The Forgotten Path

The Forgotten Path

Project Overview

The Forgotten Path is a haunting and atmospheric adventure-mystery short film that delves into themes of regret, sacrifice, and the unknown. Set in an abandoned village steeped in mystery, the story follows a lone traveller who stumbles upon a forgotten trail and uncovers the remnants of a once-thriving community now consumed by an ancient curse.

This is a character-driven narrative where voices play a critical role in shaping the emotional depth and tone of the film. Each character brings a unique perspective and emotional weight to the story, providing both tension and humanity.

We are looking for passionate voice actors to breathe life into these compelling roles:

  • Edwin: A cautious and introspective traveller driven by curiosity and quiet bravery. Edwin’s voice reflects his resilience and growing unease as he confronts the village's tragic past.

  • The Shade: A menacing yet sorrowful entity bound to the village by the curse. The Shade’s voice is deep, distorted, and layered with restrained fury and regret.

  • Margaret: An elder villager whose maternal and sorrowful voice warns others of the mistakes that doomed her community. Her tone is reflective, filled with both wisdom and regret.

  • Thomas: A panicked yet protective villager who tried to prevent the tragedy. His voice carries urgency, fear, and the lingering guilt of knowing his warnings went unheard.

We encourage you to audition if you enjoy rich storytelling and atmospheric projects. Show us your range as these characters explore fear, regret, and determination against an enigmatic and ominous backdrop.

Submit your auditions by 31st of January. We look forward to hearing your interpretations of these deeply emotional and haunting characters!

[Scene: Edwin standing in the ruins of the chapel, holding the leather-bound book, shadows moving unnaturally around him.]

EDWIN(softly, reading aloud, his voice tinged with hesitation)“They bound the Watcher with their sacrifice... but the curse remains. It feeds, it grows.”

He glances around the dimly lit chapel, his voice lowering, more urgent as he continues.

EDWIN(to himself, quietly but resolute)So it’s not over. Not for them... not for me.

A low growl echoes in the shadows. Edwin grips the book tightly, his voice trembling but firm as he mutters:

EDWIN(whispering, defiant)If this is what it takes... then so be it.

[Scene: The Shade steps forward from the swirling shadows, its voice resonating from all directions.]

SHADE (low, deliberate)You think you can walk away? That the forest will forget you?

Pauses, letting the silence stretch uncomfortably.

SHADE You are no savior, no hero. Just another soul for the darkness to claim.

Its voice grows quieter, almost mournful, as it steps closer.

SHADE (slow, weighted)They gave everything... and still, I remain. Do you know what that feels like? To be their guardian... and their prisoner?

The voice sharpens, laced with venom.

SHADE You will.

  • (distorted, enraged, its voice echoing) You cannot undo what has been done.

  • (finally, with weary malice) You cannot free them... or yourself.

  • (slow, deliberate, as if savoring each word) I am the price they paid. The guardian they summoned. The prisoner they cursed.
