PLEASE NOTE: This Casting Call is for the MAIN STORY ONLY! Postgame fandub auditions will be available at a later date!
What is this?This is a fandub of PMD: Retold, a ROM hack for the game Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, created by Yakkomon. I have received his blessing for this project, so you can be rest assured that this project will be extremely faithful to the story of Mitchell and Sparky. Speaking of Mitchell and Sparky, here's a bit of the story: Mitchell is a human who has transformed into a Pokémon. Sparky, on the other hand, is a Pikachu wanting to form an exploration team. They both team up to solve their mysteries: Mitchell as to how he transformed from a human to a Pokémon and the secret to Sparky's personal treasure.
My only requirement is for you to make sure you have a decent microphone that can pick up little to no background noise. This is so it can be easier for me to import into my editing software. Please also share your Discord when you submit your audition in case I need to reach you for any retakes or additions to the script. If you'd like, I will also invite you to join a private Discord server where you can meet the rest of the cast as they are coming in and discuss the series.

Please note that for some roles, you will have a choice between which line you would like to audition with. You are free to choose which line you would like to do or (for an extra challenge) do all three.

Mitchell is the protagonist of this adventure. Upon awakening in the world of Pokémon, he discovers that he has transformed from a human into a Chimchar. Brave and willing to fight for others, Mitchell helps his partner find true courage throughout his adventures in this new world.
Feel free to choose which line you would like to do. You can do all three, or just one. I will listen to your audition either way you choose.

[You and your partner, a Grovyle named Sprout, are trying to reach a portal that will take you to the past. The weather is stormy and you're having a hard time reaching the portal.] (In a bit of a panic) Woah! Wh-wh-what was that…?! Are… Are you OK?! (Calm) Thank goodness. For a moment, I thought we were done for! (Lightning strikes again) Ahhh! No! Hang on! Just (Struggling a bit) …hang on to me! We're almost there... Just... a little further! (Notices something hurling towards the pair) (Gasp) Sprout! Look out!
(You are meeting your new friend in this world.] (Confused) Where...where am I...? (Your partner tells you you were unconscious.) Um... wait. Did you say I was unconscious? What happened to me? I can't seem to remember a thing. (Your partner introduces themselves.) Nice to meet you too, Sparky. You know, I thought I recognized you as a...(Stops short and goes into a panic) Wait! That's impossible! How can I understand you? You're a Pokémon! (Angry) I'm not a Pokémon! I'm a human! There should be NO possible way I can understand what you're saying!
[Koffing and Zubat have just stolen Sparky's personal treasure.] (Angry) Hey you bullies! That's a low act! Stealing from an innocent Pokémon! Don't think you're going to get away with this! I'm going to help Spark get back what you stole from him! (Calm, to Sparky) I may not know who I was or what I did as a human, but I can recognize a Pokémon in need. It doesn't matter whether I'm a human, ghost or Pokémon. They stole form you and taunted you, right? If you were a bad Pokémon, those two wouldn't have done what they did. (Determined) For that reason, I can't stand by and do nothing.
Chatot is a parrot-like Pokémon and is the second-in-command in Wigglytuff's Guild. He gives a lot of orders and gets VERY heated when things go wrong. Choose any line you'd like to audition with, or you can do all three. Your pick!

[You are giving orders to Mitchell and Sparky.] (Angry) You two! To Wigglytuff's office! On the double! I shall join you shortly. I have other business to attend to first.
[You are explaining to Wigglytuff Team Fire Spark's failed mission.] (Struggling a bit) Uh... There's, uh, a slight... Uh... It's awfully hard to say this, but... These apprentices... Well, they failed in their mission to bring back any Perfect Apples, and... So, uh, to put it another way... As I'd explained... Um... They failed to get them, so, uh... In other words, uh... the Perfect Apples... The number of Perfect Apples currently harvested...would be, uh...zero. Therefore, not even ONE Perfect Apple was obtained... That means, Guildmaster... You will have to make do without Perfect Apples for a little bit. (Cheerful) Yep, that's what it means! (Singing and laughing a bit) Hee! Hee! Hee-heeee! Hee-heeee! Hee-heeee! Hee-heeee! Hee-heeee! Hee-heeee! Hee-heeee! Hee-heeee! Hee-heeee... Hee... (Notices something is wrong with the Guildmaster) Um, Guildmaster? Guildmaster? (In a bit of a panic) Waaaah! N-no! (Warning Mitchell and Sparky) Cover your ears! (In a panic) Don't argue! Do it now! It's only going to get louder! ( Eeeeeeh! Aiyeeeee!
[Team Skull has just delivered a Perfect Apple.] (Grateful) Th-thank you so very, very kindly! Thanks to you, we've all been spared a catastrophe! (Angry) Hey! You two! Quit dozing and show your respect and appreciation! Ah, I see that you're the most admirable of Pokémon. To be able to embark on an expedition with someone as noble as you... It will be truly inspiring!
A member of the Wigllytuff Guild apprentices. She is always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, but does scold Loudred at times for being loud towards the new recruits.

