Sailor Moon / Usagi Tsukino

This take place after Season 3 of Sailor Moon, which is one of the more emotional endings to a season. 

Usagi's character has just been through an extremely difficult moment, regarding the events with Mistress 9 and Pharoh 90, so that should be considered.

For those unfamiliar with the character of Sailor Moon / Usagi Tsukino, it is recommended you read a little about her on one of the various fan wikis, and check out performances by Voice Actors Tracy Moore, Terri Hawkes, and Linda Ballantyne. 

These are the three vocal reference points we would like to pull from, but anyone who can sell the role as their own will be considered. 

Luna is the celestial feline guardian of the galaxy. She also serves as Usagi's mentor.

In this project specifically, Luna also takes on the role of Narrator.

For Sailor Moon Another Story The Series, Luna will be leading the listener through the events of the story as they unfold, as if the listener themselves is participating as a Sailor Scout. She will additionally address the audience in other ways, being used as a tool to help explain certain situations better for context, or to fill dead air time during visual only moments for the Audio Only version of the show.

Luna's character is stern, but loving. A bit motherly, sometimes cheeky, and every now and then she can be condescending. The through line with her, is that it all comes from a place of protection and love. That should shine through the most.

For this project, we would like Luna to have an accent of some kind. This could be similar to the "British Luna" from the original dub of the show, or it could be something else. It just needs to fit.

Artemis is Minako's guardian, and companion to Luna. He serves as a secondary mentor to the girls as well from time to time.

His voice can be anything you like, we are not tied down to any specific style. He could be voiced by either a male or female, however the portrayal should be male in character.

Tuxedo Mask / Mamoru Chiba

While he is not a playable character UNFORTUNATELY IN MY OPINION he has quite a large role in this part of the story. He will be consulting the four Generals, who in the Anime were under Queen Beryl's control during Season One.

The vocal references we prefer would be Vince Corazza, who voiced him during the CWi dubbing of the show. 

That's the 3rd and 4th seasons of the original 90s dub

We ask that those auditioning avoid forcing their register too low in an artificial way, it never reads properly. The thing that made his voice unique was more the way he pronounced certain words.

Sailor Mercury / Ami Mizuno

The Sailor Mercury we're looking for, is someone who can get as close to Karen Bernstein 's performance as possible.

She voiced the character in the first season of the original 90's dub. 

Specific qualities we are looking for 

- the specific accent she put on for the character

- the specific throat effect she applies when using several of her abilities [ Example Here ]

- the ability to sound both timid and sweet, but determined and powerful in a believable way

Sailor Mars / Rei Hino

Looking for as close to Katie Griffin as possible. She voiced Rei during all but 17 episodes of the 90s English Dub.

The specific way she could push into moments where her and Usagi argue without the yelling getting too over the top, plus the specific cadence in which she delivers her Attack and Transformation phrases are what we're looking for.

Sailor Jupiter / Makoto Kino

Without a doubt, Susan Roman got it right. She will always be the quintessential Sailor Jupiter for us. 

We ask that all those auditioning for this role deliver each of the lines in two styles. 

First - Stylized As Susan 

Second - Make It Your Own

While we would absolutely love to find someone who can sound just like her, we realize that may not be possible. In that instance, we would take anyone who we really felt nailed the role in their own way.

Sailor Venus / Minako Aino

Mina serves as the comic relief much of the time, but will every now and again have a moment of trying as hard as she can to do something good, or kind. Her partner is Artemis, and a portion of the game features the two of them. 

For her vocal references, we are not tied down to any specific version of Sailor Venus at this time. Those auditioning are encouraged to avoid forcing their voice higher, and rather to try and think about her personality traits and bring them through in the way you deliver the lines. 

Sailor Uranus / Haruka Tenoh

Sailor Uranus' voice should be feminine, but powerful. It can be in a deeper register, but that is not a requirement. It is more about commanding a strength, and putting whomever she's talking to at ease when in a tense situation.

She typically maintains her cool, but every now and then will give impassioned speeches if under the right pressures.

You may use Sarah Lafleur as a vocal reference.

For the Link-Technique Dead World Submerge, we are playing around with a few ideas on how we want them to go. We ask that people deliver it in two ways.

First - say all three words for the attack.

Second - say only the [World] portion, understanding that it will be landing between Pluto saying Dead, and Neptune saying Submerge.

