Sonic The Hedgehog (IDW Comic Fandub) - Metal Sonic RECAST
Project Overview
Last month, I did casting for a fandub of the first issue of IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog comic. At the time, I had a friend locked-in for the role of Metal Sonic, one of the comic's first antagonists. Unfortunately, at the last minute as I've been getting everything together, I've received nothing from them and have been unable to reach them and have made the decision to cast the role.
So, below you will find the role. This character, so far, has not re-appeared outside of the first three volumes, and in a chunk of those appearances, only has one or two lines an issue. The plan is still to make this an on-going project, therefore when you've been cast, you will receive a script featuring all of Metal's lines for Volume 1, as opposed to just the two lines for Issue 1, and you'll have to keep yourself available for when scripts for Volumes 2 and 3 are coming around.
With that said, here are just some basic guidelines:
- Provide at least two takes of every line, each take, try to do the line a bit differently.
- Don't feel obligated to imitate a VA that has played the character, if there is one. If you can do it really well, cool! But it's also cool to provide a new take on a character.
- Clean, unedited audio! Don't add any filters/effects. If you can do it well and need to, you CAN use a bit of noise reduction, but I want to hear your voice unfiltered, also when it comes to the actual production, it'll sound more consistent if I'm processing unedited audio.

A metallic copy of Sonic the Hedgehog. Designed to look like his counterpart, Metal eventually gave himself the ability to speak and built himself a more unique form, becoming Neo Metal Sonic. This version of Metal often has a lot of spite for his creator, Doctor Eggman, almost as much as he does for his organic counterpart.
Since he's a robot, his voice should have a monotonous quality, though I would still like the actor to be able to emote. Think something like GLaDOS from Portal - unfeeling, but still capable of inflections that indicate scorn, or malice, or sarcasm. Also, don't add any modulation effects to your voice, I want to hear the raw performance.
So...he survived the first trial. Unsurprising. Deploy a battalion to the next nearest town. He'll be drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
Another failure. I did not account for how much Amy Rose has grown. And now Sonic is deviating from my projected path. How...frustrating.
So...Knuckles is still playing hero on the surface. That means Angel Island is unguarded. The Master Emerald is prone. That will accelerate my plans considerably...
