Their nervous systems are probably just made of something else.

Nat (ナット, Natto?) is a 9-year-old orphan who formerly resided in the Grace Field House. He is a fun-loving and slightly narcissistic boy who is brought into the escape plan alongside Anna, Thoma and Lannion after the truth of the orphanage is revealed.

Nat is a young boy of average height with brown eyes and a tall nose line (which he takes great pride in). He has short, neatly-kept red hair styled into a bowl cut and bangs which mainly drapes over the right side of his face. He wears the standard orphanage uniform- a white shirt and trousers along with brown, plain shoes. Like all other orphans at Grace Field House, he has a number tattooed onto the left side of his neck, in his case, the number "30294".

Nat appears to be a rather jovial, carefree and fun-loving child. Being an extrovert, he is often seen mingling with the rest of the orphans. He is prideful of his nose line and took Mister's insult of it as a compliment. Nat seems to be easily intimidated, this was shown whenever he sees malicious-looking people or creatures, such as Sonju.

  • Among them is Norman, the genius with the smartest brain ever. Then you have the only one who can keep up with said genius: Ray, the walking encyclopedia. Finally, there's also Emma, the girl with monster reflexes and an astounding ability to learn. She's always following right behind in the footsteps of those two.

  • Jeez... just what do I have to eat to be like them?!

  • They're crazy smart and agile at the same time, it's real insane!

The demons here should have deep voices, but feel free to experiment! There are three demons in this chapter in total, so I'm looking for variety. All demon voices will of course not just be relegated to their own cast parts - they'll all go on to voice more demons (or adults such as Yuugo and other characters) as time goes on!

  • You idiot. That kid is valuable merchandise. Nothing the likes you and I should ever dare to eat.

  • The human meat from this farm is all top of the line stuff, meant for the rich.

  • Six years old again... just the usual. But it looks like we'll finally be able to harvest some high quality goods in the near future.

  • Prepare the three with full scores for their imminent plucking.

  • Hold on... I smell something.