Sailor Neptune / Michuru Kaioh

We're quite partial to Barbara Radecki  when it comes to Sailor Neptune, but as for any of these roles, if you deliver a convincing performance of your own style we will certainly consider it.

Neptune's persona is calm, cool, and collected. She's fearless, despite being pretty, which some assume implies she is fragile. But we all know she's anything but that.

She will likely be participating in Link Techniques often. Deliver Dead World Submerge in two ways.

First - Say all three words of the attack.

Second - Only say [Submerge] , understanding it lands after Pluto and Uranus say their portion.

Sailor Saturn | Hotaru Tomoe

This role, you are free to make anything you like. We have no strong feelings about what she should sound like. We will simply cast whoever we feel embodies her the best.

Saturn's character is complicated, in that her past is probably the most recently traumatic and dark. However, she is incredibly determined to join the fight, and while she begins this arc sick and unable to get out of bed, she ends up becoming one of the stronger assets to the team.

Her character only has one ability in the game - Death Reborn Revolution. Following the lore, this isn't something that's just thrown around at random monsters typically. We will be taking some creative liberties to give her more ways to participate.

Sailor Pluto / Setsuna Meiou

Sailor Pluto is the oldest of the scouts, but she's still young by the world's standards. She should sound mature, together, and strong-willed. She doesn't get overly emotional, and her attacks are sometimes delivered in a ghostly monotone.

You don't have to deliver her lines in that specific way, but consider them your guidelines.

Deliver the line Time Stop! in a few different ways / inflections

Sailor Chibi Moon | Chibi Usa

Chibi Usa's voice can be more nuanced than just 'young' and 'high-pitched', in our opinion. 

The reason Sugar Lyn Beard was able to deliver the role so effortlessly, is because that's actually her real voice. You can see her acting on screen in shows like Weeds, to get an idea of what I mean about that. 

We're looking for a voice that just fits her character. She's spirited, high energy, passionate about things like love and togetherness, and a very key role in this arc.

Her attacks will often times be link techniques, or comic-relief uses of Pink Sugar Heart Attack.

Shaman Apsu

Shaman Apsu's Sailor Moon Wiki is linked above.

Aspu has never been voiced before. This character can be made completely your own. We're accepting auditions of all styles, whatever feels the most true to her will be selected. Have fun with this role.

She should be equal part creepy, moody, and almost comically cryptic with how she speaks. Feel free to try each line a few different ways.

Her obsession is with changing destiny to alter the future into one of her preference - clearly destruction.

Sin | Leader of the Opposito Senshi

The "Oppositio Guardians" are the antagonists from the video game Sailor Moon: Another Story. Each one serves as a counterpart to one of the Inner Sailor Guardians, whom they also bear a physical resemblance to.

Sin's Story - Spoilers

Although Sin was evil-minded and cunning, she deeply cared for her little brother Anshar; even though his desires went against hers, she never thought twice about helping him. She wanted to capture the Silver Crystal so that she and Anshar could have a peaceful destiny.

After their parents were killed by the Black Moon Clan, Sin was stricken with grief and grew angry not only at the Black Moon, but also at the Sailor Senshi, for not coming to their aid. Apsu took advantage of this feeling and talked Sin into joining her cause, saying that the Silver Crystal was a bigger concern for the Senshi than innocent human lives.

Sin was the driving force behind the Oppositio Senshi's plans, using even Anshar's affection for Chibiusa to further her ends, and attempted to change destiny by going to the Silver Millennium in the past to prevent the Senshi from existing in the future. When Prince Demande released Sailor Moon, whom he had kidnapped, Sin tried to kill him, angered by his weakness. Saphir, however, stepped in and took the blow for his brother. Sin engaged the Senshi, led by Sailor Chibi Moon, in battle, but was defeated and retreated, but not before killing Demande.

Later, in a desperate move, Sin decided to change the destiny of Usagi's younger brother, Shingo. She used Anshar's pet, Kishar, as a lure to bring him to the Dark Castle, the Oppositio Senshi's headquarters in Crystal Tokyo. The Senshi managed to avert this threat by splitting into two teams, and saved both the future Silver Millennium and Shingo's life. Even though Sailor Moon used the power of the Silver Crystal to set the other Oppositio Senshi free from Apsu's control, Sin's will to change her destiny to a peaceful life with Anshar and her parents was too strong.

