Professor Layton Anime Fandub
Project Overview
Professor Layton is a puzzle series spanning multiple entries and platforms, the last of which was "Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire's Conspiracy", a game that went in a wholly different direction from the previous entries. Those changes include a new protagonist, replacing the titular Professor with his daughter, Katrielle. In 2018, a year later, an Anime was announced and released that would adapt the cases from the game as well as add a plethora of new and original cases, including an overarching mystery that resolves the question of where the Professor, Katrielle's father, went and what happened to him.
As one can probably imagine given the existance of this casting call, the Anime never got a proper english dub. It was only officially dubbed in Korean and German, and of course the japanese original dub. This is a non-profit fandub project. This casting call includes characters from Episodes 1 and 2 that have not yet been cast. We operate over Discord, so having that would be the only necessity. You may apply to more than one role.

Sherl is a talking dog suffering from amnesia. Thus far, only Katrielle and her assistant Ernest are able to understand him. He is the third member of the leading trio, and he appears in close to every episode.
Voice: Sherl has a gruffy and deep voice.
Personality: His personality clashes with that of Katrielle in that he is incredibly down-to-earth and easily agitated when Katrielle proposes her oftentimes insane theories, and becomes even more agitated when those theories turn out to be true.

Hey, you there! Can you really solve any mystery?
I... I can't even remember my own name.
I can't believe it. That whole wafer thing. How that wasn't just a shaggy dog story.
Simon Light is a character appearing in Episode 1 of the anime. He is the client that asks Katrielle to investigate his family's disappearance.
Voice: Simon's voice is that of a relatively regular british middle-aged man. He can be nervous at times but is mostly serious.
Personality: He often acts very nervous, given his fear of where his family went, but when talking about his father or brother, he gets very serious. His wife and children are very important to him, and is often joyous when talking about them.
(Nervous) Yeah, uhm… my name is Simon Light. I would like to ask of Professor Layton’s assistance in a case. Say, is he currently here?
(Energetic) The one who has solved one global mystery after the other and suddenly became famous, that Professor Layton!
So that means that you will give the rest of your fortune to my brother. I never expected you hate me this much, father.
Samantha Light is a very minor character in Episode 1 and the wife of Simon Light. The lines you see above are some of her only lines (there are about two others) apart from a few grunts when moving her head and running around.
Voice: Relatively high-pitched.
Personality: -
Huh? What do you mean?
What? Well, if you ask like that, behind that corridor there's a big door, but it just wouldn't budge.
The father of Simon and Garfunkel Light is a posthumous character and was never given a name and only appears in flash-back scenes.
Voice: In one of the scenes he appears in, he is in his deathbed and coughing. His voice sounds very rough and ill, while in another he has a regular deep middle-aged voice.
Personality: The father cared for both of his children equally, but was simply misunderstood by Simon.
[Coughing] Simon, my son. When I will pass on to the next life, I will leave you a house. Please take good care of it.
No, please wait, Simon! [Coughing]
Hey, don't argue, you hotheads. Brothers always take each other by the hand, no matter what happens. That's what makes you family.
Garfunkel Light is a character appearing in Episode 1. He is the brother of Simon Light.
Voice: He has a deeper voice than his brother.
Personality: Garfunkel is appreciative of his father and tries to bring Simon closer to the mystery of his father's fortune by giving him hints, or selling him the house. He is calm, relaxed and laid-back.
Oh? Is there a problem?
Father was always a just man. You thinking that he treated me better was just a result of your... narrow view.
Simon and Garfunkel appear as children in one of the flashback scenes.
Voices: Two children with about the same voice, hence why we're casting one person for two roles.
(Cheerful) I wanna play with you, Daddy!
You're being unfair, Simon! I wanna play with him too!
Brenda and Linda Light are very minor characters appearing in Episode 1 of the Anime.
Did it click?
Mr. Pastel is a major character in Episode 2. He is the client wishing to have Katrielle investigate into his wife, and how she is supposedly possessed by the devil.
Voice: Soft middle-aged voice. Can be calm, in fear, and at the end of the episode he breaks down and starts crying.
Personality: He is oftentimes in a state of fear, given his wife's possession.
(Desperate) Please... help my wife Olivia! She means everything to me!
Ah, you probably already met my wife Olivia.
(Crying) I'll... never... see her... again...
Olivia is a supporting character in Episode 2, and the wife of Mr. Pastel.
Voice: Regular middle-aged woman. However, when possessed, she talks in a deeper voice.
Personality: Olivia is a loving wife who was forced to move away from her mother due to the mutated cotton. She loves her husband and is proud of him, trusting her life in him.
(Reassuring) Please, honey, calm yourself...
(Possessed) Silence, puny mortal!
The dress seller lady is a minor character in Episode 2.
Voice: Her voice is rather high-pitched.
Personality: She is energetic and, while claiming not to believe in the rumors, quite obviously does.
So the rumors about the cursed dress are true?!
I don't personally believe the rumors, but anyone who wore the dress is said to become possessed by the devil himself!
The Old Woman is a minor character in Episode 2.
Voice: Regular elder woman voice.
Personality: She is a fan of Mr. Pastel's Cello concerts and is overall very friendly.
Ah, your wife Olivia is here too, I see!
Ah, Mr. Pastel, long time no see! How's the Cello?
I can say from experience that listening to your concerts has been one of the most beautiful experiences.
The waiter is a very minor character appearing in Episode 2.
Voice Regular young adult voice with an english accent.

You can believe us when we say that your wife always looked the happiest when she was talking about you and your concerts.
Olivia's Mother is a character from Episode 2.
Voice: Raspy female senior voice.
Personality: She cares about her daughter, but at the same time worries about her and how she is living life. She is quite fond of her Son-in-law, Pastel.
Oh, I get it. You think I live out here all alone and you came here to cheer up this old lady.
You have my thanks, Pastel. I must say, my daughter must have been very happy to have had a husband like yourself.
When the incidents in our town began, I kicked her out and told her to leave as soon as possible and to never return. If it was right to act this way as a mother...? I didn't even know if she was content with her new life.
The Man on the Molentary is a character from Episode 2.
Voice: Gruff, low.
Personality: The man is very helpful and gives the protagonists some exposition about Snowtown's backstory.
Well, this town used to prosper. But then a series of weird incidents began happenin'.
Well, at some point, one after the other citizen died under mysterious circumstances. Some fled, most died. I guess you can see for yourself that by now it's nothing more than a ghost town.
The pawnbroker is a very minor character in Episode 2. He gives Pastel his Cello back.
Voice: His voice is gravelly and croaky.
You know, we all really love your concerts a lot.
