Subliminals (Original Sci-Fi Audio Drama)
Project Overview
What is Subliminals?
Subliminals is a long-formed Science Fiction audio drama that’s been in the works for a couple of years now, and is now finally able to begin production. It’s a part of a larger audio drama series titled The Starborn Collective, with no set episode count right now. Subliminals has heavy worldbuilding and lore, and a story that is constantly growing. Subliminals has multiple protagonists, although the main character is Ash, as is listed below.
Requirements:
Everyone on this team is relatively new and inexperienced, so we try to hold ourselves to the same standard that we hold any auditioning voice actors. You do not need to have a professional setup, however having a microphone that can record in good quality and having access to Discord is key to being able to partake in this project. A link to the public Discord server we have created can be found later in this description.
Payment:
Unfortunately, this project is pay-free for the foreseeable future. This is a passion project at the moment that we hope to gain traction on in the future, but it is not currently in our budget to provide payment as we are all young and aspiring creators. Of course, this is subject to change in the distant future if all goes well but is a consideration for the distant future.
Role Significance:
Some voice actors will have to fulfil greater expectations than others depending on the importance of the character that they voice. For example, being in a leading role for this project means that you will likely be interacting with myself and the other producers frequently, so it is good not to have an aversion to social interaction and becoming acquainted with us as a staff team and a community.
Relationships:
Most characters in this show are LGBTQ+ and end up in relationships that are also LGBTQ+. If you aren’t comfortable with portraying that, it’s best not to audition! Thank you!

Main Protagonist // Main Character. Ashley Brannock is a man whose heart is much larger than he would like to admit. He’s someone who’s always loved hard- He loves his family, his friends, his boyfriend, and now, his crew. He’ll do anything for anyone on the Avernus, which is the name of the ship he’s the captain (or, officially, Luminary) of. Despite everything, he’s very skilled at cracking a joke at the right time, and is known for being more than a little chaotic. His passion for the cosmos is one not many people have, and he prides himself on his knowledge. Ash’s inspirations are Arven (Pokémon) and Kaito Momota (Danganronpa V3).

“Hey, check this out— Do you see that little speck in the distance, way out there? Yeah, that one. That’s my favorite star.”

Secondary Protagonist // Main Character. Aster Trueblood is a rather reserved man, having had preferred books over people since he was young. He’s very knowledgeable on a variety of sciences, and won’t hesitate to get a bit stern with you if you won’t listen to Ash. He’s a very reserved person, but once you get to know him, he’s prone to making the occasional wry joke and sarcastic comment (always somehow perfectly timed). Aster’s inspirations are a bit hard to pinpoint right now, unfortunately!

Secondary Protagonist // Main Character. Prys is a rather naive fellow, and Alora Cavell’s apprentice — learning the ins and outs of being a mechanic under someone as famed as her felt like a dream come true. He has a very positive (maybe almost idiotic) outlook on the world, and carries that with him wherever he goes. He adores every member of the Avernus with all his heart, and would do anything for any of them. Prys was based mainly off of Ted Logan (Bill and Ted).

“As long as I can remember, it’s always just been me and Alora. That’s all I can ask for, really. She’s kept me safe.”
“I want the whole truth this time. Don’t keep anything from me.”
Secondary Protagonist // Main Character. Brianna Bailey is an odd woman, seeming to always have her head in the clouds. She’s very intelligent, and serves as the Avernus’s medic, or Curator, but she doesn’t seem to exude that energy, exactly, instead almost purposefully going for that ditzy, ‘idiotic’ energy. She tends to exploit her looks and personality to get some particularly strange individuals to do her bidding, whenever she isn’t tending to her wounded crew members. Bri’s primarily inspired by classic characters such as Barbie, but she’s also got a lot of inspiration taken from characters such as Elle Woods (Legally Blonde).

Secondary Protagonist // Main Character. Alora takes on a sort of motherly role on the Avernus, ensuring everyone else takes care of themselves. She’s the mechanic of the crew (and doesn’t really find herself too fond of the term Greaser). She tends to baby the rest of the crew a bit, but she does genuinely mean well. Alora will always do what’s best for the crew, and do so with a hushed voice and a smile on her face. I can’t particularly pinpoint Alora’s inspirations right now, unfortunately!

Secondary Protagonist // Main Character. Vari’s a very skilled combatant, and not for nothing. She has a sharp tongue and a quick wit, and always has a snarky response to go with the punches she throws. She’s very stubborn, and doesn’t take no for an answer, and isn’t the easiest to boss around, but she’s absolutely fantastic company, especially for if you just need someone to vent to. She’s very angry at the world around her, but she’d do anything for the people she cares about. Vari was inspired by Scarlett Jones and Saedii Gilwraeth (Aurora Cycle).

Secondary Protagonist // Main Character. Warren is a socialite, he loves interacting with the people around him. His friendliness bodes well for his role as a diplomat, but by no means is he refined in his trade - He brings a small element of chaos to the team with his slight snark of an attitude, and his willingness to be an enabler to the chaos of the others. He's very supportive, and loves to indulge the others in their fun, albeit hectic ideas. We cannot quite pinpoint his inspiration, at the moment!

Secondary Protagonist // Main Character. Jove is a laid-back, casual person who likes to go with the flow. He often doesn't show strong emotions even if he's feeling them. Through this veil of casualness, he is a very attentive person who likes to listen to those around them and take in his surroundings, and akin himself with the people in it. He has no issue taking a rough situation and making it much more lighthearted, and put a smile on the faces of those around him. Unfortunately, we can’t pinpoint Jove’s inspirations right now!
