Superheroine Teen Drama / Story
Project Overview
ZuperFriends is a dark, teen audio story told in two parts about a lonely high school loser who gains superpowers through her ingenuity and uses those powers to enact revenge on her tormenters. Think Stephen King's Carrie with superpowers!
We’re looking for
Four female actors to play our main antagonists who are the "tormentors" -- a Mean Girls type of clique
Two male actors to play small extra roles
VAs that can convincingly portray performing various activities (e.g. drinking, running) with a wide range of different emotions
VAs that can inject their characters with their own unique character personalities
Extended commitment to the role since it will involve TWO episodes to be written and performed over 2-3 months
VAs may audition for any number of roles.
What’s in it for you
Approx $10-35 per episode for each part, depending on the role.
Girl Power Audio is established and has a growing following - other opportunities for paid work are likely if all goes well
We are pretty chill to work with and pay our VAs timely. Feel free to check our recommendations and talk to anyone who we've worked with for references.

Summer is the head of "The Squad", a Mean Girls type of clique in the story's high school. Summer is the Queen Bee archetype --prom queen, cheerleading captain, straight A student. She's also duplicitous, crafty, and vindictive towards to lead character.
No set constraints on how she should be played but she is an eighteen year old high school student who sounds sweet one minute and bitchy at the flick of a switch like Regina George was in Mean Girls
- female young adult
(annoyed; bitchy; after tripping over a backpack) “Ow! Damn it, Nora! Get your stupid Dollar Store backpack outta the aisle before you kill someone!”
(sympathetically): “Awww, Zee. Trust me. It’s for her own good. You’re just trying to spare her feelings, right? I mean….sometimes a little white lie is needed to keep the peace in a friendship”
(annoyed; putting down someone): “Jesus, Gina…You diddled yourself in front of us. Don’t act like you just gave a Tony award-winning performance!”
Gina is one of "The Squad", a Mean Girls type of clique in the story's high school, and best friend to Summer. Gina comes from a wealthy family and is not afraid to flaunt it. Completely stuck up and full of herself.
- female young adult
(shocked and angry after getting doused with a drink): Ugh! Dallas, you whore! You totally sprayed me!
(obnoxiously; catching somebody lying in Truth or Dare) “Look! She’s trying to think up a lie!”
(unabashed; sexily; drunk) “What’s wrong, Zee? You didn’t like my little one woman show?”
Austin is the other jockette in The Squad, the local Mean Girls clique. She is best friends with Dallas and the two of them love to bully the smaller, weaker girls in the school.
(thinking up an idea for Truth or Dare) “Yep! Let’s see….oh! (laughing) I got a good one!
(obnoxiously dissing another girl) “We told you she was lame, Summer!”
(drunk) Gina, the Uber’s here. Grab your shoes and let’s gooooo, you skank!
Jake is good friends with The Squad and the captain of the baseball team. He's a total tool. Brash and arrogant.
(confidently taking the baseball bat from Austin) Here, babe, lemme show you how it’s done!
(incredulously; frustrated) “I think you’re right! She has some kind of padding in there!”
(angry and frustrated) “Fuck you, nerdling!”
Dallas is a member of The Squad and the resident jockette, being team captain in three sports including field hockey. She is rather imposing physically which she uses to bully the other weaker girls in the school, especially Nora and Zee (our protagonists)
(not genuine; sarcastically) “Oopsy! Sorry…” (pause; condescending) “Hey, Bora…who’s your little friend?”
(trying to not laugh; making fun of another girl): Waitaminute! Waitaminute! Your big secret is you’re a magician!? Like grab-a-quarter-from-my-ear magician? (sarcastically) Wow! That’s REALLY cool, Zee!” (laughing)
D: (confident / arrogant) “You must be new around here. If I wanted to hit you, I woulda…trust me! Bora, you wanna tell your friend to gimme my ball back?”
This is a generic extra role for this production, but we are desperate for filling our stable of actors with more supporting actors and extras. We do about 4 productions per month and have the need for several smaller male roles.
Feel free to audition with different voices for the different roles if you see fit.
(scared) "Who... Who ARE you? How are you doing that?! Put me down! Please! You're hurting me! Ow! Aaaaagghhh!" (determined) "We have to stop her! I don't care what the other guys said! It's not possible she survived a grenade at point blank range!"
(grave) Gentlemen, as leader, it's my duty to protect as many innocent lives as possible. I'm not sure what else we can do. We've exhausted all our other options. It... It might be time for us to consider surrendering."
(humorous; sarcastic): Oh right, so a minute ago you're trying to murder me like some deranged psycho and NOW you're interested in my backstory.
