Project Overview
Hi, I'm Pika Cheeks and I'm looking to return to Abridged and start a new series! Rurouni Kenshin (2023) Abridged! My YouTube channel has +30,000 Subscribers. I'm casting for episode 2 and onwards!
About The Anime
Rurouni Kenshin is set in Meiji Era Japan where swords and samurai have been abolished. Himura Kenshin was once known as Battousai The Manslayer, an assassin who fought for the Imperialists against the Shogunate. Once the Imperialists won, Kenshin put down his sword and vowed to never kill, he now travels as a wanderer with a reverse edged sword that cannot kill.

Episode 1 is complete! However I'm currently facing copyright issues so it's not on YouTube at the moment, it unfortunately got blocked. However it's on Rumble! I'm working to getting it back onto YouTube but it'll take some time.

I'm casting for episode 2 and onwards, so a few roles that appear here will appear later in the series, I will do whatever I can to see this series through to the end!
I may have to extend the deadline if needed, please understand this is passion project and I'd love to select the most brilliant of people!
There are certain rules I must make so by auditioning you'll agree with these terms:
REQUIREMENTS:
You must add me on Discord for easier communication if you have been casted. Communication is important.
Lines are expected to have a 2 Week turnover, if you are unable to do so, please tell me and set a date on when you could! I'll understand!
You must be committed and interested in the project! Without that then you'll ultimately be wasting not only your time and effort but also mine!
No headphone mics! Blue Yetis and AT2020 or similar quality is minimum!
You must be down for Direction if requested, especially if you're a recurring character! If you do a good job and I can see you understand the character well then Direction won't be needed!
Be okay with Redos! I have a vision and I aim to make sure everyone does a great job! I might need to ask for Redos, some things can't be noticed until done! I'll be patient and understanding. Please understand this is important to the project.
You must be okay with Swearing!
If you have a problem, be sure to tell me. Communication is important!
I'd like to make sure there's some nice quality in the production and presentation. I'd like to keep it a semi-professional type of approach but I don't want to be too strict or formal! Let's have a good time!

Character - Yahiko is a main supporting character. He is the son of a samurai however both of his parents have died. He ends up becoming a student of Kaoru’s.
Personality - He is hot headed and is eager to do the right thing. He is still young and naive however and has much to learn.
Voice - High-Mid Range Voice. A young boy voice, preferably voiced by a Female Voice Actress. A certain Raspiness and Bass to his voice would be great. Most likely a few shouting lines from him, so expect that. Ash Ketchum is also a good reference.

ROLE - Main Supporting Character / Minor Antagonist
Character - Sanosuke is a main supporting character. He is an ex-imperialist soldier who hates the current Meiji government with a grudge. He works as a Fight Merchant or Fighter For Hire and often likes getting into street brawls with people.
Personality - Hot headed as much as he is thick headed. He’s a happy go lucky guy and is the type to punch first, ask questions later. He’s the kind of friend where people ask “Why do you keep him around?” but then when hard times come, he’s the most reliable person there is. Think Joey Wheeler or Arataki Ittou or majority of the cast from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Voice - Mid-Deep Range Voice. A young adult or adult male voice. Be sure to give the sense of a chill and cool person, however can get fired up, eager for a good fight. I’m open to anyone’s interpretation for the voice! However a good base I’d say is something along the lines of Joey Wheeler from Yu-Gi-Oh! Or Arataki Ittou from Genshin Impact.
Or if possible you able to channel Lyle Rath's chaotic energy and delievery, he basically embodies Sanosuke's fierce and rowdy demeanour. If you can nail talking like Lyle Rath you have a HIGH CHANCE, because that's the energy I'm after!

ROLE - Minor Antagonist
Character - Captain of the sword bearing police, Lieutenant Ujiki abuses his authority and power to bully and belittle the common folk. He only appears in episode 2.
Personality - Smug, condescending and extremely vain, being so full of himself it's comical. He likes to flaunt that he has a license to carry a sword and looks down on anyone who doesn't. He is twisted and has moments where he is quite sadistic. He is in love with his own Sword, which he calls Elizabeth.
Voice - Mid-Deep Range Voice. A young adult to adult voice. His voice and mannerism should be smug, peppy and pretentious, with an air of sadism to it. A good base for the voice I have in mind is Zapp Brannigan from Futurama and Knockout from Transformer's Prime. A GOOD ZAPP BRANNIGAN IMPRESSION IS HIGHLY WANTED!

Personality - Angry, Aggressive and Rude. Your typical Yakuza / Gangster enforcer who always resorts to violence if they don't get their way.
Voice - Mid-Deep Range Voice. An adult voice that has some real spunk and fierceness to it. A Boston, Brooklyn or Chicago Accent could work! Even an African-American Accent could work! This voice I'm open to any interpretation, just has to be acted well with some real aggression and energy! Should come across as highly intimidating!

Personality - Passive aggressive and condescending when talking to Yahiko. He's a no good thug that finds enjoyment in bullying Yahiko.
Voice - Mid Range Voice. He's a Yakuza Thug! So sound like your typical Yakuza, Gangster or Italian Mobster. Should sound both intimidating but also cowardly if that makes sense. I'm open to any interpretation really! Play with some accents if you'd like to! He just has to sound like a notable recurring Henchman if that makes sense.

ROLE - Supporting Character / Antagonist
Character - Aoishi Shinomori is the leader of the Oniwabanshū, a group of elite ninja from the Edo Period. He is a rival to Kenshin.
Personality - Serious, Strict and Competitive. Highly confident in his own skill and abilities, Aoishi seeks to prove that he is the strongest fighter which leads to him being a mercenary for Kanryu. He's hard on others because he's harder on himself. He has an almost comical obessession with Power and is addicted to Megumi's Opium Laced Mochi Cakes.
Voice - Mid-Deep Range Voice. A young adult or adult male voice. The voice should give the impression of someone who's serious, cool and calculating and confident in their skill. There should also be a light gravel to his voice too.
Some characters Aoishi reminds me of is Vergil (Devil May Cry), Seto Kaiba (Yugioh), Cao Pi (Dynasty Warrirors). What all these characters have in common is their strong drive and motivation for more power, they seek to assert their dominance both in mind, strength and skill. There's a certain air of confidence in how they all talk.

Voice - Mid-Deep Range Voice. A young adult to adult voice. Cool, confident and has a strong resolve. I would like a slight gravel to it. Honestly a voice like Magna Defender from Power Rangers Lost Galaxy however try to make him sound younger would be perfect.
