Project Overview

The Girl Who Fell From Earth

"The Girl who Fell from Earth" (TGWFFE) is a sci-fi tale set in a near-future/parallel reality. It's a "flipped" version of many well-worn superhero cliches.

Disaster strikes the crew of the UK Space Agency's Hawking 4 mission and sole survivor Laura Kingston finds herself in the vicinity of a pulsing red star whose energy gives her amazing superpowers (think Superman/Supergirl). Laura crashes down on the planet Argon, in orbit around that super-empowering sun, a world much like Earth, with billions of inhabitants that look just like Earthlings. But instead of assuming the role of planetary heroine in her new home, she revels in her untouchable superiority and wreaks havoc as she violently sets about conquering and subjugating an entire alien world.

TGWFFE will be a multi-part audio story encompassing several chapters. As such, we are looking for a long-term commitment (approx 5-10 episodes) over the course of perhaps the next 12 months for the recurring characters.  Paid roles (all of them) will be PER EPISODE.  For this casting, we are looking to cast two (2) episodic roles and three (3) recurring roles, including the female protagonist, Laura.

Note:  while this project is not tagged as NSFW (everyone's definition is different), there is a substantial amount of cursing and destructive violence/killing for this project.  If you are uncomfortable with this type of content, please do not audition.

LAURA KINGSTON (recurring role, approx 2k words per episode, $35 per episode) Female-sounding 20-30 years old. The title role. Laura is a model astronaut with a perfect CV with plans to enter politics when she completes her mission in space. But she ends up stranded on an alien planet where she has incredible superpowers (think Superman/Supergirl). Suddenly, she has total superiority over an entire world. She enjoys exercising that superiority in countless ways as she sets about fulfilling her original dreams of achieving power, not through politics, but through merciless, super-powered violence and destruction.

Laura's tone when she encounters the inhabitants of her new home varies between arrogant contempt and heartless mockery. Please note, her actions at various points in the story are extremely violent. She frequently kills, and expresses her joy and/or amusement with it.  Please don't audition if you're not comfortable with that.

At the start of the story, LAURA is a member of a UK Space Agency mission: we require an "educated UK" accent (regional accents are fine).

  • [exercising, out of breath]  four forty three... four forty four... four forty five... (triumphant after breaking record) Four forty Six!  (recovering her breath) Yes!  Knew I could do it!

  • [angry, thinking she is about to die, with her future dreams unfulfilled] No! This can't be it! (fury of injustice) This was supposed to just be the start for me!  I was going to be Prime Minister!

  • [with superior contempt] I've never seen so many pathetic, weak men! Each one is even more helpless than the last. (smiling slightly) It's almost TOO easy!

Role assigned to: Tommy Aguilar

(recurring role, approx 100 words per episode, $10 per episode) Male-sounding 40-60 years old. Pompous and regal when addressing his "public", entitled and spoiled when addressing his subjects in private.

  • [Giving a speech] My fellow Argonites, let us rejoice even more heartily than other years on this Argon Day! We will be celebrating once again our all-conquering civilisation, but today is also a glorious day that will surely go down as yet another jewel amongst the glittering treasure of our history.

  • [Furious, almost throwing a tantrum] How dare you come to me with such ridiculous stories! I refuse to believe that my military cannot deal with a lone woman! You are clearly not issuing the correct orders. As Emperor, I demand an immediate resolution! [pause, then almost embarrassed] Leave the photographs of the alien on my desk. I wish to... study them... er, for weaknesses... in private.

(recurring role, approx 100 words per episode, $10 per episode) Male-sounding 20-50 years old.  The broadcast voice of the alien planet's government/authorities. North American accent.

  • [Broadcasting, with gravitas] Attention Citizens of Planet Argon!  All hail our glorious Emperor Pantz the Thirty-fourth!  Today is Argon Day.  All will celebrate our glorious planet, the mightiest in all the Universe!

  • [Broadcasting, think news-bulletin] Yesterday's weapon test was a complete success.  Billions of citizens have reported seeing the vast ball of light that shattered the darkness of night with the might of Argonite technology.

(One off part, episode one only, approx 100 words, $10) Male-sounding 30-40 years old.  He is an experienced astronaut with an easy-going personality.  Tom is part of a UK Space Agency mission: we require an "educated UK" accent (regional accents are fine)

  • [In response to the question "Who would you like to punch?"] Me? (chuckles) I'm not the punching kind.  I might write a slightly critical letter to whoever came up with dehydrated sausage and mash.

  • [In response to sudden critical emergency] (shouting) Commander?  Commander, can you hear me? (to LAURA, urgently) He's out.  Help me move him!

(One off part, episode one only, approx 100 words, $10) Male-sounding 40-50 years old.  He's the mission commander, experienced, supremely confident and unflappable.  Chris is commander of a UK Space Agency mission: we require an "educated UK" accent (regional accents are fine)

  • [giving a friendly, gentle rebuke to LAURA] OK, before we start the Team Session, a quick informal reminder that these are officially category C occasions.  It's not MUCH of a dress code, but it's definitely NOT T-shirt and shorts either.

  • [kicking off a team-bonding session] Alright, I'll go first. When I get back to Earth, the second I get out of quarantine, I'm going to hunt down the bastard who designed the toilet flush on the control deck and I'm going to punch them in the face.
