Shadows of Etherium - Introduction Monologue
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hello and thank you for taking the time to look over this project! Shadows of Etherium is a passion project of mine that started off as a joke trying to spite a friend and now has spiraled into an entire genre with a cast of characters, multiple storylines, art, music and so much more. Where is it all going? I'm not sure yet, but at the very least I'm going to expand to a few more parties of adventurers and a Conan Exiled modded server.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Shadows of Etherium is currently a roleplay setting with a custom dice system that is expanding into more driven by the enthusiasm of the people behind it. You'll be taking on the role of one of our core characters for this intro video, the opening monologue to the story that touches on several key points to help immerse players in the setting.
As we're starting to expand and let other people interact with the setting this video will serve as part of their first experience, a way of telling an intruiging tale while at the same time imparting on them some of the key story beats that they will be able to follow up on.
The setting is a victorian-ish Steampunk Fantasy with a bit more fantasy elements and less cogs and gears everywhere, and one of the defining characteristics being the primacy of flying ships mostly made of wood though iron skyships have become more a thing in recent years threatening the balance of power.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
I'm going to keep this running for two weeks to see who might be interested. Feel free to send me a message with anything you'd like to ask or anything I can offer in terms of information to help you make an audition using some of the lines I've prepared that are exerpts from the monologue.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is my first time hiring a VA though I have a friend who is unfortunately too male to provide the voice that has done this before offering some advice. We think it will take about two hours to give you time to study the material in full, and for us to do any re-dos if needed. If the time ends up going over two hours then you'll be reimbursed at $25/hr.
If this all goes well and the project continues to grow and expand we will want you to reprise the role so hopefully this can become a long term gig which will be paid for all work at the same rate.

Your best effort, and willingness to run a few takes if needed to get this just right. Happy to work with anyone who wants to give this a try and hopefully you'll be willing to reprise the role in the future if this works out.

Princess Seraphina is one of the central characters in this upcoming Steampunk Fantasy adventure tale. In this out of universe scene serving as an introduction to new players she is speaking to them directly introducing the world of Veridonia and speaking with a heavy heart about some of the core conflicts of the story.
While normally energetic and upbeat, a defeated but stoic Seraphina is telling the heartbreaking tale of her fathers recent death and how it has plunged the world into the brink of war. Coming off an extremely cheerful and upbeat introduction of a bright and exciting fantasy world her narration rips the player from joyful curiosity to a far darker reality.
Seraphina's introduction sets the stakes, with competing factions vying to control the fate of the young empire her father forged while an ancient enemy stirs, looking for a chance to recover what was once theirs and underneath it all a conspiracy to reshape the face of the world.
Her narration will also serve as a call to action for those who might choose to join her side, or at least a springboard for those that would choose evil, self interest, or simply competing claims to investigate further in future videos where their interests may lie.
The full script should take approximately 90 seconds to read and will be set to soft, solemn original music.

It is the year 593 after the fall of the Veridonian Empire, and my father is dead.
For fifty years Thalor the Unifier ruled our people in peace following the struggle to break away from the Valorian Empire.
Now my brother sits the throne, shackled by men who would profit from a war with our old enemies and the world stands on a precipice.
