Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW Publishing) Motion Comic Dub - Main Character Recasts
Project Overview
What is this Project?
This is a motion comic dub of Sonic IDW with engaging animation, gripping emotional performances, and detailed sound design created by passionate people with incredible skill.
What is Sonic IDW?
Sonic IDW is an official line of American comic books published by IDW Publishing for the long running video game franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog which was created by SEGA Incorporated. The publication of the comic started in April of 2018.
Requirements
When you record your audio, you need to ensure that your audio meets high standards. Meaning that your audio should not clip/distort, eliminate any plosives produced by sounds from the letters p or b, and have a low noise floor by minimizing static and background noise.
The acoustics in your designated recording place should minimize any reflections produced by hard walls and floors. Excessive room reverb can be difficult to use.
Keep all audio submitted to the casting call as raw as you possibly can. This is so that if a character needs effects, we can audition effects on auditions to see who fits the best.
Applicants should be at least 17 years old (preferably 18 years old). We are looking for people who can show a level of maturity and efficiency in performing tasks assigned to you. Please state your age in your audition description/comments for clarity.
Refrain from slating in your audition. Feel free to include all your relevant information within the audition description as you prefer. Our goal is to hear your performance immediately without any introductory statements such as "Hi, I am [insert name] and I am [age]" or "[insert name]... two takes."
Record at least two takes in the ABC ABC format (read out all of the lines before recording another take.) This is to have variation within the performances and know your emotional range.
Impressions are not what we are looking for, we want original portrayals of these characters using the descriptions provided for the character.
Provide an emotionally rich performance for the characters you are auditioning for. We want engaging performances.
Notes
The casting process will involve three key steps: Shortlisting, Revising the shortlist, and Making final decisions. This approach ensures a comprehensive evaluation of each audition and enables us to select the most suitable candidates for the roles.
We will not cast before the provided deadline. Doing that only causes unfair casting choices which isn’t fair to any of you. However, we will be shortlisting prior to the deadline to make things go faster for when we go over all of the auditions.
Should there be an insufficient number of auditions for a particular role, casting may be postponed to accommodate additional submissions. This practice guarantees that all interested candidates have an equitable opportunity to audition for the role which makes things fair for everyone involved.
Certain roles are currently unavailable on this casting call because of two things. Either the roles are not needed for this set of issues we are working on or they are already filled.
The audio quality of our production is one of our top priorities, and we are dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our listeners. To achieve this, we have formed a team of experts with a wealth of experience in casting voice actors or voice-over work. Our team, including the director, will meticulously review each audition, ensuring a level playing field for all candidates.
The voices you provide in this audition will serve a dual purpose. While they will certainly be used for the IDW comic dub, they will also find application in smaller dubbing projects and various other content we create. Your versatility and talent will be valuable assets across multiple productions.
The rates on the casting call are just the rates you will receive for the first 10 lines you will record and any shorter comic dub we end up using you for. You may be paid more depending on the content you are working on and how many lines you will be recording. The rates are $50 for the first 10 lines and $3 per line afterwards.
All art on this casting call is drawn by Nathalie Fourdraine.

Character Description
Shadow the Hedgehog is an edgy hedgehog with a deep seeded regret in himself. He doesn’t trust others and only lets in certain people and is stand-offish with others. Shadow can almost seem rude at times.
Vocal Description
Shadow should have a deeper, rough voice. It should be subdued but not samey. His voice should show a wide range of emotion but still almost a lack of it (NOT ROBOTIC). A General American accent works out well for his character.

"Have you forgotten that he made you suffer? That he's tried to destroy you--MULTIPLE TIMES? How can you even SUGGEST leniency for him after all of that?" [yelling, angry]
"The doctor's metal virus can't infect the ultimate life form!" [cocky, oblivious]
"Consider this a debt repaid... for Sunset City." [serious, mellow]
Character Description
Espio is a calm and disciplined ninja that acts as the voice of reason in the Chaotix Detective Agency. He has a powerful grip with his Ninjitsu and prefers to stay out of sight rather than in the line of fire. His characteristics are slightly changed in the IDW comics to give him more emotional depth but he still retains his established personality.
Voice Description
Espio's voice should be deep and slightly soft. Keep his voice calm and slightly reserved. His voice does not sound edgy, however. Though, when he requires to be more emotional, you need to show more depth in his performance. He needs to be able to scream when needed. You can use a General American accent but a Japanese accent can be used to give him a little more character.

"Better than that. We began our search in the ruins of Imperial City... So we tried his last known lab, Orbot and Cubot were cooperative but knew nothing." [informative, confident]
"We do not have time to debate. I know it's hard, but we need to follow Vector's lead." [understanding, running]
"It's fine. Vector and Charmy faced the horrors of the zombots on their own. I can do no less. I already have a tactic in mind." [reassuring, analytical]
