Pushed up Deadline
Hey! I will be pushing the deadline up to the 17th in two days!
Hello! Thank you for checking out this casting call. To put it simply, this is a mod that will implement voice acting for all base game survivors in Risk of Rain 2. These voice lines are activated based off certain events that occur in the game, like leveling up, defeating a boss, or dying. The mod is currently being programmed and the programmer has given me the go ahead to start casting.
Each character is meant to have a distinct and recognizable voice that sets them apart from the other survivors, just like how the survivors play. They all have different personalities that are based off interpretations of their play style, appearance, and logs. Some are soft-spoken, some are energetic, some have particular accents, some don't actually speak coherent words. (Pray for my soul as I am voicing the robots)
All characters have 40 voice lines in total (60 for the Void Fiend), but you only need to audition with 3 lines for this casting call. The guidelines for the auditors and the requirements for the project are as such.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PROJECT:
1. Be prepared to commit! This means be responsive and be punctual with line delivery. There is a possibility I may ask for more lines in the future and I ask you to be available in the future.
2. Please have a clean and proper recording set up to deliver clean and proper recordings. XLR Microphones are heavily preferred but if you can deliver a clean recording with a USB mic, go for it.
3. Discord is a preference as the lines will be distributed through it and communication will be done through there. If you do not have a discord or are not comfortable with this, this requirement can be worked around.
GUIDELINES FOR AUDITIONS:
1. You may audition for as many characters as you want.
2. If a character has a specified reference voice, please try to replicate said voice. Additionally, if a character has a specified accent, you must do the accent for the audition.
3. Please put your Discord tag in your audition description if you are willing to share it.
4. You are not required to slate.
5. Please no troll auditions.
Thank you for your consideration!!
Hey! I will be pushing the deadline up to the 17th in two days!
Hey everyone! As you can see, all the roles have been casted...except for Commando. My original choice was unable to get back to me so I am reopening auditions until May 27th, 2 weeks from now. For those who weren't chosen, you're getting a 2nd chance! Best of luck!
PLEASE AUDITION FOR THE ROLE THAT SAYS "RE-OPENED"
Over 2 and a half THOUSAND submissions. I feel like this should have been expected but I don't even know for sure.
Regardless, as you could probably guess, casting is going to take a long while. I will be sifting through the auditions while I can and when I have come to a final decision, I will be getting into contact with those who I feel are right for the role. Best of luck to everyone! And thank you for your auditions!
I wanna thank you all for showing interest in the project! I'm excited to sift through all the incredible auditions.
The Commando is a soldier, in every sense of the word. He follows orders, doesn't ask questions, and follows every rule he can.
A very run of the mill soldier archetype, but not over the top or exaggerated. But just a twinge of regret sometimes. Voice runs on the mid to mid high range
“Good soldiers follow orders.”
“Operation Contact Light Rescue is a go.”
" ..and so he left, with new orders and new questions."
The Huntress might be labeled as a feared assassin, but she only sees herself as a woman at work. While she finds some fun out of it occasionally, it's means to an end.
Lower voice register. Deadpan as hell.
“Fear my bow. Or whatever.”
“Let’s just get this over with already.”
"..and so she left, yearning for her next great hunt."
The Bandit is an outlaw designed off the gunslingers of the Old West, finding a way onto the UES Safe Travels through tricky tactics. He's cunning, quick, and fights dirty.
I picture him with a Texan accent, and his voice lines hold many references to Val Kilmer's Doc Holiday from Tombstone.
"Told you I’d bring my coat."
“Dagger in my hand, pistol at the ready. Just my game.”
"..and so he left, grateful for his luck."
The Engineer is just that. An Engineer. He fixes, he invents, he innovates. But for some reason, he always old a domineering mindset when it comes to making his machines.
He's a quiet, intelligent person, not really much for the battle. He'd rather leave that to his machines.
“Just leave me to my machines.”
“I wonder if this’ll get me new technology to use…”
"...and so he left, with newfound inspirations."
The Artificer is an agent of the High Court, specifically the House Beyond, a technologically advanced religious sect dedicated to exploring space to find the promised land. She is an intelligent and devoted follower, happy to dedicate her body and mind to her cause.
I imagine her voice to be a little on the higher side, indicating her youth. But she definitely has an intelligent edge to it.
"An Artificer of House Beyond is continuously vigilant."
"Perhaps Petrichor V holds the key to the Promised Land."
" ..and so she left, in love with a new passion: to explore."
The Mercenary is a disciplined fighter, fighting for his life and gaining coin along the way. He lives a simple life, but does many things to maintain it.
The voice I imagine is very level-headed and poised, not letting emotion take over.
“My blade yearns for its next visitor.”
“Onward, to glory and success.”
"..and so he left, with dreams of good food and a peaceful night."
The Captain of the UES Safe Travels. He is gruff, to the point, and takes no shit from anyone.
The only definitives for this character is that the Captain is in his late 40s, and has a growl to his voice. One of this character's lines is "I'm getting too old for this"
“A captain always takes care of his mission.”
“When I get off this planet, remind me to send the Chairman a card.”
..and so he left, with a new tale to tell.
The Loader was brought onto the UES Safe Travel as manual labor, but she's been able to find their place as apart of the ship's infantry. And she loves every damn second of it.
I imagine her with a British or Australian accent for some reason.
“250 tons of force, at your service.”
“Time to load up.”
"..and so she left, heart still racing."

Same idea as the Loader, but male. This is apart of the Classic Skin, which depicts the male loader from Risk of Rain 1.
“250 tons of force, at your service.”
“Time to load up.”
"..and so she left, heart still racing."
The Railgunner is here for a good time, not a long time. She hits hard, and talks fast. Her thing is dry humor, and tries to have fun when she can.
Not much to her. She's just here for fun. Similar to the Commando, but she hides behind the humor.
“You know if I can see you, that’s not always a good thing.”
“Railgun? Charged. Scope? Adjusted.
"..and so she left, ready to take her shot."
The Void Fiend is a tortured soul, knowing nothing but its mission.
It has two sets of lines, Controlled and Corrupted. Be able to harness reluctant determination, but also unbridled rage.
Payment for this character is higher due to having 60 lines instead of 40.
“Hunger…thirst…hope…”
Controlled: “Shake the bars…”/Corrupted: ”Break the cage!!”
" ..and so it comes... for all of us."
The Commando is a soldier, in every sense of the word. He follows orders, doesn't ask questions, and follows every rule he can.

" ..and so he left, with new orders and new questions."
The Heretic was a powerful entity serving the two brothers, before she attempted an escape during the events of Risk of Rain 1. She is vengeful, aggressive, and very skilled.
Nika Futterman is my voice reference for this character honestly. Go with your gut, but use her as a base.
“I…am…reborn!!”
“Every minute I spend in this land hurts me…”
..and so they left, bitterly avenged and deeply lost.