Sin allowed herself to be absorbed by Apsu after the Opposito Senshi, and later Apsu herself, failed to defeat the Sailor Senshi. She believed that they would start a new fate. Together, they become the Deity of Destruction. After the Deity was defeated, Apsu was killed, but Sin was saved by Sailor Moon, much to her friends' and her brother's relief. Seeing this as a second chance, Sin took this opportunity to turn over a new leaf with Anshar and the former Oppositio Senshi.

Sin's Voice

This character has never been voiced before. We would like her to have the following vocal qualities if possible:

- Middle to lower pitched feminine quality.

- Possible rasp / tonal imperfections to the voice.

- The ability to deliver believable lines filled with anger and hatred, as well as sensitive and caring dialogue between herself and her brother.

These are our preferences, but we are accepting auditions of all styles. The best fit for the part will be chosen.

Nabu - Opposito Senshi of Mercury

Nabu is cold, yet tough and unable to accept defeat, as shown by the fact that she was the only Oppositio Senshi that had to be fought twice in Chapter 2. Her motivation was to take advantage of the power of the Silver Crystal, in one way or another. Apsu asked her to fight for her cause so that they could unravel the secrets of the source of the Silver Crystal's power, as in their point of view it could not last forever. 

Nabu's Voice

Nabu's character, is meant to be similar to Ami in the sense that she's intelligent, strategic, and uses those traits to her advantage. The difference is her cold and unfeeling demeanor, which we believe would lean towards a more dead-pan style delivery. However, she also seems driven intently by curiosity. She wants to understand the world she's in fully and completely, not just based on what people tell her.

Those auditioning for Sailor Mercury are also encouraged to audition for this role.

Nergal - Opposito Senshi of Mars

She is the Oppositio counterpart of Sailor Mars. She is named after the Babylonian God of Fire. Nergal is a power-hungry woman who values might above all else and serves Shaman Apsu only to become more powerful.

Nergal, being a warrior at heart, craved absolute power, enough to rival the Sailor Senshi. Apsu promised her power enough to even surpass them, gaining her trust, and had her join the other Oppositio Senshi. However, she did have an honor code, and handed over Jadeite's Yang Stone after Sailor Mars defeated her fair and square, as she promised.

The Senshi eventually realized that the Oppositio Senshi were using the Space-Time Door to travel to the past and alter everyone's destinies. When they went to the Door to investigate, they were confronted by Nergal who, disguised as Sailor Pluto, demanded the Silver Crystals from both Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon. Nergal's true identity was revealed when she accidentally called Sailor Chibi Moon "Princess" instead of "Small Lady," and she was forced to retreat.

Nergal, along with the rest of the Oppositio Senshi, was last encountered at the Dark Castle, where Sin was holding Shingo Tsukino captive. After being defeated one last time, she was healed by the light of Sailor Moon's Silver Crystal and broke free from Apsu's control.

Nergal's Voice

The best voal reference we could think of for this, would be Azula from Avatar The Last Air Bender. That is exactly what we're going for with Nergal.

Everything is at 1000%, and her confidence is un-matched. She should be terrifying, but also be able to come off as comedic in certain moments.

Marduk - Opposito Senshi of Jupiter

She was as physically tough as Sailor Jupiter herself, and headstrong as well. She thought that, instead of being the basis of peace in Crystal Tokyo, the Silver Crystal actually was the cause of countless wars which had been seemingly forgotten by mankind. She joined Apsu in order to find the Silver Crystal and prevent possible future battles from happening.

We don't have a clear direction for Marduk's voice just yet. Those auditioning for Sailor Jupiter are encouraged to make an attempt at Marduk as well.

Whatever you would do for Jupiter, she should come off more aloof than that, and somewhat deeper in tone. Anything else is up to you.

Ishtar - Opposito Senshi of Venus

She is the Oppositio counterpart of Sailor Venus. Named after the Babylonian fertility goddess, Ishtar is not particularly smart, nor powerful, and was recruited only because she followed Nabu, but considers herself Shaman Apsu's favorite and fights solely to win her approval.

Ishtar's Voice

Ishtar has a very child-like demeanor, and her voice should reflect that. She's goofy, affable, and easily meant to be one of the most likable of the Opposito Senshi. Her motivations seem mostly to be around people she looks up to, being Lady Apsu and the other Opposito Senshi. Her voice should have some form of uniqueness to it, as she should stand out from the others very easily just by voice.