[You are preparing for the Fogbound Lake expedition and you've been selected to be with a group of Pokémon.] (To Loudred) You should talk! [You are with Corphish and the rest of the guild as you arrive at the Groudon statue.] (Confused) Oh! But there's no one else here!
[You reach the beginning of the dungeon where Mitchell's team went in.] We can go up through here! [You reach Fogbound Lake with the guild.] (With relief) Whew! Here we are at last! (Terrified) It's Groudon! Spit it out!
[You are scolding Loudred for yelling at Mitchell and Sparky over not knowing about a famous explorer.] (Angry) Cut Sparky some slack, Loudred! Those two have been working hard on their guild work, so it's not surprising they haven't heard of him! (To Mitchell and Sparky) He's a new arrival on the scene! About a month ago, he came out of nowhere! Like a comet! He became famous almost overnight! They say his talents as an explorer are super-exceptional!
Corphish is an apprentice at Wigglytuff's Guild. He has a bit of a pirate accent, but easy to understand.

[You see Mitchell and Sparky in the Foggy Forest.] (Yelling) Hey, hey, hey! (To Mitchell and Sparky) Hey, hey! You two find any clues. (Response) I've got nothing here either. Don't let it get you down. But... there is something here that's kind of interesting. (Gestures towards a statue you found) There. Have a look for yourself. (Response) I don't know. It seems to be a statue of a Pokémon. (Shocked by a discovery) Hey, hey, hey! Y-you think so? Hey, hey! Now that's a mystery we've got to solve!
[You are confused as to the markings on the statue.] (Confused) Hey, hey! So we're supposed to what, ignite the life that was in this statue?
[Mitchell asks you to keep a secret.] (Committed) Okay. I'll keep it a secret. My lips are sealed.
Koffing is a member of Team Fire Spark's rival, Team Skull. He, along with Zubat, tease and make fun of Sparky being a coward.

[You are in the Beach Cave pit and you hear Sparky's voice.] (Impressed) Well, well... If it isn't our old friend, the big scardy-mouse, [Sparky reveals that the thing you stole was his personal treasure.] (Bullying) It could be worth more than we'd hoped for, I'd say. We ought to try selling it. Who knows? It might get a good price. Woah-ho-ho! All the more reason NOT to give it back!
[Mitchell and Sparky have defeated you in a battle.] (Defeated) B-blast it! How'd we get wiped out by wimps like them? (Bullying) Whoa-ho! Don't think you're so awesome. Your victory was a fluke!
[You are seeing Mitchell and Sparky for the first time in a while at Wigglytuff's Guild.] (Bullying) Whoa-ho-ho! I'll have you know that WE'RE an exploration team too. (Menacing) Don't be so surprised. We're an exploration team alright. Though the way we operate isn't always...by the book. (Shocked) But what a surprise! Why would YOU be here? (To the members of the guild) What are you all staring at? This isn't a public performance!
Zubat is Koffing's sidekick and is a member of Team Skull.

[You are speaking with Koffing after Sparky gives up on joining Wigglytuff's Guild.] (With affirmation) You bet I did, Koffing!
[You are with Zubat speaking to Mitchell and Sparky after they have cornered you.] (Intrigued) Treasure, you say? So that thing really is valuable, huh?
(Threatening) If you two want it back that badly... Come and get it! Heh-heh-heh!
Skuntank is the leader of Team Skull. He must have a mean voice. You are free to choose which line you want to tackle.

[You've just been introduced by Koffing and Zubat.] (Ordering) Move! Out of the way! (Demanding to Sparky) Move it! Or do you want to end up like that wimp over there?!
[You are talking to Koffing and Zubat.] (Bored) Yeah, yeah, whatever. (Confident) So, you two, did you sniff out any jobs that'll bring in the cash? [Zubat tells you about an expedition the guild is planning.] (Intrigued) What? An expedition from this guild? That does sound tasty. (Giving a few orders) Let's get out of here. We need to do some planning.
Dusknoir is a "twist" character (he pretends to be good when he's not). He deceives everyone in Treasure Town and eventually becomes evil. You are free to choose any line to audition with. You can do one, two or (for an extra challenge) all three. I will accept your audition either way.

