The Arcane Secrets: Visual Novel Game

Project Overview

For the first time ever, my non-profit organization, Genesis would be exploring the mental health aspect of the visual novel game "The Arcana". While it was previously owned by Nix Hydra, it is now owned by the company "Dorian". We are releasing this project as a collaboration with Dorian. 


Genesis had been hosting The Arcana themed workshops via zoom for quite a while now, and our topic was mental health. When we frst spoke to the creative director of Dorian, we said we would bring these workshops onto their platform in the form of a visual novel game, and that's exactly what we're working on. Now you might wonder, if it's a visual novel game, why the need of voice actors?


Well, Dorian has a cool feature wherein, people can livestream games on the Dorian app. We are looking voiceactors to play these characters on a livestream on Dorian. You wouldn't need to have your cameras on, only join with the required username and profile picture and we'll be good to go. This role needs you to be active with your participation. We would be hosting practice sessions via zoom and on Dorian, so we would require you to join these practice sessions because without proper practice, this cannot be done. So ONLY join if you know you can join practice calls.

  • New Role Added!!

    Hello there talented VAs!!

    This update is to let you know that we have just added another role for you: Vulgora. Do check it out.
    We have been reviewing all of your auditions so far, and it has been really difficult to choose one from so many outstanding auditions. We are still debating who to choose for The High Priestess, The Magician, and Volta, but hopefully we'll come to a decision soon.

    But again, if you haven't been selected for the role that you've applied to, know that this is an ongoing project, and I would be adding more roles as we progress. So there would always be opportunities for you. All of your auditions were really amazing, and like I said, it was a struggle trying to choose from the auditions. I always look for real talent, and with all these auditions, I know I'm at the right place. Therefore, I have decided if you have not been cast for a specific role, but your voice suits a specific role really well, I will reach out to you with it.

  • IMPORTANT!! Role update!

    Hello!

    First of all, a big thank you to everyone who has auditioned so far for our roles. However, due to some project related changes, we would have to update the role of "The Magician".

    I would be re-enlisting this role, so if you're following this project, and had applied, please do apply once again if the role fits you. We would be changing the voice range for The Magician.

    Other than that, TWO MORE roles have been added to the casting call. If your preferred genre of VA is comedy, this would be perfect for you!

    On a separate note, we have finalized our VAs for the roles of: The World, The Devil (big plot twist there), and Death.

    Once again, my sincerest apologies for everyone who has already auditioned for "The Magician". I cannot wait to get you all on the team!

The High Priestess is another patron Arcana from the game. She is kind and considerate, always speaking with gravity. Her presence calms people down. Her voice is soothing, and has a very motherly tone to it. I wouldn't imagine her voice to sound too mature, but should definitely be a strong, feminine voice. Kind of like a Queen's. I would imagine her voice to be quite breathy as well.

This character is from a visual novel game called "The Arcana". One of the most pivotal points in this story, he is the villain. He is the patron Arcana who is always calm and cold blooded, plotting against humanity. His voice is deep, almost like a cloud rumbling. I would imagine a British accent for this, but an American accent goes as well.

Death is a patron Arcana in the game. He signifies the end of something and the beginning of something new. He is always mysterious and playful. I would imagine his voice to be kind of.... hollow? Gender-neutral, even. The kind of voice that is mysterious, and you cannot understand whether it's a girl or a boy.

The oldest patron Arcana, The World is the personification of all life forces on Earth. In the story, the World is shown to be pretty sickly, voice faltering every now and then. They are kind and affectionate, and are hopeful that the MC would be able to save the situation. They are a character from The Arcana game as well.

The Magician is a patron Arcana in the game "The Arcana". His character appears as a fox in the game. He is always calm and collected, full of wisdom, yet he never boasts. However, he also never likes to answer things straight when he is asked a question. 

Voice wise, we are looking for a voice that is a tad bit on the deeper side, though not too deep. The kind of voice you would expect to see in a seductive scene (as bad as that sounds). His voice would be smooth like butter, and he should speak slow and with gravity. If you think your voice would be a good fit for him, please do apply!

Volta appears as a courtier in the game, the Arcana. Although she is primarily one of the villains, she is wayy too fixated on good food to think about villainy. And that's why we love her! Volta is really cute, and always gets excited about the smallest things. We imagine Volta's voice to be extremely childish, playful and high-pitched. I imagine Volta to speak fast when excited but while making sure her words are understandable. Her character provides a comic relief to the story. 

  • "Oh I dearly hope we are not late for the banquet! I am FAMISHED for the egg rolls, the spinach pastries, the cranberry pork roast, the- the-- *audible gasp* WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT CAKE OVER THERE?! Volta. Must. TASTE!!

Vlastomil

Vlastomil appears as one of the courtiers in the game, The Arcana. He as well, provides comic relief to the story. While Vlastomil is more evil than Volta, he still lets work slip up sometimes because of his obsession with worms. He is a big people pleaser, and always tries to be on the good book of whoever is in power, without putting much thought into it. I imagine Vlastomil's voice to be a tad bit on the deeper side, but also, maybe a little broken? Like the kind of broken we see when a guy hits puberty. Again, this is just an idea. If you look at his picture and think a different kind of voice would suit him, surprise me!

Vulgora appears as a courtier in the game "The Arcana". Vulgora is rowdy, loud, and volatile with a short temper to match. They have an obsession with destruction and violence, and the only thing that truly interests them is war and similar violent entertainment, such as the fights in the Coliseum which they are very enthusiastic about. I would imagine them to have the kind of voice that almost sounds like a battlecry. Rough, and cruel. Their voice should sound harsh, but should not be too much on the deeper side.

Valerius is one of the courtiers in the story. He is extremely classy, speaks slow and with gravity, stays drunk on wine most of the time, and does NOT like anyone who comes in his way. Voice wise, we were thinking a tad bit on the lower side, with a little bit of attitude. A British accent is preferred but not a requirement.

  • "(Start with a scoff) What am I doing here? What am I doing in my estate you so graciously confined me to? I wonder~ Perhaps I'm scheming yet another evil plan to depose you? Who knows?"
