Pokedex Podcast

Pokedex Podcast

Project Overview

Hi,

This project is an audio-only podcast that takes a deep dive into the Pokedex and the beasts within. Each episode will cover one Pokemon evolution line per episode, looking at their general in-game appearances, their competitive viability and useful movepools etc., and their appearances outside the main games in other media (anime/manga, TCG, etc.)

I am looking for two co-hosts who can cover the following aspects. You would effectively have your own segment of the show:

1) Someone who can speak about the competitive aspects of the Pokemon franchise. You should be able to recommend competitive builds for the Pokemon in question, and discuss their tournament viability, niches, etc. It might be that the Pokemon we're discussing isn't suitable for high tier play, so if you can recommend lower tier strategies too, that would be a bonus.

2) Someone who can speak about aspects outside of the main game series. Ideally, you would be able to talk about appearances in the anime, plus any additional elements of the franchise (either the manga, TCG, spin-offs such as Go/Unite/Cafe Remix, or even merch).

If you are auditioning for the project, you would be expected to:

  • Have English as a first language (any accent or voice type is fine).
  • Have a decent audio setup (eg. Blue Yeti mic or equivalent hobby-grade equipment) and a suitable, quiet space to record.
  • Commit to short but regular online recording sessions (I anticipate that these would be 1-2 hour sessions every 2 weeks).
  • Use Discord, as this is where the project will be coordinated.

Unfortunately I do not have a budget for the project, so am unable to pay people for their time upfront. If the show is successful and is monetised in the future, I would commit to an equal profit share between the co-hosts. I know how this sounds and I know how many other projects say the same thing, so I would expect that this would appeal mainly to non/semi professionals who have an enthusiasm for the subject matter.

A few more random bits about the project:

  • Co-host roles are open to anybody of any gender, accent or ethnicity.
  • Recording sessions would be conducted in GMT/UTC+0 timezones (Americans are welcome to apply, but be aware that sessions would take place during the day/early evening for you).
  • I've added an audio engineer role to the project. I intend to edit the podcast myself, but if someone was available to help out or even take the lead on this aspect, I'm more than willing to accept the help. I'm open to one of the co-hosts also taking on some audio engineer responsibilities.

Thank you for taking the time to read this wall of text. I look forward to hearing your auditions!
