PETRIFIED
Project Overview
In a medieval village, JMPity lives an ordinary life until an argument with his mother Mara drives him in anger into the forest. There, out of frustration, he destroys an ancient shrine and awakens the sealed dragon Varak, who has been waiting centuries for revenge. When JMPity returns, the entire village has turned to stone, including his mother. He sets out to find the only one still alive, the elder Aldric, receives the sealing sword, and pursues the dragon toward the capital. In battle, JMPity receives Varak's memories and realizes the dragon is not a monster, but the equal of someone who was betrayed. In the moment he could kill, he lowers his sword. Before anything can be resolved, the screen goes black.
PETRIFIED is a 10 to 15 minute animated short film produced in Mine-imator, planned for release on YouTube. The story is not about a hero saving the world. It is about a ordinary boy dealing with guilt, forgiveness, and the moment he realizes that the enemy in front of him is not so different from himself.
The protagonist. A young man in a medieval village. No hero, no chosen one, just an ordinary guy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He carries a smoldering argument with his mother inside him and must learn that guilt and forgiveness are not weaknesses.

"Stop constantly comparing me to Father!" Explosive, frustrated outburst. Raw and unfiltered. Not dramatic, just real anger from someone who's fed up.
"I destroyed it. Out of stupidity. Over an argument that no longer matters." Quiet, flat, hollow. No dramatics. The guilt is already sitting on his chest.
"He showed me everything. Everything you did." Calm and cold. The most controlled JMPity has ever been. Underneath the calm there is weight.
JMPity's mother. A strong but emotional woman who holds high expectations for her son. Her last encounter with JMPity ends in a fight before she is petrified. Her petrified face is the emotional core of the film.

"You spent the evening out again yesterday. The axe is still where you left it." Tired, not screaming. The disappointment of someone who has had this conversation too many times.
"Your father would never have..." Starts with conviction, then catches herself. The break matters more than the words.
"I worry about you. That is all." Soft, almost fragile. She expected a fight and chose honesty instead. Slightly defeated.
The village elder. An old, wise man with a heavy secret. He raised the dragon Varak many years ago, then betrayed and sealed him away. He has lived with this guilt ever since. The only one besides JMPity to survive the petrification, because he hid in time.

"Many, many years ago, when I was still young, I found an egg in the forest." Slow, deliberate, like a man choosing every word carefully. Old and tired but present.
"Yes." One word carrying decades of guilt. No defense. No excuse. Just acknowledgment.
"What are you doing! Do it now! He will petrify everyone, everyone! Kill him!" Panic breaking through a lifetime of composure. The controlled elder is gone for a moment.