Anshar - Younger Brother to Sin

He is the leader of the Oppositio Senshi and Sin's younger brother, who she strives to protect no matter what. Named for the Babylonian sky god, Anshar and Sin play a significant part in the overall plot, particularly when Anshar befriends Chibiusa.

Anshar was generally confused as to what was really going on. He was good-hearted, but would often do the wrong thing out of a desire to make his sister happy, which conflicted with his friendship (and crush) with Chibiusa. He was always seen with his pet cat Kishar.

Anshar's Voice

We believe the best fit would be something close to what Julie Lemieux did with her younger male characters on the show.Specifically the character Peruru, from the Sailor Moon Super S Movie.

Linda Ballantyne gave a helpful Voice Acting note in an interview regarding females playing young male roles:

"Girls care a lot, boys just don't care."  Then she gives an example of how a girl will put A LOT of emotion and feeling into a line, and the boy will remove most of that emotion, plus the inflection goes down a bit at the end.

The ability to have custom artwork for this project would truly help heighten the level of the final product.

Unfortunately, this area is one we're personally limited in. Additionally, there is so much other work to put into this project that we simply cannot handle ALL of the behind-the-scenes roles ourselves.

We will be selecting multiple people to participate in this role.

Possible Assignments

- Creating digital artwork inspired by the events of the show.

- Creating any specific images needed by video editors.

- Creating sprite-based artwork inspired by the original art style of Sailor Moon Another Story

- Team up with a web-designer and provide graphics for the official project website.

- Giving visual design direction / input for the project over-all.

We may give this role to several people.

This may be a long-shot, but if any animators are interested in working on this project, we would love to have you.

We expect to use animations sparingly, but in some instances they would really help add to the theatrics for the Web Series version of this show. We anticipate certain very heightened moments that might look better with some help, and/or some additional battle animations that could add some flare for the Villains. 

This role will be given to multiple people.

The Misc. Monsters role is perfect for people who are ready to try all sorts of wacky voices. Being ready to do the same line at least 3-5 different ways is a must, so we can figure out the perfect vibe for each creature.

The game itself features nearly every monster ever used in the first three seasons of Sailor Moon, plus additional creations just for the game itself. This gives us a lot to play with.

This role will be given to multiple people.

The Misc. Villains role is more nuanced than the Misc. Monsters role. While the parts are small for each villain role included for this part, they still need to be done properly and with enough character and uniqueness that they do not all blend together.

Several of these characters will have one line, or even a partial line, but they will still need a voice.

We will be casting all types of voices for this role, as we need all bases covered.

This role has been created to specify which parts C. Fenley will be playing regarding the Misc Monsters & Villains categories.

Hans is met when Sailor Mercury goes off on her own to recover one of the Hi Stones.

His story is that he has a sick mother who needs help, and Sailor Mercury must help gather both the doctor and the herbs required to heal her.

She feels something for him, but it is not quite made clear whether or not there is romance on her end.

We imagine Hans Voice to be soft spoken but not scared or shy. He will get louder and impassioned in certain moments regarding his mother's sickness, so that should highlight how soft-spoken he typically is.

Faregg is met when Sailor Mars goes off on her own chapter.

His character is [SPOILER ALERT] actually a ghost. This is not revealed to the player / Sailor Mars until part-way through her chapter.

His character is a bit gruff, direct, but caring. The people of the village where Mars ended up were revived temporarily to aid her in her journey for the Hi Stone, and that includes Faregg.

Sailor Mars develops a bond with him during their very short time together, and is quite sad when she learns his truth.

You can interpret this voice in a few different ways in your audition. We are not tied down to any particular version of him just yet.

This character is mixed up in his own love affair before Sailor Jupiter even arrives there. Lucky for him probably.

We learn that his romance is the source of a feud between two neighboring towns, and it's up to Jupiter to mend basically everyone's relationship to everyone in this chapter.

He comes off as a guy who means well, but is overly romantic.

We imagine his character is someone that would be very serious most of the time, but might speak in a dreamy way when it comes to romance / the one he's in love with. Almost mushy. He could potentially be a source of comedy if we find the right interpretation.

This guy has an unfortunately small role, as his dialogue is sort of fun.

He comes off as someone who is very self-important, and sometimes speaks in the third person.

If we must use today's slang, he's very much a himbo.

He shouldn't SOUND stupid in tonal delivery, though. It's more about taking very stupid things, very seriously.

She will be voicing various NPCs and Misc. Monsters for us on this project. We are so happy to have her as part of our team!