[You are visiting Wigglyfuff's Guild for the first time and you are speaking to Wigglytuff and Chatot.] (Joyful) No, no! Think nothing of it! The honor is all mine! There is no greater pleasure than visiting Wigglytuff's Guild! After all, it's famous throughout the land! [Talk about the expedition ensues.] (Disappointed) ...I see. Well, that must have been quite a disappointment for your guild! I had heard that Wigglytuff's Guild was mounting an expedition to find Fogbound Lake. I came here hoping to hear about your latest triumph. [You are discussing plans.] (Joyful) This gave me an opportunity to visit you! I plan to stay in Treasure Town for a short while. May I visit with you occasionally during my stay? Your guild constantly receives the latest news. Good information would be a big help on my explorations!
[You are discussing a situation with the Pokémon of Treasure Town.] Everyone! While we should be happy that we protected the Time Gear this time... The fact is Grovyle remains at large. Therefore, we cannot afford to be safe and secure. He will most certainly make another attempt to steal the Time Gear. There is another matter that is tied to all of this. It is an extremely important matter that I must share with you. I would like to explain it to you now. First... Earlier, Sparky asked me the following question: Did I know Grovyle from before all this happened? That is correct. I do know Grovyle from before all of this. What I am about to say...may be beyond your belief! But it also happens to be the truth. Furthermore, if what I am about to reveal isn't stopped, calamity is certain! I, therefore, ask for your undivided attention.
[You are speaking to Mitchell and Sparky about returning to the future.] (To Sparky, with deep sorrow) I'm sorry, Sparky. I must attend to Grovyle's detainment... And ensure he never escapes again. [Mitchell responds.] Hmmm... It certainly vexes me that we never got an answer to that mystery...(With a twist) Or did we? [You use magic to lift Mitchell and Sparky up.] (With a bit of a "villain" voice) It's too soon for farewells! You two...are coming with me! Let's get the answers to your mysteries together!
Grovyle is believed to be the "villain" of the story before the truth is revealed.

(To yourself) I've finally found it! A Time Gear!
(Thinking) But, of course... One will not be enough.

[You are concerned about Grovyle.] (Worried) I must agree. Where will Grovyle strike next?
Diglett is the sentry at Wigglytuff's Guild. He's always willing to do what's right and helps the guild with keeping track of visitors.

[You have just heard an emergency siren.] It's an alert from Deputy Magnemite. I'm told it's an emergency call sent out by Officer Magnazone! (Yells down the sentry post) Deputy Magnemite! Please shout your message down to the sentry post! Please speak clearly!
[You have just witnessed Mitchell and Sparky vanish into the Dimensional Hole with Dusknoir.] (With sadness) Th-they got too close, didn't they...?
Torkoal is the "town elder" of Treasure Town. He is very old, but quite intelligent about everything in the Pokémon world. You can do all three lines or any lines if you'd like.

[Mitchell and Sparky have just landed in the Hot Spring. You are introducing them to the place.] Indeed! This is the Hot Spring. The Hot Spring works wonders on tired muscles and creaky joints. Many Pokémon visit here. (Curious) Tell me, youngster, have you a map?
[You are surprised to see Mitchell and Sparky in the Hot Spring.] (In shock) My goodness! It was the water that carried you all this way? What a long journey that must have been! Come. Let the Hot Spring wash away your fatigue before you make your way home.
[Mitchell and Sparky have returned to the Hot Spring to ask you questions about the Hidden Land.] ...Ah, I see... The Hidden Land, you say? I have heard of it. Oh yes! The Hidden Land is truly a place of legend... It is tattered lore at best, handed down by oral tradition. The Hidden Land lies beyond the sea...in a hidden place, so the story goes. The Hidden Land only allows the chosen to find it. To go there, one must possess certain qualities. (Remembering something important) Oh! That's it! You need proof! You needed proof of some sort... Yes, that was it. Proof. (With sadness) I'm an old Pokémon... My memory is not as good as it used to be.

[You are waking up Mitchell and Sparky.] HRY! HEY THERE! RISE AND SHINE! Why are you still ASLEEP?! WAKE UP! C'mon! Snap OUT of it! I suppose I better introduce myself to you two rookies! I'm Loudred! A fellow apprentice and resident alarm clock! If you're late for our morning briefing, you'll be SORRY! So MOVE it!
[You are talking with Mitchell and Sparky about an errand you have to run for the guild.]
You will be portraying multiple Pokémon for this role. Each audition line is for a different character and it will note which character you are playing on each line.

[You are playing Chimeco for this line. You are explaining the legend of Fogbound Lake.] Um, while we were traveling, I heard about a certain legend. (Break) Yes. A legend about Fogbound Lake. According to the legend, Fogbound Lake is home to a Pokémon named Uxie. The Pokémon is said to be extremely rare. Uxie is said to lock eyes with others and wipe their memories clean. That is why, even if travelers were to happen upon Fogbound Lake...Uxie would wipe their memories clean...Thereby muzzling the travelers from revealing the existence of the lake. I was told such a legend remains.
[You are playing Corphish for this line. You are motivated to help Dusknoir catch Grovyle.] (With determination) Hey, hey! I'm calling it! I'm going to be the one to catch Grovyle!
[You are playing Loudred for this line. You are going on a rant.] Ugh! This STINKS! Why have I got this crummy job? (With rage) Who am I kidding? I wasn't going to let Sunflora get wipe out like that! NO WAY! This punishment is worth it! (Sees Mitchell and Sparky) Oh. Hey, Sparky. And Chimchar too. I left my sentry post without permission, so now Chatot has me fetching apples in Apple Woods.... Which means I'll be missing dinner tonight... And I'm not going to get stuck talking to YOU TWO! So if you'll excuse me, I have apples to find!
