Project Overview

Hello Everyone!

I am a representative of Krow And Wolf studios, and am excited to open auditions for Rook & Crow, our new original podcast that we'll be starting soon!

Rook & Crow is a fantasy, mystery/thriller set in a strange fantasy world, known as the Fey Realm. In this realm, Edmund Groves, a student at a prestigious magic academy, has uncovered some dark secrets about his school, and intends to reveal the truth to anyone who will listen. Using the trusty recording device he has dubbed "RIDDLE", he documents his findings and delivers them to a strange individual called, "The Listener". He unwittingly finds himself partnering up with Quin, a fellow magical forensics student that he despises. With her help, he hopes to uncover the truths that he fears will affect not only the Fey Realm, but the Human Realm too.

The two must deal with magic cults, cryptid horrors, eldritch monsters, and even mischievous Fey, if they hope to solve this case of mystical proportions. Murders, dark rituals, and strange disappearances are only some of many leads they'll follow to achieve this daunting task. But it won't be easy - they will find themselves in mortal peril more often than not.

However, Edmund and Quin are determined, clever, and unusually cunning, giving their foes just as much trouble as they're receiving. The question is, can they figure out what's happening, before it's too late?

But don't be deceived by the fantastical setting - after all, this is not your average fairy tail. This podcast thriller is a delicious blend of mystery, horror and fantasy that will have listeners sitting on the edge of their seats and have shivers sent up their spines.

Here's some more information and requirements for you lovely voice actors:

  • Must be comfortable with some mild language

  • Must be comfortable describing scenes that may be unsettling, disturbing, or graphic

  • Must have a quality microphone and access to discord

  • Must be able to make a more long-term commitment should the project be successful

  • It is recommended that you submit 2-3 takes of each line in AABBCC or ABCABC format (although if you want to give us a headache and think that "this 4th take is too good to leave out", then you're welcome to throw it in. But if you want to do CABBCA or some other randomness, we simply want to know: who hurt you?)

Now, a few final things that are important to mention:

  • This project is Deferred meaning that it is currently Unpaid. If the podcast is successful and actually makes money, we will discuss payment options

  • Krow And Wolf is a production studio that hopes to make more projects in the future. If this goes well, we may offer you other roles within those projects.

  • Rook and Crow will have more roles added as the series continues, so don't be discouraged if you don't get the lead roles; You may have other opportunities later down the line

  • This podcast has only a few episodes written, but we have several more episodes planned for this first season. If the first episode sounds good, we will proceed with production.

  • Will be posted on YouTube, Spotify, and other streaming sites.

  • We've assigned our roles!

    Hello everyone! We've assigned the roles of Edmund, Quin, and Harper Jay Rook! To those of you who weren't chosen, don't worry! We will be posting more roles in the future. We will be contacting some of you soon about auditioning for roles that have not been listed. So even though you weren't assigned a leading role, that does not mean that we didn't like your auditions. We had a lot of wonderful talent to choose from, so we want to thank all of you for auditioning for the project. We plan to open the project again with new characters for people to audition for, but you'll have to be patient, as that will take some time to organize, especially as new characters are written.

    Again, we thank all of you for your amazing auditions! You made it very difficult to make a decision and that's a good thing! Stay tuned, as we will update this project in the coming months!

  • Updated lines for Quin!

    Hello Everyone! We have an announcement!

    You see, as we went over the submissions this last little while, we started having a troubling dilemma - particularly with the role of Quin. Listening to the submissions, we began to feel like the lines we had given for Quin were nowhere near as varied as Edmund’s lines - or as long. Since Quin’s lines were so limited, we didn’t feel like we could come to any clear decision on who would be best suited for the role unless we updated her lines. So her new lines have been updated as follows:

    [sarcastically] Thanks for the lesson professor. I’ll be sure to ask for the notes after class.

    [excited] Yes! I knew it! Maybe you could fool a brainless baboon like Edmund, but I’m in my bloody element! [smug] And you said it wasn’t gonna work.

    [shaky breath] What kind of… [incredulous and mildly unhinged laugh] what kind of choice is that? Die by the vile, squealing monster, or die by creepy Mr. Smiles? There wasn’t a right choice. And I don’t make wrong choices.

  • We've added another role!

    Hello everyone! We appreciate all the people who have auditioned so far and we've loved hearing all of your lovely voices. We will be reaching out to some of you very soon, but if you don't get the role you auditioned for, don't worry! We have plenty more roles coming soon, and you might still make it onto our roster - some of you may even be reached out to for roles that haven't even been posted yet.

    Speaking of more roles, we have added a role for another very important character in our podcast: Harper Jay Rook, the energetic changeling explorer of the bleak and terrifying realm of cryptids. They won't be in Episode 1, but they will be a frequently recurring character who plays a very important role lore wise.

Edmund is an eccentric half-elf who has a love for magic and the supernatural. He is incredibly intelligent and has a thirst for knowledge - a thirst that may never be quenched. That thirst has a habit of getting him into trouble more often than not. Though he's an eager intellectual, his excitement is rarely shown in his voice, as he tends to speak rather dryly and is generally pretty serious about most things - yet it's almost a paradox how he has a habit of making light of especially serious situations. Most of the time he speaks in a fairly serious tone, but he sometimes let's his excitement slip through when speaking about something of particular interest. But when he does express himself, it's usually when he thinks something is really cool, or when he's genuinely surprised. Edmund is basically a masking autistic (passes as neurotypical).


Edmund should sound like a young adult with a General British accent, though any other UK accent is acceptable. He wants the listeners to feel like every word he says is important and his tone should reflect that.

Voices to use for reference would be Johnathan Simms from "The Magnus Archives", Wheatley from "Portal 2", and Tim Stoker from "The Magnus Archives".


Think Mr. Fox from from "Fantastic Mr. Fox" but British (inflection and enunciation). Although, if you want to do an American accent, this would be the best reference for that.

Quin is a student at the academy with Edmund. She is very intelligent and usually pretty friendly - not so much with Edmund. Enjoys her studies, but can be easily sidetracked by things she finds more interesting. Though she seems innocent, she will also start a housefire if given a good enough excuse. Playful, but serious - often perceived as childish, but that's just another thing she uses to her advantage. She doesn't hide her emotions unless it's strictly necessary and isn't afraid to speak her mind. She is basically a non-masking autistic (but passes as neurotypical).


She should have a young adult voice with a British accent.


Good references are Alice Kingsleigh from the live action "Alice in Wonderland", Enola Holmes from "Enola Holmes", and Tracer from Overwatch (this is the best reference to follow).


This is a Leading Role.

Harper Jay Rook is an intrepid explorer documenting their exploits in the horrifying world we are currently calling "The Darklands" or "The Cryptid Realm". Those are placeholder names for now though. Harper Jay is a changeling with an academic personality, but has the energy and enthusiasm of a classic explorer. They're a young scholar who would later be one of the most prominent names in cryptozoology. They are a recurring role, and not directly related to Edmund and Quincy's adventures. Their perspective will be more like an audio journal and they will often be used to give background information on cryptids that Edmund and Quin will be interacting with. They are also very important for the overall lore.


As previously mentioned, Harper Jay is a Changeling. They don't have a specific gender due to their natural ability to mimic the form of other creatures, regardless of gender. Therefore, Harper Jay should sound androgynous, but they trend towards a more masc-leaning voice (He/They pronouns). They are softspoken, intelligent, and fearless. They also sound youthful, but should be unmistakably mature and confident. They won't be heard in episode 1, but they will be a leading role in episode 2.
