Persona 5: The Phan-dub (An abridged series of Persona 5) - Emergency Recasting - Female Voices Needed
Project Overview
Heya!
This is an emergency recasting for Persona 5: The Phan-dub, a parody fandub/abridged series of Persona 5’s anime-style cutscenes, and scenes from Persona 5: The Animation.
So here’s our situation:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are having to restart this project from Episode 1 and we are currently in need of female voices, particularly for a lot of the major female characters. These include:
• Ann Takamaki
• Makoto Niijima
• Futaba Sakura
• Sadayo Kawakami
• Shiho Suzui
Audition Rules
• Preferably a good quality microphone with no background noise, static, or any other disruptions to the audio quality.
• Please provide at least 2 or 3 takes per line.
• Since this is a long-term project, you must be dedicated to remaining in it through to the very end. I would not like to recast any more roles in the future so please only audition if you know that you will be able to stick around for the next few years.
• Persona 5 is very much known for its adult content but I feel like I should say this nonetheless: You must be comfortable with swearing, explicit/sexual/sex-related jokes, innuendos, and just overall adult dialogue and dark comedy.
• You must be comfortable with potentially having to yell and being loud, especially if you’re interested in voicing one of the Phantom Thieves as one of their common lines is shouting “Persona!” when summoning their Personas.
• You must be comfortable with potentially having to cry, especially if you’re interested in voicing one of the Phantom Thieves.
• You must have a Discord account as I will provide live direction through voice calls. I will also invite you to our Discord server where I will post updates on the progress of the project and where you will be able to meet and interact with the other cast members!
• Of course, if you are cast, then please be respectful to your fellow cast members. We’re all here to have some fun!
Other Information
• You are more than welcome to audition for more than one character!
• As with most abridged series, this project is non-profit meaning there will be no payment involved. This is all for fun and to make as many people as we can laugh while still making a quality series!

Ann Takamaki is a second year high schooler at Shujin Academy who lives a double life as a Phantom Thief.
In Persona 5: The Phan-dub, personality-wise, she is more or less the same as her canon counterpart however noticeably more airheaded, hot-headed and less compassionate which will be shown in her lack of concern towards Shiho Suzui.
Ann is also a lesbian in the Phan-dub, with Shiho being her girlfriend instead of just her best friend. This will cause conflict with Morgana, as in the Phan-dub he is still attracted to Ann, but will constantly be reminded by the other Phantom Thieves that him and Ann could never be together.
For this role you must be comfortable screaming in pain as you will have to record the scene where she awakens her Persona, Carmen.
For her voice, I am looking for it to be close to her actual English voice; however, if there are other interpretations that you may see fit, then I am open to hearing them!
Also, feel free to add your own improvised line in your audition if you feel like it would be fitting for the character, I would love to hear it!

“Shut the fuck up, Ryuji! No one cares about your Fortnite fetishes!”
[Shouting back at a Shadow that she is fighting, then summoning her Persona: Carmen]
“Now, let’s burn your face off! CARMEN!”
Makoto Niijima is the student council president of Shujin Academy who lives a double life as a Phantom Thief.
In Persona 5: The Phan-dub, she starts off as very oblivious when she is asked by Principal Kobayakawa to identify the Phantom Thieves as she will discover Ren, Ryuji and Ann openly discussing their plans several times and Makoto will not bat an eye. Even after Ryuji Sakamoto exclaims that he is a Phantom Thief, Makoto will pass it off as just a ‘coincidence’.
After joining the Phantom Thieves during the Kaneshiro’s Palace Arc, she will be in a lot of disputes with Ren Amamiya as he is going to absolutely despise her for several reasons, to which she will also act oblivious towards.
For this role you must be comfortable screaming in pain as you will have to record the scene where she awakens her Persona, Johanna.

“Wow look, it’s the three students who stand out ‘cause they have actual character design. One of whom was affiliated with Kamoshida, who confessed his crimes after the calling card was put up. I wonder if I should confront them and point out how obvious their scheme is or if I should assume it’s a coincidence for plot reasons.”
[Interrogative, shouting]
“Don’t play dumb with me! You know what I’m talking about, I want answers!”
Futaba Sakura is the Navigator of the Phantom Thieves. Despite being a genius computer hacker, she is a shut-in who does not attend school and rarely, if ever, leaves her house until joining the Phantom Thieves.
In Persona 5: The Phan-dub, she will quite literally represent otaku culture and reference mostly video games and Japanese pop culture. Also, despite speaking English, will introduce herself with her surname first, as in ‘Sakura Futaba’ in reference to how Japanese names start with family names before given names.
She will also be addicted to marijuana (weed) and will get stoned fairly often, but not every single scene, of course. The other Phantom Thieves will try their best to prevent her from using cannabis, but Futaba has her ways of regaining access to it.
Other than what was previously mentioned, her personality will remain pretty similar to her canon counterpart, except for occasionally getting high.
For her voice, I am looking for it to be close to her actual English voice albeit you will need to try your best at acting stoned when asked. Once again, if there are other interpretations that you may see fit, then I am open to hearing them!

“I am Sakura Futaba, and I am a gamer! Not because I don’t have a life but because I choose to have many!”

[Stoned]
(Coughs twice) “Did you... uhh... get the weed?... (slight pause) I uh.. need it... now...”
Sadayo Kawakami is a teacher at Shujin Academy and the protagonist's homeroom teacher. She also works a second job as a maid for a call-in housekeeping service where she goes by the name: Becky.
In Persona 5: The Phan-dub, I am not currently 100% sure what to do differently with her character and so for now she will mostly be identical to her canonical counterpart but perhaps a bit more blunt. If you are cast for this role then I may ask you for any ideas on what we could do differently with Kawakami’s personality.
For this role you will need to be able to change up your voice slightly for when she is working her maid job as "Becky". As a maid, instead of her usual exhausted, cold and laid-back self, Kawakami effects a stereotypical moe personality, acting energetic, cute and naive.
For her voice, I am looking for it to be close to her actual English voice; however, if there are other interpretations that you may see fit, then I am open to hearing them!

Shiho Suzui is a student at Shujin Academy.
In Persona 5: The Phan-dub, she will be portrayed as incredibly depressed and as a result of that, suicidal, having attempted suicide 11 times and being easily provoked to do so. Ann is her girlfriend who barely listens to her troubles, gives her terrible advice and is overall a pretty bad friend towards her.
There will be some minor conflict between Shiho and Yuuki Mishima that leads to her 12th suicide attempt.
For her voice I am looking for it be close to her actual English voice but with a more depressed tone; however, if there other interpretations that you may see fit, then I am open to hearing them!

“I can’t just smile whenever I want, it’s not that simple, Ann. Even if there was a reason to be happy, it’d just be a momentary distraction from the harsh reality of life. This life that I never asked for.”
[Begging]
“No Mishima! You can’t do that! PLEASE DON’T!”
[Almost Crying, talking to herself]
“How could Mishima do such a thing!”
