Welcome to the audition for Slice of Life Dubs' audiovisual adaptation of "Sunny Side Skies", a Webtoons comic by SoapOrSalad!
Synopsis: Adam spends his days toiling away at his menial job as a barista and taking care of his little brother, Seth. But an eccentric customer just won't leave him alone...
Make sure to mind the following rules:
1. Please read the comic before auditioning. This is to ensure that you have a good feel for the characters.
2. Please record three takes of each line while paying special attention to the direction provided.
3. You must use an XLR microphone.

Adam is a barista and the de facto guardian of his little brother, Seth. He often works long hours and spends an inordinate amount of time reflecting on past misfortunes. A monotone, mid-to-low range voice with depressed overtones would work perfectly for Adam.
"He's hyper, but he's not a bad guy. And, in a way, he's even more 'together' than me. It's been a while since I graduated and I still have no idea where to go from here. I can't keep doing this forever, can I?" (reflective, depressed)
"Alright, then. How about this: if you don't ace the test, no more extras in your coffee. I'll only give you black." (serious, ominous)
"You can't skip meals like that. Do you want to stay short forever? I'll make you two from now on, but this better be the last time." (chastising)
Seth is Adam's little brother. Like most children his age, Seth has an active imagination and a fascination with children's fantasy, namely the "Toaster Dude" franchise. Due to the abundance of similarities in their temperaments, Seth and Chase get along perfectly from the moment they meet each other. Seth seems to experience bullying from some of his peers in school. He also seems to have a natural knack for stage performance.
Naturally, a high-range and youthful voice would work perfectly for Seth. The role could easily go to a member of any gender.
"He's a super-strong hero who saves the world but has to hide his identity with a common household appliance and pretend he's just an ordinary citizen so he can continue peacefully living his life." (fascinated, awestruck, excited)
"Anyway...Chase, why don't you come over so I can show you?" (excited, giddy, cheerful)
"I was fine when it was double digits...but I don't know what to do when there are three. Is it just the same, or...?" (intensely focused but confused)
Kristen is a gamer girl with a generally casual attitude, but can become hyper-competitive at the drop of a hat. At times, she can be very blunt and come off as much colder than she intends as a result.
A casual, low-range female voice with a sarcastic flair would be best.
"So...you've been talking to that guy more? What was his name?" (inquisitive, prying, excited)
"Hey, I know! Matt and I were gonna hit up the arcade later. Why don't you guys come with?" (cheerful, friendly)
"Hah! You? His best friend? Don't make me laugh. You two barely even know each other. I've known this guy since fifth grade. Top that." (smug, slightly confrontational)
Matt is an extraordinarily awkward young man who repeatedly fails miserably at getting Kristen to think of him as anything more than a friend. His general lack of self-confidence is noticeable at most times, but it reaches its zenith when he's around Kristen.
A mid-to-high masculine voice with a socially awkward flair is ideal. If you can make your voice crack on command, so much the better.
"Okay, Matt. You can do this. After months, you finally worked up the courage to ask her out...and she said 'yes'! That's right! Everything is going perfectly according to plan!" (overly self-assuring, excited)
"Kristen! You, uh, look great!" (awkward, abnormally tense)
"Maybe it's better this way. I mean, just look. He gets along with her so well...so, someone like me probably had no chance from the start." (resigned, sad)
Adam's Ex - who is currently nameless - is seen in multiple flashbacks during Adam's more introspective moments. All that is currently known about her is that she broke up with Adam in the past.
A mid-to-low young adult voice would work best for her.
"Let's break up. Don't get me wrong; I really like you...but you never have time for me." (serious, melancholy)
"You always feel so closed off and...it's like you're not even there. You're just...not what I thought you'd be." (serious, melancholy)
"After all, I'm the only one who can be there for him. And after what happened last time, I should be focusing on what's most important." (serious, melancholy, self-affirming)
